Odors of death result in an ECSO and SPCA raid on dog training facility

Posted in Breaking News, Headline, Waxahachie on July 23, 2015 by Dave A. Vance

The Ellis County Sheriff's Office and SPCA raided Maximum K-9, owned by Gayle Justice, on Thursday, July 23, 2015 after an anonymous tip led Deputies to numerous dead animals.

WAXAHACHIE — The Ellis County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) and SPCA of Texas raided the Maximum K-9 training facility in Waxahachie on Thursday, July 23 resulting in one arrest, seizure of 72 animals and collection of 15 to 20 dead animals.

The raid followed a welfare check at the location on Wednesday where Sheriff's Deputies were denied access.

"Upon arrival, the Deputies smelled a strong odor emanating from the house but were denied access by a 69-year-old woman at the scene," a press release from the ECSO stated.

"The Deputies obtained a search warrant and returned this morning (July 23, 2015) along with the SPCA of Texas to execute the search warrant."

A nearby resident photographed Sheriff's Deputies and media stationed down the street from Maximum K-9 in Waxahachie, TX.

The welfare check was initiated by a concerned citizen whom was at the house over the weekend where he said dogs were looking at him like they were wondering if they were going to live another day.

"I noticed the horrendous smell of death even pulling up from out of the roadway. Being dark and being not allowed into the house at that time, I couldn't exactly see what was going on. I noticed it was a dog training facility," an anonymous source told Ellis County Citizen in an exclusive interview.

"The smell outside was certainly just death. There was no mistaking it, it was death."

The witness returned the following day to see dead dogs in and around the house.

"I went back out there and noticed there were dead dogs in and around the house and there were several dogs penned up inside in cages with no food or water. A couple of them were running around scared looking emaciated," the witness said.

The anonymous tipster attempted to take photographs inside the home without alerting the resident to his actions.

"Seeing what I saw then, I took a couple of pictures inside the house and as soon as I left there I made a decision in my mind I couldn't just let that go. I called the County Sheriff and left an anonymous report of what I found and asked them to do a welfare check."

According to the ECSO press release, "Sixty-eight dogs, three cats and one parrot were seized and transported by the SPCA of Texas to one of its facilities. From 15-20 deceased animals were located on site."

"The 69-year-old woman was taken into custody at the scene. Her name is not being released pending arraignment on a class A misdemeanor charge of cruelty to animals."

According to the company's Facebook page, the facility provides dog obedience training and boarding services. The company's website states Gayle Justice owns the business.

"Maximum K-9 provides professional dog training services for all of North Central Texas. Gayle Justice is the owner and Training Director, and has over 35 years of training experience," the website states.

"Experience and proven method of training that is guaranteed for the life of your dog."

The witness is asking that any residents who smell something out of the ordinary or who feel like something is not right to contact law enforcement in future situations. He and other residents believe that law enforcement may have been able to react quicker should someone have reported this sooner.

Gayle Justice Dog Thief

Gayle Justice is a dog thief. She stole my dog! She was to take the dog for 6-8 weeks and train for $1500 (boarding included). She did not respond to emails or phone calls month after month when I attempted to get my dog back. After more than a year I told her I was getting the police involved and amazingly I heard from her. She then proceeded to tell me I owed her over a years worth of boarding at $300 a month plus $2000 for training.

I have all correspondence proving she is a criminal plus I have the dogs papers, but at this point between the cost of an attorney and uprooting the dog which I care about and don't want to put through anymore trauma. I'm dropping it but making sure the public knows she is a thief. I don't know if she keeps these dogs for herself or sells them but I spoke to my minister about it and he feels certain since she is in her mid to late 60's that this is not the first time she has stolen someone's dog. She may think she has gotten by with it but one day she will meet her maker and will be judged accordingly.

Do not trust your beloved animals with this crook. She has two websites:

I do not know why she still has all these websites up about her business that she was arrested for. I read the horror stories and wanted to cry. I hope she is still in jail.

IN 2015 Gayle was charged with animal cruelty. She had over 70 dogs on the premises, 17 dead, many malnourished. The dogs were removed and some made it back to their real owners.

This woman has no clue how to train animals. She will put a shock collar on your dog and shock it until it submits to her. Then she has the nerve to charge you for the collar on top of her $2000 training fee. Your dog being smarter than her will know when the collar is on and be obedient but when the collar is off, you've got the same dog you had before. Take your hard earned money to a real trainer that knows how to TRAIN. You don't see shock collars at obedience shows or at schutzhund trails because these people know what they are doing.

Don't trust her either. She threw Wally under the bus (Wolfgang rescue). IF you care about your dog, please take it to someone that knows what the heck they are doing.

Do NOT take your dog to this woman for training, or let her come to you! I had a 3 hour 'training' session that consisted of 2 hours and 55 minutes of non stop talking and 5 minutes of actually discussing the dog.

Rather than actually trying to train in that last 5 minutes she put a shock collar on the dog! I declined anymore of her 'training' and just took the loss.

The talking wasn't even about training or my dog. This woman cannot stop talking about herself and it's all about nothing. Blah Blah Blah about how great she is at everything. She claims she has trained trainers and any trainer not trained by her is worthless. She rarely takes a breath so anyone can get a word in. I had to interrupt her anytime I wanted to say something about my dog and she would then go off on some story about herself again.

Just a total waste of my time and money. I did find a 'real' trainer who turned out to be wonderful, wanted to know about my dog that I was paying her to trand and gosh didn't even use a shock collar!

She's old so maybe she is just senile but save your money and find a realy trainer.
