Review from Fairfax, Virginia

Very rude car salesman and manager that I had ever dealt with in my life of car buying. I'm a single mother, looking to buy a more spacious car for my child and myself. I called them and told them that I will get there late due to rush hour. They said they will wait for me. After driving an hour and a half to get there, test drove the car, sat down and negotiate on the numbers. Just because I need to calculate my budget, they gave me a hard time and the car salesman told me that I wasted his time while he could have been home with his 2 kids, while I am paying somebody to watch my child for me so my child would not get in the way of stalling. They called me the next day and apologized and to come back in. At that time, I had gone somewhere else and very satisfied at another location

Was lied to at point of sale

Spent 2 1/2 hours negotiating a deal with a salesperson to come to an agreement on a certain vehicle. I put down a $500 dollar good faith deposit in hopes of getting the vehicle that I wanted. Once they had me hooked, they tried to reel me in with available inventory, never once mentioning that they would or could just order my vehicle for me, at this time it was not an option. Over a period of 4 days after the point of sale, I was offered 3 different vehicles, talked to the General Sales Manager, and finally the General Manager of the dealership, all of which stated that this is normal business practice for them. That they prefer to lie to you at the point of sale in hopes of hooking you into buying a car that is on the lot. They find nothing wrong with this practice and defend themselves all the way to the top. To me it is a matter of professional ethics. If you are a car salesperson and you look me in the eye and tell me that you are going to get me the vehicle that I want, then that is what I expect, even if you need to order one. I do not want to be talked into buying another vehicle that is on the lot. There assumption, that everyone who comes to there dealership wants to have a vehicle here and now and will "settle" for something less than what they want if the price is right, is how they complete most transactions and apparently works very for them. I can tell you for a fact that not every customer who visits their dealership feels that way. Not every new car buyer wants to be talked into buying a car they do not want. If you insist on going to this dealership than check to see that the car that you want is on the lot first, and hope that you can settle for the color and options that they are offering. I have since contacted 4 other dealerships in the area, and two of them have mentioned that they could order my vehicle in the opening discussions. Rather than force Lustine into doing something they do not want to do, I am going to try and make deal with another dealership, and hope things turn out better.

Quote a price and then refused to sell

I have requested a quote for Rav4 XLE front wheel drive and the dealership quoted a price for 21789.00 and plus 399.00 for processing fee and 845.00 for dealership fee.from the dealership they called me several time and finally when he assured me that they have stock and ready to sell I have agreed to go to the dealership in the morning at 9:30 am with my family. They have only one stock car which is not inspected yet,he assure us to give the delivery within 45 minutes,we waited until 1:00p.m.Then they refused to give 500.00 cash bonus, then we left the dealership. After half an hour later they called twice and let me know that the offer they give us will be honour for today only and they don't say any reason. Then I called the so called general Manager Mr.Ameen and he told me the same thing. Then I have agreed to buy the car on that Price and he again assure me that there will be no change of price and car will be ready before we go there and just take the time to sign the paper. At six o'clock the salesman called me that the car ,model we choose that was taken by somebody else, however I can choose from three different color,Then we choose one and requested him to get it ready before we arrive there at 7.00 pm and he agreed. As per agreement,we reached there in time. We sat there for almost an hour with the hope that they were processing our papers, and astonished that they were playing a game with us. Then they told us that we would have to pay more for the car we had already agreed on! We asked them the reason, and their response was they don't have the car and they would have to bring it from another dealership. We tried to contact Mr.Ameen, but failed. Then we felt as if they were cheating us, and we left the dealership.

LUSTINE TOYOTA WILL NOT NEGOTIATE WITH CUSTOMER!

My wife and I bought a Toyota Yaris last fall, for what we were told would be less than $19,000. After the paperwork was complete, however, the actual "sale" price came to $28,383.84. Monthly payments would be $394.22 for 72 months. The "deal" included several costly "service" contracts that we thought were included in the original price, but instead added nearly $10,000 to the cost. We cancelled $4,500 worth of the contracts and requested that the resulting reduced price of the Yaris be refinanced by the dealer's finance group, Toyota Financial Services (TFS), which collects payments through a Carol Stream, Illinois, location. TFS, however, refused to refinance the contract, claiming it is an "indirect lender," and not able to recalculate or refinance a car deal. Turns out TFS is not subject to government regulations or other usual credit-granting rules. Lustine's management also refused to renegotiate or reduce the usurious cost of the car. Now, unless we return the vehicle to Lustine Toyota -- in a credit-ruining "voluntary reposession" --we will pay TWICE the Blue Book value ($13,638) for the Yaris over the course of six years. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM LUSTINE TOYOTA UNLESS YOU ENJOY DEALING WITH UNABASHED GREED.

