Lucky Collector Car Auctions - Lucky Collector Car Auction: Flim Flam
I was solicited to place my collector cars for auction at a total cost of $200 per vehicle. This was the only cost factor presented in addition to the 10% sales commission. I was told that transportation to auction was taken care of and there was no mention of additional auction fees or work orders. I was also required to produce and sign the title for both vehicles upon signing the contract. The Only mechanical work authorized (verbal) was on Corvair not to exceed $200 with no mechanical work authorized on my Fiat. Work orders were presented only after the sale of the vehicles, showing $100 transportation and $200 auction fee per car with no credit shown for the $200 paid up front per vehicle. The total work order for the Fiat was $570 and the work order for Corvair was $1,029.92. The reserve price on both cars was set at $9,500 and thats exactly what they sold for to local buyers. I have requested an additional $1,400 refund of unauthorized charges for sale of these vehicles. Small Claims court action is pending if my request is not honored. No additional written or verbal cost factors were presented as required by consumer protection laws. Classic Flim Flam tactics!!
