Mako Invent

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I want to write this post in order to express my feelings about Mako Invent and the work they have provided us with.

My partner and I have reached out to Mako Invent about 6 months ago expecting a good quality conceptual service. After paying around 6.000$ we are glad to say that the money was worth the result. The company owner and manager Kevin and James have always been understanding, helpful and looking for solutions when questions and incertitudes were arising. The design team have a great amount of experience using professional CAD software such as SolidWorks which makes the conceptual look really professional.

Even though we had some misunderstandings with the firm like in any business relationship, Mako Invent has always responded professionally and we would definitely recommend their services to any start-up company with limited ressources wishing to see their idea come to life.

Mako Client

Despite my product not being a success, I am extremely happy I chose to work with Mako and would use them again in a heart beat. From the very early stages they were transparent with me that my product had a 50/50 probability of success.

Throughout the design and prototyping processes, they ensured that every detail was taken care of and I could tell they genuinely cared and wanted to see my product become successful. Unfortunately my product has not been a success thus far.

Without getting into all of the details, I don't believe it is going to be a success for the very same reasons James pointed out when we first talked. I'm still glad I went through the process and would not hesitate to do so again and use Mako.

Extremely Satisfied Client

I read the reviews here and have to wonder how people have had negative experiences when mine has been so incredible.

In June 2014 I signed on as a client after having done quite a bit of research on different companies that could help me develop a product. James and the team at Mako liked my idea but felt it needed a larger target market. With a few changes they suggested it was no longer such a niche product and was now something any health care related staff could use. I was quoted 90 days and $6500 for design. The price was on the lower average of what I was quoted by a total of 5 firms and the timeline was acceptable. The design was completed within 60 days and I can certainly say I felt like my $6500 was well spent! When I was given a ballpark for a prototype and manufacturing cad of $8,000 to $10,000 I felt that was reasonable and again it was inline with what I received elsewhere. When I was officially quoted, the design being simplified meant my prototype quote was only $7,000.

So 4 months in and where do I stand?

Well my design and prototype are completed. I've been able to have an initial meeting with a retailer that James introduced me to and they loved the design. The financials makes sense for them as well so I am extremely positive things will work out.

What I liked so much about my experience was that whether it be James, Son, Robert or any of the other designers I've met, they are all so knowledgeable and professional. I don't think I'd be in the same position as I am now with another firm. I also like that they are realistic. They never garaunteed this project would be a success and I felt did a great job in making sure I knew that there is always a gamble when developing products.

I'd recommend using Mako to develop a product to anyone! They are a great group and I genuinely felt that despite how busy they were with other projects that mine was always their top priority. I'm sure all their clients feel that way though.

I'm a current client of Mako's as well and I'll agree with Barb that they are busy. They've grown so much in the 4-5 months I've known them and it is great to see a local company hiring more staff! I'm proud to call myself one of their clients.

Mako Invent is world class!

I was hesitant to reach out to or use Mako Invent after reading some reviews on here. I'm glad I reached out to them regardless. They have a new VP that joined in March and while the team must have been good before, James Chalmers is world class and a gentleman!

I first approached them in May to look at a product I've been working on for over 6 years. After spending $17,000 with Invent Help and $22,000 with Spark Innovation, I found myself still without a marketable product. Why James impressed me so much is that he was honest enough to say my idea wouldn't be a success because the demand wasn't there. Other products already solved the issue I was trying to solve and better. He refused to quote me and I was ready to spend another $20,000+ to make it work.

His knowledge is impressive, but the standards he sets for himself and his team nothing short of world class. I'm working on a much simpler product now and can't wait to show it to the team at MAKO and move it forward.

I will update my progress shortly.

MAKO is the company name and MAKO Invent seems to be one division.

I have been a past client of Mako's before James and I can say that the team as a whole are really great. Now that my product is in the market, I've met with James but the company is much bigger than just 1 guy. Jonathan B

Mako International Corporation - Service Payments Review from Cambridge, Ontario

I'm working whit them now for the first time and had no problems I just made my first payment of 1667$

And the project is goin to cost almost 7000$ just for the design it self and I think that's a fair price considering there time and engery they put in it and not mention there connections with the industry so if any were to Change or if they want to put there expertise on my project in the end I get the last say

They build your prototype and then leave you to go from there. They have NO connections.

Get out while you can before they take you for over $20,000 like me and then left me high and dry to try market, licence and sell it.

They are scam artist. The company is said to be owned by the parents but it's a kid who runs it.

I just logged on to the Corporations Canada site and did a search. Kevin is indeed the owner, not his parents.

If you have a personal beef with Kevin, why not just be open about that. All I read from your posts are personal attacks. I have been a client of theirs n the past and am happy to say their industry connections meant I got listed at Walmart and they generated the initial order. Unfortunately I dropped the ball and decided to manufacture and as such have now been de-listed.

My lesson... I should have let them manage that portion as well.

Satisfied Current Client

After reading all the accusations I can’t help but to share my experience with Mako International.

To clear some doubts, I am not employed by Mako. I am a husband, a father of 3 wonderful children, work full-time and reside in Hamilton, who want to get an idea out to be profitable.

Kevin and his design team has been good to me and met all my needs professionally and technically. We have gone through 5 revisions and Mako has been supportive and iron out all issues specially safety. Kevin took time to help me present the Idea to a prospective investor at his office even though Kevin was not at his best physically at that specific time. That is what I call Dedication.

If my first product becomes profitable, I will have enough funding for few more of my ideas and I will definitely use Mako. As far as I am concern, Mako International in Toronto Is GENUINE, HONEST, LEGITIMATE and RELIABLE.

I WILL DEFINITELY RECOMMEND MAKO TO ANYBODY TO USE THEIR EXPERTISE. You will find my testimonial on their web site with my contact info.