DOUBLE CHARGING CROOKS

AVOID this place like the plague! In my opinion they are completed crooks! Do not use this dealership. They will charge you mulitiple times to repair the same thing. Never repairing the item at all. DO NOT GO TO THIS DEALERSHIP! PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF THE MONEY AND HEADACHE! I brought my car in for repair because a maint. light was on (though the car was in great driving condition). 3 days later the light was on again. They never returned my call. When they did... the Owner said if I wanted the car repaired AGAIN... I would need to pay another $2800 on top of the $1500 I paid the first time just 2 or 3 weeks before to have the light repaired. CROOKS CROOKS in my opinion.... COMPLETE CROOKS!

Lustine Toyota, Woodbridge VA - bait & Switch

I negotiated a price on a new Camry XLE. I was driving quite some distance but because I had competitvely shopped the vehicle I knew it was a good price and worth it. When I got there they told me that the price would be $1,500 more than we had agreed because I did not qualify for certain incentives - they should have told me this before having me come down. Then I showed them a price from another dealer and asked them to beat it by $300 since they had misled me. Instead they came back with a price $600 more than their competitor. I walked, but extremely disappointed they wasted my valuable time.

Total Lies on the Phone and Quoted more price later

I had an offer from some other dealers and I spoke to Salesman Issac and Manager Nadeem on phone and they said that they will honor me better deal than what I have and when I went to store the deal they offered me is worst and highest of all I had before. They did not even match the deal I had or honor better deal but gave me bad deal with more price quote even though they promised on phone. Its all false statements from them. They just waste your time.I felt they will rip me off if I buy from them.

Lies & unethical business behavior. Horrible GUEST behavior

Dear Mr. Giddings, In today's economy customer treatment and ethical behavior are the difference between a companies survival and its demise. I felt it pertinent to bring my personal experience to your attention. After reading the reviews and complaints posted against your organization , i feel uncertain if this email will make a difference, none the less being working for a fortunate 10 company in a senior management role, i was disgusted by my experience on Jan 15, 2012 at your location. At approximately 2.00pm after extensive research on the inter-net under yahoo.cars.com, i found the listing for BMW X5 2009 for sale, at your location with a listing price of $34, 998. i placed a call to your organization and spoke with a sales representative Mr. Nico. This gentleman was hispanic in origin. I explained to him that i had been researching on the internet and found on Yahoo.cars.com, the above mentioned vehicle at your location. I inquired if the vehicle was still available, its current mileage and asking price? Mr. Nice confirmed that the vehicle was indeed available, it had 39, 000 miles and the asking price is $32,900. I was quite please to hear that the price mentioned by the associate was even less that currently stated on the internet. The reason for inquiring about the mileage was due to the fact that car fax reported (irregularities in the mileage reported and suggested the mileage be confirmed in reference to this vehicle). I inquired regarding the financing options and if their were any other BMW X5 in the inventory. The sales associate confirmed this was the only BMW. Upon his asking, i informed him that my credit score was well above 710 to which he stated the 2.9% financing options for 60 months. I further inquired about the 72 month financing option and he stated why don't you come in and see the vehicle and let's talk face to face. I told him that i would be their in approximately 2-2.5 hrs. He stated that he will have the car ready for the driving inspection. We were looking to purchase this vehicle for my wife and 19 month old son. We travelled from Springfield to Woodbridge to test drive this vehicle. After meeting Nico we waited for 15 minutes and still their was no vehicle to be seen. Finally Nico brought the sales manager a caucasian elderly male who apologized and informed us that the vehicle is dirty and the key has been taken by the person who was suppose to clean the vehicle. Much to our dismay, we had been looking forward to test driving the vehicle. We were told that we could see the vehicle because it had been left open . After looking at the vehicle we sat down with Nico at his desk. I had informed him that we have two options available. We could either exchange our current vehicle Mercedes -benx E320 and finance the remaining or put forward $15,000 in cash and finance the remaining amount. After 15 minutes of being asked all kinds of intrusive question including regarding my education, to which i replied to Nico that i had completed my MBA in 2010. I was informed that all this was being done to establish my identity as the car owner, in spite of the fact that i had provided my drivers license, along with my car registration and documents detailing the car had been paid off along with the car title. Nico filled out two forms and on one of the forms he filled out the details of the vehicle. He ran some numbers. He wanted me to initial the form what indicated the price of the vehicle from the internet as being $34,998 so that he can take all the facts to his manager. I refused to initial the form and informed him that just 2 hours ago he had mentioned the price of the vehicle as being $32,900. He than crossed out the 34,998 price stated on the internet to the price he has mentioned to me earlier on the phone and took that to the sales manager. He then came back to take my car keys to the manager to check out the vehicle. After about 10minutes he came back suggested that manager is willing to exchange the car for $10K AND I WOULD HAVE TO FINANCE AROUND APPROXIMATELY $26k PLUS CHANGE. I informed him that the numbers are incorrect the price stated earlier was 32,900 and if you minus 10,000 that leaves 22,900. Nico then went on the companies official website and quoted the price as $35,998 and simply stated that this is the price the manager has indicated. At this point i stated the price as being even higher than quoted earlier on Yahoo.cars.com. He then crossed out the 35,998 price and rechanged it to $34,998 on the same piece of paper. Upon questioning NICO in reference to the information NICO had provided me earlier it seemed that the story had suddenly changed to we had several BMW X5 that we had sold and so we made a mistake. It seemed to me that this may have been suggested by the sales manager to cover for the associate's earlier error. He made this statement after he had come back from discussing my specific case with the sales manager. I indicated to him that my final offer is 32,000 based on our earlier quote of $32,900 and he made me initial this and took it to the manager. The manager personally appeared with the dcouments Nico had provided him. The manager seemed uncaring of my plight to above mentioned facts. To further add insult to injury the manager stated and i quote' IT SEEMS THAT YOU HAVE SOME EXPERIENCE AS HAVING MANAGED A BUSINESS", once i had informed him of my dismay of the entire situation. Through his actions, i felt as if i was being dismissed and was of no importance to him as a client. This all occurred between 4.30-6.00pm on Jan 15, 2012. As i returned home and rechecked the internet price on yahoo.cars , it seemed that the price had been changed to reflect what they were claiming was correct. The experience left me humiliated. I felt on several occasions that i was being lied to about the price to cover for their personal mistakes ( Sales manager mistakes). The sales manager was dismissive in mannerism. Sincerely, Amar Shami

