Master Mark Industries
Warranty by Master Mark Plastics is worthless
- - Chose Rhino Deck nine years ago; pricey, mold appeared year one, treatment needed, replaced at personal cost; warranty excluded installer error.
I chose Rhino Deck when I have my deck built nine years ago. though it was quite expensive I thought it would last many years and be more maintenance free than wood.
However, the first year it formed a black mold and need to be power washed and treated every year. Then, the planks expanded never to contract causing water to stand on it.
I had to have it replaced after just nine years at my cost because they said the 20 year warranty did not cover installer error. I am now out of all my money and hope no one ever buys their product!
Boards looking like leopard skin, cracking, warping
- - Deck installed Spring 2008, recommended by my contractor.
- - Sun-exposed boards show dark spots; ends split and one warped; replacement is unaffordable.
The deck was installed in the Spring of 2008. It was recommended by my general contractor. He was under impression that it would perform better than other brands he knew about. All the boards exposed to the sun (majority), are showing dark spots that no washing can remove. Even if I follow the instructions from Rhino.
The ends of several boards have split.
One board is very warped; it could cause an accident and it is splitting length wise.
I can't afford to have it replaced. Plus I would have to remove some stone work and siding in order to install new boards.
RHINO DECKING
- - Rhino decking warped, seams opened, and faded to gray.
- - Company refused to help; nearly $30,000 on a 2.5-year-old home.
PURCHASED RHINO DECKING 2 YEARS AGO. LESS THAN A YEAR AGO IT STARTED TO WARP AND SEPARATE AT THE SEAMS CAUSING GAPS BETWEEN THE BOARDS.
ALSO I HAVE SAFARI BROWN. IT HAS FADED SO MUCH ALREADY THAT IT STARTING TO LOOK GRAY.IT WAS INSTALLED PROPERLY. NOTIFED THE COMPANY THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. MY HOUSE IS ONLY 2 1/2 YRS OLD.
DECK RATHER LARGE AND COST ME ALMOST $30,000. I AM ACTUALLY EMBARRASED.
THEY COULD HAVE A LEAST SENT OUT A REP.MY HOUSE IS NEWLY BUILT. MY BUILDER WILL NEVER RECOMMEND IT T ANYONE AGAIN.
Rhino Deck can't find dealers
- - Rhino deck stains; cleaning needed every 6 months.
- - Ends of two boards warped in one area.
- - No California dealers listed online for Master Mark Plastics.
I have half of the decking around my cabin in Rhino deck. It does stain and needs cleaning every 6 months or so.
In one area the ends of two board warped. But, I tried to purchase more for my back deck. So, you can see I'm not totally dissatisfied with the product. Unfortunately, the dealers listed on their web page no longer deal with Master Mark Plastics.
I think they keep them listed even though one said they no haven't bought materials for 7 years, just to look like they have dealers.
In fact, there is not one single dealer in California. That alone tells you something is wrong with this company.
Rhino deck need i say anymore?
- - East-facing deck gets sun, and black patches appear on floors and rails.
- - Patches reappear after chlorine wash, and the contractor offered replacement.
Installed a 4,5000 $ rhino junk deck and will be tearing it off my 295,000.00 two story home after two years. if anybody else uses this product from mastermark industries they should be made aware that they have just thrown their money away. the deck is installed on the east side of our home and recieves ample sun at least 8 hours a day durring the summer. we have been getting alot of black patches on both the flooring and the railings.
we were told it was a mold problem, have had the deck professionally power washed and treated with clorox outdoor, this removes the mold and black spots for about two weeks then they reappear.
we have had the deck washed again and now the railings are pitted and rough, probably to much power washing.
Our contractor who installed the deck is so afraid of us suing him that he offered to replace the deck.
I told him NO ******* way it is not his problem but Mastermarks.
i was thinking of putting this stuff around my pool, No way I will use pressure treated wood.

After 2 years of complaining with photos, letters and visits to a local supplier, MARK industries finally decided to do something.
They provided all new boards with an upgrade.
I had to pay for the removal and disposal of the old deck and the labor to install the new one. This work was done 6 months ago. We'll see how it stands up.
Apparently the type of boards they sold us should have never been used in a cold climate.
We live in west Texas where the temperatures range from 16 to 112 degrees Fahrenheit. Super hot and super dry with extreme sun.
We put this decking in three years ago with a large porch and walkway wrapping around trees. Must say we didn't expect it to perform like it has. We love it. It was expensive but worth it.
Still looks great.
Held its color and no warping or splitting.
