Misleading customers

You are misleading with your kit, the Neutral Zone Afghan. You claim that the kit is machine washable and dryable on the Canadian site.

This is not true. The alpaca yarn is hand washable only and to be laid flat to dry according to the ball band. Also, you do NOT state that the second yarn is 100% acrylic!!! One is led to believe that both yarns are the same when in fact they are totally not.

This kit has been sold under false pretenses and everyone who bought it should be refunded because of that issue.

When you substitute one yarn for another there should be at maximum 20 yds different from them. The Best Value has 342 yards per 170 yds and is more of a dk weight while the Natural Alpaca is 262 yds per 100 grams. If we convert the Best Value yarn into 100 grams its yardage is 201 yds a massive difference of 61 yds. They are not compatible yarns at all.

I contacted them and actually had to go through the American site to actually get a Canadian representative to answer me.

Then the belligerence turned on and Lesley Boyd told me that the yarn was machine washable and dryer friendly, reading of course from their incorrect website. All she had to do was grab a skein of the yarn herself and see that the label said it had to dried flat and hand washed. But would she do it? Nope.

Finally I went back to the Americans and told them all of the above. Admitting that your company was at fault would have been a good thing.

As it stands right now, I have a bad taste in my mouth for the way Lesley on behalf of Mary Maxim handled all of this and if this is how your company operates after I have spent a lot of time with it, it is kind of telling me to look elsewhere for a company that actually listens when you say there is something wrong.slea

Looking for my order

It says my order was delivered on July 22, and we cant find it anywhere in the mail room where they said it was delivered to. I called and they have to get approval to reship which I do understand. I have never had problems before so idk. Its awful that you cant seem to trust people.

I ordered a kit online on June 2, 2022 in Ohio. That was the only purchase I made that day. I had a fraud alert from my bank the next morning, 6/3/22, that someone tried to buy $150 worth of alcohol through Door-dash from Woods Liquor in Detroit, MI, which is less than an hour from Mary Maxium location. I reported to their company and they didn't seem too concerned. I know it's not a coincidence. Had to cancel my debit card and get a new one.

Terrible customer service! Rude!

I have ordered hundreds (maybe thousands) of dollars of yarn and afghan kits from Mary Maxim over the years. Whenever Ive had to communicate with them about an order via email or over the phone I have NEVER been treated so coldly and so badly (by any other business). Perhaps you have to be a rude, angry, hostile person in order to get hired there.!? Apparently goodwill and customer SERVICE is not part of their vocabulary. Even when the mistake was THEIR fault they treat you like youre an imbecile and clueless. Unbelievable! I cannot believe they can still be in business when they do all they can to rip off the very people who keep their business afloat. Just DONT shop there. Awful and Disgusting!

When I purchased this product I did it with good faith that your company cared about your customers. You charged me 12.99 for shipping and if I returned the product I would not get my shipping back and you would charge me another 6.99 to ship it back. So in the long run you charge me $47,99 to receive a product and only give me $28 back. What a rip off. Please take me off all your list. I will never do business with a company that just doesnt care about their customers.

Royal Fanfare Throw is the worst kit ever to thepoint that I will never purchase another kit from you. I have been crocheting and knitting for 40+ years so I do know what I am doing. The material is total crap the instructions are also total crap pobably why this kit disappeared real fast from your catalogue and I am out $50. Mary Maxim PRISM yarn-made in China there is the problem. From now on I will use your catalogue to get ideas only and will order all my yarn elsewhere!

Worst On line customer service! I placed an order on May 11, 2020. I got an email on May 18th saying the order was shipped and I would get a tracking email within 3 to 5 days. Because of COVID and thinking Canada post would be slow I waited two weeks before I called them. I was then told my order had not been shipped because my credit card did not match my address. I was also told I should have gotten an email telling me this. I did not get an email. The lady took down my information, checked her inventory, told me she had everything and would get it out to me ASAP. I waited another two weeks and called them. I was then told some of my order was on back order and they had everything now and would send it out ASAP. I asked for one thing......I had already paid 20.00 to have it mailed and waited one month. I asked for them to express mail it to me. The lady said I could pay more money to have that done. I said they should bite the bullet on the difference because of the poor service and my month long wait. The lady checked with her supervisor who told her it would be shipped regular mail on Monday. I asked to speak to the supervisor (Lori) who told me after my story that she would send it out Monday regular mail. I told her they had said that two weeks ago and it still hadnt been shipped. She then proceeded to tell me that part of that was my fault as I provided the wrong address for my credit card. I am not proud that I got a little angry at this point but really? If I hadnt called after two weeks I would never have known that.....I did not get an email or phone call telling me my address did not match up! So now its a month later and they tell me it will be shipped regular mail on Monday.....do I believe that? How about a little good faith and eat the extra charge for express post. They lost my order and I will never shop with them again! I will also tell anyone who will listen. Was that really worth it?

Felt stocking kit unusable as shipped

Kit had no design chart and no embroidery needles. Also, the white felt was marred by long, heavy black marks. Could not use the white piece for the stocking back. Had to purchase additional white felt to make a usable piece. I will be glad to send the marked material if you would like to see it. After making some 50 felt stockings over the years, I was surprised to find one so poorly inspected.

Downhill skiers stocking kit lacked embroidery needles and a Design Chart. Worst of all, the white felt was marked with black, wide lines and I was unable to use the stocking back piece.