Unfortunately we had a similar problem. I will be posting my review later.

There has got to be someone higher up.

DENNIS AND GIDDINGS both could careless about their customers or their shoddy business tactics. Says a lot when the VP's office is in the front of the dealership, some of their employees have never met him!

This is not a sales manager mistake. It is bait and switch, a common practice. It is clear you do not have much exposure to the automotive purchase process.

Guest

You have an MBA. Can u analyze the situation and determine if u would be better off selling your Mercedes privately?

Guest

Bait and switch is very common. Just be mentally prepared for it in the future, and move on.

Walk out if necessary. Why waste money on BMW or MB ?

Guest

I am so sorry you had this experience, and you can tell by the response from Noname that is one of them. I am very familiar with this organization and they are ALL crooks, liars, felons and crackheads.

If you don't believe me just take a moment before you do any business there, talk to the GM Mr Giddings. He is insincere, pasty white and sweaty looking.

What is that saying "If it looks like a crackhead and sounds like a crackhead, it probably.... :eek

Lustine dealer in woodbridge try to rip off customer

To mr. JAMES GIDDINGS vice president lustine automotive group.

I bought a new car SCION XD on MAR. 30 2012 for $17,059.00, I had refused the offer from one of the employee who offered me the guaranty and insurance package for that car. But when signing the paper for financing the car, mr. HARRY JAISINGH THE FINANCE MANAGER just bring all the package for insurance and told me to sign these papers without explaining what is the price add up to the car, only thing he disclosed to me is it cost only $16.00 a month and I will have all the protection.

I thought at that time it only cost $500.00 for life time, at the end he did not show me the list price for the car, he just folded the whole document that I had signed to the envelop. when I went home I was hurry to prepair to go to work and did not take a look in the price list, and when I had a chance to read , the price that I have to pay is $23,497.30. On April 2nd I went back to LUSTINE TO CANCEL all the insurance he added to the car and said to mr. JAISINGH I rather paid off than financing it through LUSTINE.

He told me I have to wait 2 months for the cancellation to be in effect, and I still have to pay the interest for $23,497.30 for the 2 months. I get *** off when I am ready to pay off and he still did not cancel all the insurance that I don't want (He only cancelled $4,785.00 instead of $7,301.00) I have to come back and asked him to correct it, still he make me confuse with his hand writing which is not clear, I have to call him and said I am *** off and will report it to the consumer report protection. He told me he correct that and I will have the amount of $7,301.00 deducted from the car.

Now that cancellation is done (If it is really, I don't know yet untill I received the bill from TOYOTA FINANCING to pay off the car) but why it take 2 months for the cancellation to go into effect, I did not wait for 2 weeks to cancel it? Is that another way to ripp off customer.

Because for 2 months waiting period I still have to pay the interest of $23,497.00.

