I called the main office and spoke to Joe on July 10th at 8:22 am. I explained to him that I ordered the Lobster at $125.00 since I hadn't had it in a while and wanted to celebrate our 50th Anniversary with a nice dinner.
My husband ordered the Chilean Sea Bass with Brussels sprouts. My Lobster tail was way overcooked and was VERY chewy. Joe told me that the lobster was not cooked properly. Also, the Chilean Sea Bass had no flavor.
We did not complain to our waiter Brian since the restaurant was packed on Sunday 7-7-2024 at 1 pm. Our waiter Brian was so sweet, and I could tell he was busy helping many tables. The next morning I called Mastro's main office & left 3 or 4 messages and I finally got a call back 2 days later.
I honestly do not feel I should have paid $295.00 for a dinner that was not properly cooked. I left half of my lobster tail on my plate because I honestly couldn't eat it.

Food issue
Hi, I love the food you offer. I travel state to state and every time and order your filet mignon But I was recently in Texas location and the steak taste very different.
Im assuming they mixed it with sauces and I was very dissatisfied. They put some type of sauce thats not like the other states.

The food was terrible I spent over 300 and left a 50 dollar tip and all they would compensate me with $50 I thought felt like that was an insult. It was the one in Costa Mesa

We were in from out of town. I ordered a drink at the bar and Ordered a yellow butter cake to go.
Brought it right back to our hotel. When we opened the box, it looked like they chewed it up and spit it into the box. Very disappointed for my daughters birthday. We ordered it to go before and it was always perfect.
Had an early morning flight to catch so we were unable to bring it back. Very disappointing!

I went to Mastros always loved this RESTURANT . I have not been here since after covid 19 , went with a friend a day before New Year very disappointed.
The waiter did not know the wine menue , I wanted a wine that is sweet and not dry , he bought me 3 tasters all dry wine . Smh. Then he had candy or something in his mouth as he talked he spit , I addressed it , I asked if he can please stop his spitting if he can wear a mask because I am High risk he sai NO asked for a manager he was short and not concerned at all , on my issues got another waitress , told her my wine taste she right away got me a sweet wine . She knew what she was doing , then , we notice the waiters jacket white and dingy several of them then as we were eating we noticed a black hair Iam blonde and my friend is bold headed ADRESSED , I told the manager and his responds was u notice it now !
I told him yes ! What is the different its dark in here and yes we noticed it now , ! Point is it should not be on my table , my friend told him Can you remove the hair from the table sir ! Then supposedly there is a dress code on their web sight I saw individuals in gym shoes jeans pants sagging caps, this RESTAURANT is not what it use to be ..
Butter hard .The waitress was on point she got a $50.00 tip but seem to have a bit of an attitude, maybe she spoke to the other waiter cause her attitude changed , Also called the Restaurant after lost a silver Antique Pin., lady on phone said she Will go check we were on seconds later floor she came back on the phone right away no way she checked my friend called again, this time it seems like she took the time to check .
Will never go back again, not the same place, it turned into junks two star Restuarant. I am high risk if a customer ask for their waiter to wear a mask to good business will say No to a customer especially for safety.

We went into the restaurant for dinner late on a Saturday night. We came from the north bay an there was almost no other option for dinner...
mortons took us in glady with 30 minutes left an didn't say anything about our attire...
the manager at mastros is just a hateful person an couldn't even politely remind us of dress code an just seat us... it was so disrespectful I will not go back without an apology...
The manager was slightly disrespectful. We came from the north bay to eat dinner an when we arrived we where refused service.
Both me an my cousin had on shorts. We understand there is a dress code but it would have been nice for him to accommodate us an seat us an just remind us of the dress code.
I have been to the same location with my woman dressed the same way an was seated right away... I don't think I'll be back to thus location anymore since they apparently don't appreciate customer an don't need anymore money from anyone else.

Incorrect charges
They double charged my card. Once I noticed I reached out and tried calling the restaurant multiple times and cannot leave voice-mail.
Finally reached someone they told me to call back because a manager was not available to help me. It's now 3 days later and cannot get anyone on the phone to help.

Worst dining experience in my 78 years.
Didn't really honor reservations.
Over crowded.
Much too loud.
Over booked and under staffed.
Food was bland and much too overpriced.

I don't get the hype for the worst restaurant on the planet.

The waitress burned my 7 year old daughters hand with the macaroni pan. On June 7th we had reservations at Thousand Oaks location at 7 pm party for Maribel of 7.
I'm most upset because my daughters hand was firmly placed on the table, she was not moving her hands.
The server placed the red hot pan on her hand. At no fault of my daughter on my birthday night celebration night.

Complaint
Burned my 7yr old daughters hand. No apologies.
Tried to email complaint, no email available on their website. I called to speak to manager, I received the most fake apology ever. It was as if he couldn't wait to get me off the phone. Once he heard the burn wasn't severe enough to take my daughter to the hospital, he couldn't wait to get off the phone.
Offered a 100$ credit, took my number and said goodbye. Kidding me 100$?! So what I'm supposed to go eat by myself. People like this guy that for plain spite, if that were to happen again, I am taking my daughter to the E.R.
and requesting a specialist and take that bill right over to that manager.
Maybe then he will care alittle more. Take that 100$ and save it.

My ribeye was nothing but fat. I understand ribeyes are a fatty cut but this was unacceptable. I took my friend there for her birthday and same for her.

Terrible Management, will never go back to Mastro Newport Beach!
Visited this restaurant on 28 September with my friends. We wanted a girls night out a nice evening meal.
However it was ruined by the terrible time we had there. We were shocked when a group of guys grabbed a lady by the wrist, she was with her sons and husband. When the husband tried to help her they had him in a headlock. The two managers allowed this to happen while customers watched in horror.
Her small child was held back by the staff while he watched his older brother being hurt. No apologies to the family but they were thrown out!!!
Awful place I wont be returning you have lost a loyal customer and many more as I will make sure my Mom and Dad dont come back. The managers stood and watched, we now dont feel safe and will avoid this restaurant!!!
Poor Quality Food Review
Horrible quality and preparation rib eye.
Mastros Ocean Club New Port Beach- Overpriced bad food
Food was terrible both my wife and I were sick that night. They use too much salt, had to drink a gallon of water, at home, and they use a disgusting amount of butter.
Their lobster mash was floating in grease and butter. My Rib Eye was poor quality the local Ralphs has a better piece of meat, lots of fat and gristle and little meat. I cook meat better at home. The butter cake is good the first 3 bites then you want to throw up.
For over $100 per person (a lot more if you drink) should not be pushing you out the door after 1 hr and 10 minutes, felt like a diner in that regard. It is beautiful and lots of people to help but for 250 dollars for 2 with no booze, it is a rip off and based on the food it was rip off at any price. Avoid this one, unless you want an expensive colonic.
I right few reviews but this was really bad. Disgusting!!!!!
