Rediculous over charging on appliance parts

The glass on my induction cook top became cracked. I called the company M and M Appliances, in Washington DC for a replacement part (I had the model number) and they insisted they had to send someone out to "look" at it before I could order the part and it be installed. The guy came with a work order that stated "Cooktop won't start." - which was NOT the case. I was charged $106. for 15 minutes of his time when all he did was look at it. I insisted he call the store to find out how much the part would cost and what installation would cost. I was quoted $1,125 for the part and $99.00 per half hour for installation. I was dumbfounded! I ordered the part on line for less that $700 including shipping and will get my local electrician to install it for $150. So $850 instead of close to $1,500 is quite a difference. M and M were very rude to me when they call to get payment and order the cook top when I told them I'd found it cheaper.
