Resolved: Outlandish Shipping Fees

AI Highlights
  • Lucid user for 3 years with no product complaints.
  • Left lock broke; replacement is $9.99 and shipping is $20, totaling about $30 with FedEx.
Updated by user Feb 06, 2026

Shipping code sent for half off shipping bringing the total to $20. Not the best resolution but I accepted it.

I have been a Lucid hearing aid user for 3 years and I have no complaints about the product. My *** lock on my left aid broke and I went on your site to order more.

The price is $9.99 and the weight can't be more than an ounce or two. When I went to check out, I saw that you are charging $20 for shipping which takes my $9.99 item and costs me $30! The shipping is more than twice the price of the item which is highly unreasonable. I spoke with a rep and they told me that FedEx sets the shipping cost.

Well, it's time for you to get them to set reasonable shipping prices based on weight. Charging double the price to ship an item is poor practice and bad customer service, especially when you have customers that pay the price for a product they like and use. I don't live near a Sam's Club so I can't go there.

I would appreciate an answer to this as I have seen all the reviews on your site that overwhelmingly complain about this practice. I would like to know how you can send me *** locks at a more reasonable price and if you can't I would like for you to tell me where else I can purchase *** locks for the Engage hearing aids that will offer the item at a more reasonable shipping cost.
Pros:
  • Great hearing aid
Cons:
  • Shipping costs for supplies is way overpriced

Preferred solution: Price reduction

User's recommendation: Beware of shipping costs

Amazon sells the exact product, same price. Shipping $6.99 or free if over $35.

Bad service

  • Paid $5,000 for battery-powered hearing aids.
  • Sam's Club rarely stocks them; free batteries must be bought elsewhere; Lucid doesn't supply stores.

Lucid has never contacted me.

Original review Apr 12, 2025

I bought a pair of hearing aids for $5,000.00 that take batteries. My local Sam's Club hardly ever have them and can't say when they'll get more.

The batteries are supposed to be free but when I need them, they tell me I have to buy them from other suppliers. I don't understand why Lucid doesn't supply their stores.

User's recommendation: Shop elsewhere.