I this the way LUSTINE make money out off customer! I came back after 3 business days to cancel the insurance (I bought the car on Friday and came back on Tuesday to cancel it).

Do NOT go to LUSTINE TOYOTA!

My complaint is bouncing around in the BBB now. I bought a vehicle under false-pretenses of having 3rd row seating. Upon arriving home and, surprise, no 3rd row, I contacted the dealership and said "are you serious?" The dealer himself admitted he was surprised there was no 3rd row, for me to come back in and we can fix it. Long story short "fixing it", meant spending thousands more than I had already spent. Offering me newer vehicles was the only option. I only wish I had done a simple internet search of Lustine Toyota before all of this began, I would of never stepped in to the dealership.

Sounds like your problem for not checking the vehicle before taking delivery. I dont work for this dealership but be for real if 3rd was a big buying point for you why wouldn't that be the first thing you check on. Could had been an honest mistake by the salesman or he just played off you stupidity to make a deal that day.

Guest

To "me": the 3rd row folds down, they all look the same. Nice try though, are you friends with this dealership, or just have enough time to go read comments about them?

Guest

Are you blind or *** if you cant tell if there was a 3rd row before buying it? :eek :eek

Things aren't always what they seem at Lustine

In November 2009 I moved to the area and rented a vehicle for myself and my two children (1 and 3) for about 3 weeks. I did not know anyone in the area that could refer me to a dealership so at first I tried craigslist. There was a lovely 2009 Camry Hybrid that a owner was selling for $20,000 but I wanted a larger vehicle with 4WD. I drove around to different dealerships looking for my ideal vehicle and eventually ventured to the lot of Lustine Toyota of Woodbridge, VA. I told the dealer I really wanted a Hybrid 4WD vehicle but doubted I could afford it. He told me they could check and that they actually had a 2010 Limited Edition Highlander Hybrid (my dream car) on the lot and I could take it for a test drive. I was so excited. My children and I took the Highlander for a test drive and I was amazed at everything about the vehicle. We got back to Lustine and they ran my information and said I was approved for a lease of the vehicle. I signed the paperwork to lease a 2010 Limited Edition Highlander Hybrid and I made an appointment for the next week to have the company install protection for the inside and outside of the vehicle and the LoJack system. We left in my dream car and I was elated to have such an impressive vehicle. I returned the next week to have Lustine complete this work only to be greeted with utter rudeness, "You did not give us a proper phone number, we've been trying to contact you since you left. You were approved for all but $10,000 of your loan/lease. You must pay us this money upfront, find someone to co-lease or choose another vehicle." There I was in a new area, knowing no one to call to help me back to my hotel with my two young children. What kind of company allows someone to drive off the lot before making sure that they can take the vehicle. I know I gave them the proper phone number because all I had was a cell phone which was always on me and I had no missed calls from them or anyone. Needless to say, I was cornered into leasing a 2010 Camry Hybrid that had over 3000 miles on it already and a scratch on the bumper that they said they would fix (grand lease total of $40,000). I could have had owned this same vehicle (in the color I wanted) for half the price if I had just stuck to the craigslist posting. I was so upset when I finally left with a vehicle I did not want that I put away the paperwork and would not look at anything relating to the nightmare until months later. When I did finally look over the paperwork I saw at the bottom of the "We-Owe" LoJack system receipt that it was valid for only 30 days from date of issuance. I don't know if I can get this service performed or just get my $995 back but I know one thing for certain I will never ever refer anyone to Lustine Toyota.

Piece of ***, trying to sell a dangerous car.

I brought a toyota avalon the end of sept this year and I had it four days before something happen. At a stop light I went to hit the brake and the car started to slow down and then it accelerated with my foot still on the brake. I have taken this thing back to them three times and I am too scared to drive it. They have open a case on it however, they said nothing is wrong with it. we took it back and two days later it did it again. This car is very dangerous. Look out!

Lustine Toyota

The sales staff is similiar to any dealership, it takes forever to buy a car because they want a high price and you want a low price. Then they try to sell you aftermarket packages and warranties to suck more money out of you. The difference is in the management they are a bunch of crooks. I caught the Store manager (highest one that is dedicated to only Toyota) trying to bait and switch my sales contract, we agreed on a price and after he revised the contract he hid additional fees in the contract bringing the total back up to what he wanted. When I called him on it, he said it must have been a mistake. I got the price, but after dealing with the service staff I regreat it. YOU ARE ONLY A NUMBER at Lustine, if you ever have an issue they will tell you that you are wrong, I was called names and insulted in front of my seven year old daughter, and the GM told me I was wrong because I was rude and that I should appologize, he never even admitted that his manager acted unprofessional. I will never deal with Lustine again!
