Boards looking like leopard skin, cracking, warping

The deck was installed in the Spring of 2008. It was recommended by my general contractor. He was under impression that it would perform better than other brands he knew about. All the boards exposed to the sun (majority), are showing dark spots that no washing can remove. Even if I follow the instructions from Rhino. The ends of several boards have split. One board is very warped; it could cause an accident and it is splitting length wise. I can't afford to have it replaced. Plus I would have to remove some stone work and siding in order to install new boards.

After 2 years of complaining with photos, letters and visits to a local supplier, MARK industries finally decided to do something.

They provided all new boards with an upgrade.

I had to pay for the removal and disposal of the old deck and the labor to install the new one. This work was done 6 months ago. We'll see how it stands up.

Apparently the type of boards they sold us should have never been used in a cold climate.

We live in west Texas where the temperatures range from 16 to 112 degrees Fahrenheit. Super hot and super dry with extreme sun.

We put this decking in three years ago with a large porch and walkway wrapping around trees. Must say we didn't expect it to perform like it has. We love it. It was expensive but worth it.

Still looks great.

Held its color and no warping or splitting.

Rhino deck need i say anymore?

Installed a 4,5000 $ rhino junk deck and will be tearing it off my 295,000.00 two story home after two years. if anybody else uses this product from mastermark industries they should be made aware that they have just thrown their money away. the deck is installed on the east side of our home and recieves ample sun at least 8 hours a day durring the summer. we have been getting alot of black patches on both the flooring and the railings. we were told it was a mold problem, have had the deck professionally power washed and treated with clorox outdoor, this removes the mold and black spots for about two weeks then they reappear. we have had the deck washed again and now the railings are pitted and rough, probably to much power washing. Our contractor who installed the deck is so afraid of us suing him that he offered to replace the deck. I told him NO ******* way it is not his problem but Mastermarks. i was thinking of putting this stuff around my pool, No way I will use pressure treated wood.

I am a licensed contractor and I just put Rhino decking on for a client of mine. I will never make this mistake again.

The deck I did has full sun for the majority of the day. This decking gets so hot during the day that you can't walk on it or sit on it. We measured the temperature and it exceeded 160 degrees during different times of the day. I called my supplier (ABC Supply in Newport News Virginia) and they turned me over to a sales rep for Rhino decking.

Through several phone call from myself and my client we were told we were out of luck and they would not be doing anything. Their customer service is atrocious. I didn't want to be sued so I have replaced the new Rhino decking with pressure treated decking. I have eaten the cost of the Rhino decking($3600) the labor to install and remove the Rhino decking($2000) and the labor to install the pressure treated decking($1000) I am a small contractor and have been absolutely abandoned by my supplier(ABC Supply of Newport News) and Master Mark Plastics(rhino decking).

I will never use this supplier again or Rhino decking.

Nobody from either company even came out to look at the problem. They have not heard the end of this.

YOU CAN SAY THAT AGAIN DAVID! had the misfortune of loosing balance and falling on it in 105 degree L.A. temp & alone with 2 replaced hips, the heat emanating from the planks was soooooo intense, said to myself as i edged toward my old "cooler " brick: "surely, this is an intro to ***!"

I installed rhino decking on my pool deck about three years ago and about 50% of the plastic decking clips are broken. I had a representative look at it and he said he could get me new clips.

I will have to tear up all the decking and start over. Who is paying for my time?

Tearing my Rhino Deck off too! Mold, mildew, warping, fading, etc. Junk decking!

We live in Calgary and have a Rhino deck on the south side so the deck gets alot of sun and dries out very quickly. The color faded after one season, but we actually like the shade now.

Our concern is this...there was a hailstorm in Calgary of July 2010 and are area was hardest hit. Long story short, the deck had to be cleaned to see what damage was done to it. The insurance company instructed the contractor to pressure wash the deck. Unfortunately, the guy who washed the deck was not experienced in washing Rhino decking. He used (they claimed) 1500psi. We believe they used more pressure and had the nozzle too close to the deck. In doing so, they have stripped some of the wood grain off the surface. We now have less of a wood grain look as well has a very gritty texture in alot of the area.

The deck is now approximately 5 years old and we do not have any mold issues. Of course, are air is very dry and it has a south exposure.

So my question is, does anyone have any experience with pressure washing Rhino decking? You input would be most appreciated.

I've had a Rhino deck for approx 9 years now. It started as dark brown but has faded considerably.

I've had no issues with cracking or splitting. I wash the deck myself twice a year. I use a common garden sprayer filled with Olympic vinyl siding cleaner. I lightly wet the deck with water from the hose then spray the cleaner on it.

I then use a stiff brush I attached to a broom handle to scrub the deck. This gets rid of the mold and mildew easily. I then rinse the section I just scrubbed with the garden hose.

I've found it best to let the cleaner work for 5 minutes or so before scrubbing. I'm very happy with the deck except for the fading issue.

We had a $15,000, 400 square ft. Rhino Deck built about three years ago.

We have black spots that we can not get out. We have used the composite deck cleaners with bleach in them. No help. The railings are all shifting and leaving gaps at all the post.

The stair rails are all warping either in or out from the stairs. The Floor boards on one section is warped and saging. It has faded so bad and the top railing are faded really bad and pitted and rough. We are not rich people and My husband saved the money for this deck for 5 years.

We feel so ripped off and unsatisfied.

Does anyone know how to go about filing a complaint and to whom we should complain to. It seems there is no customer service for Rhino Decking.
