We thought we were covered until we presented a claim. Only to find out that the policy should have never been issued ? We emailed them no response, so we called spoke to a Mr. Conley who would not give any information, and we were told he would have someone in claims get back to us but YT

So i have an update : The check finally came on March 15. This has been such a horrible experience.

I had to hire an attorney and go through an interrogation process. It was the most humiliating experience to is there and have this guy suspect me of doing something wrong. The claim took 6 months to finally get paid. The entire time i was not able to purchase a new Polaris RZR.

I honestly think they tried to make me do as many things as possible to try and see if i would just give up and forget about it.

Every week was some new document that was never stated originally. If i would have had my Lawyer present during the deposition i would have spent over $5k in legal fees to fight this thing.

This has been the worst claims experience i have ever had with an insurance company. The quick details- I had a Polaris RZR stolen and the insurance professional referred my case to their SIU (Special Investigations Unit- fraud investigation) because i also had a car stolen in 2000 ( yes, 18 years ago). So they say they had to do more investigation because it was suspicious i had something stolen before. Well the RZR was recovered in another state about a week after stolen. The SIU agent looked at my Bill of Sale and it showed that i purchased the RZR "new" and he called Polaris and they told him my RZR was sold 4 months before (for $22k) i actually purchased it. Therefore he is suggesting that i didn't legally own my RZR that i paid almost $30k for. its the most ridiculous payout delay i have ever heard. He doesnt understand that a dealer can get this RZR and put a bunch of aftermarket parts on it and sell it to me for a profit ... its mind boggling that this guy even has a job. Its been a month since it got stolen and still no resolution to this. I engaged an attorney last week and hopefully get something going soon. I have spent hours with these guys trying to give them every piece of info they ask for and every time i deliver they ask for something else. You hope you never have to file a claim with an insurance company but i will tell you this is the worst i have ever heard of. They are treating me like a suspect instead of a victim.

Their cancellation policy is ridiculous

Signed up for a snowmobile policy online and a day later cancelled it because I got a better deal through my homeowners policy. When I called to cancel they said they would mail me a refund check... wish they would of told me there is a minimum $50 cancellation fee because my policy was only for $80. When my motorcycle policy runs out I'm switching companies! I have to have at least 100 words so I have to say they suck really, really, really bad. I wish I had never heard of this cheap @%# company... I try to save money and it ends up costing me more in the long run.

4 times today I tried to call for a quote waited over 5 minutes each time and the 4th time waited 10 minutes... sorry I will go elsewhere.

I called roger a quote but after 20 minuteswas still on hold waiting for a representative. The writing is on the wall. Buy your insurance elsewhere.

Markel Lost my online application

After submitting my online application for insurance on my 2015 Harley Davidson, I received a message on my screen with a quote# and advising me to call their toll-fee number, which I did. Upon speaking to a customer representative, and after numerous attempts, he could not find my online application (quote number, name, phone number, etc). So, after giving them my personal information, including address and social security number, they lost everything. Not a good situation in this day and age with issues of personal confidentiality. It doesn't speak anything positive about Markel Insurance. If they can't handle a simple online application, how good would they be at handling policies and claims?

Bogus Insurance company!!!!! Dont go for it!!!!!

I had Markel Insurance for my Motorcylce - Signed up for a year with a decent price. 20 days later they bump my premium to double. When i called and cancelled my insurance, they took 30% of my yearly premium which was ridiculous as a cancellation fee. Then they tell me it was on the policy documents as a fine print on page 21. They said 90% only will be returned. They just cheated me on this basis and lost valuable money when i cancelled Markel. Also, i had to wait 45 minutes to get a rep to talk to me. Same goes to claim process i guess... this is easy way of making money i guess.. Bogus company and bogus everything.. Really mad at them!!!!!

Did you look on your declarations page to see if there was a minimum earned premium? If so, then YOU agreed to pay that when you signed the documents to engage the policy.

Quite honestly, you did save money by going direct to market. However, that's not always the best course of action, as an agent can explain things better to you.

Just like you do not work for free, neither do insurance agents, brokers, wholesalers or underwriters.

Hostile MC wreck settlement

I was rear-ended at a stop light at night on my motorcycle. Knocked out and thrown into middle of intersection, awoke when cops arrived and was transported to ER by ambulance. Bike totaled; other car towed. No major injuries, but banged up knees (one remains arthritic over a year later), and strained muscles everywhere. Follow-on treatment of knee scans due to persistent pain, and physical therapy for back and neck. Went to Markel after getting settlement from perp's insurance. Markel treated me as a criminal, saying I had no injuries, no pain. Hung up on me for being "uncooperative" when I calmly tried to explain the facts to their adjuster, who would interrupt me any time I tried to say something. Had to have a lawyer handle it.

Markel - Comparable material & quality, & used for the same purpose

I had commercial insurance with Markel - Essex insurance company for lodging business. - Insurance cover Commercial property. In OCTOBER 2011 we had strong winds damage. I have claimed damage roof. It took more than 4 month to get partial repair claim. Bottom line is three tabs singles are discontinues with same color. Thus I could not find same color, Insurance company represent said used different color. My concern was it should be same color because lodging business, it does not look good with two different colors. So I said please replace roof with some color singles. Since in insurance policy - contract said "The Cost to replace the lost or damaged property with other property, a) Of comparable material and quality and used for the same purpose." ...... So Insurance is not liable to replace with same color singles. So I am not happy with Markel ESSEX insurance company.

A deception from Markel Insurance Company

I highly do not recommend to deal with Markel Insurance Company as their agents make a complete deception. I was trying to get health insurance with maternity coverage and agent Lawrence (877-883-**** ext. 2013) said that he has this coverage and when I've got the plan to review - it has nothing in common what he said by phone (the plan absolutely didn't cover maternity care). Also need to mention that it was 3rd call from him so he was 100% aware that we need only maternity coverage and nothing else at all. Unfortunately my husband gave him credit card information, so we've got charged and that agent said that you can cancel the plan any time till the effective date - "just call me". It was lie again - when I called to cancel he said "we just a broker" and told to call to the Homeland Healthcare and it took hours to deal with Homeland Healthcare and explain that I want full refund for the plan I never used. Now I know that the plans with maternity coverage don't not exist anymore and that agent from Markel knew that too and he lied so awfully. When I called him to cancel the plan he didn't want to talk to me as soon he got the idea why I am calling and he transferred my call to another sales person that wanted to "improve" my plan with higher premium, Needless to say that those people are the most disgusting people I ever had do deal with. Please be aware. I still didn't finish with Homeland Healthcare to get refund.
