Paid for work not done

We paid LTD $290 to rebuild our carburetor, which they stated would fix our power lagging issue. The first time we took the boat out after getting it from LTD, it broke down immediately. When we took it to another mechanic, he said our carburetor needed to be rebuilt. I called LTD and Michelle told me to mail it to her and they would rebuild it. Since I had already paid them to rebuild it, why was I now being asked to send it to them again for them to re-rebuild it? This was our third time having them service our boat and each time we had to call them with issues and bring the boat back to them so they could fix their mistakes. I was NOT going to send her our carburetor to rebuild when they said they did, accepted my payment, and clearly did not rebuild it. I asked for a refund as we were NOT going to give them any more of our business. She refused to give us our money back saying she wanted a chance to rebuild it again. They basically stole $290 from us.

I wouldn't recommend LTD Motors to Satan.

We are disgusted with the service we've received from LTD in High Springs; their customer service, maint tech, & their work. We decided the 1st time they "repaired" our boat that we would never give them our boat again because the work that was performed did not fix the issue. But, LTD is the only known service shop near our river house, so we felt we had to send it to them to resolve the power issue & a yearly service. This time the boat still had power issues & now leaked lower unit oil, we even found THEIR tools left in our engine compartment which made us think they stopped working on the boat mid-progress & never returned to finish it. Reluctantly & now regrettably we brought it in for a 3rd time to repair the trim, water pump, & again fix the power issue. Their service tech Mike contacted us quickly & talked to me 20 min. about his extensive experience & stated that my boat was HIS priority. He told me he was confident he could resolve the issues 100%. He built himself up pretty good & my confidence was restored that they may FINALLY fix our boat. Mike called us several times the 1st few weeks letting us know what else he found to be repaired and kept us updated. We chose to have him fix all he had found wrong because he promised us 100%. After several conversations he still hadn't mentioned the power issue, so we reminded him in detail about how it sagged & struggled to get on a plane & he said he would get to it after the trim. Then, Mike basically fell off the map. We didn't hear from him or anyone at LTD for weeks on end. After 2.5+ months we had to start calling LTD almost daily for a status on our boat. At this point I honestly thought something serious happened to our boat that they were hiding. They gave us every excuse in the book, from Mike's personal problems, to him getting injured & having to miss a lot of work. Instead of reassigning the work, they let it sit! Finally after FOUR months of having our boat Michelle told us that the boat was ready to be picked up. Again we mentioned we hadn’t seen/heard anything on the power issue & reminded her that Mike said he was going to fix the power issue & check the carburetor THEY rebuilt less than one year ago & if there were issues, that he would fix that under warranty. At this point we were only talking with Michelle... I have no idea whatever happened to Mike. Michelle said that she only warranties the work done on the boat at the time, & that the carburetor would need to be rebuilt. After a bit of an argument, we decided to have them rebuild it AGAIN. Upon setting a pick up date, Michelle told us that now the starter was making a "funny" noise & that it needed to be replaced. Why they didn't mention the starter while having it 4 months - did they ever start it to test their work? We declined to give them any more business because they had already had our 4 months and that was something we could do ourselves. So, we bought the starter ourselves & installed it. On the FIRST trip out in the boat, it broke down after running less than 10 minutes - we suddenly had no power at all in our boat and had to get towed. We called Michelle & she said "I told you the boat wasn't done when you picked it up", which was an outright LIE. This was her response??? Why would we drive 3 hours to pick up a boat that wasn't done? & Why would they tell us it wasn't done after telling us it was ready? That lie didn't even make sense. She then placed blame on us for installing the starter ourselves saying "Well I don't know what you did to the boat". After we installed the starter the boat started just fine - a starter installed wrong, would have never started the boat. We had a local boat shop who fixed an electric problem. On this last trip out, our boat smoked heavily, can't get above 2500 RPM, doesn't get on a plane, and now has no pwr steering- even after spending $1900+ to get it "repaired to 100%" by them. Michelle now blames the shop that repaired the electrical issue.

They gave me a great deal on a boat & camper. Anytime I needed service or repair they had me taken care of quickly.

I even recommended my family & friends who have purchased from them, they to have had great experiences.

This is Michelle from LTD Motors, we have worked on the Brink's boat for about 5yrs. (We have all service tickets) Joe would bring us his 1998 mercruiser I/O that he would let set up in saltwater....it was clear the boat had not been maintained properly(most places would probably not work on it) He would ALWAYS want us to do a minimal repair and he would "finish it himself".

I would ALWAYS get a call a few weeks later that he did something that would screw it up. This time was no different. We worked on trim, water circ pump & carb(yes they wanted me to warranty a carb job that was at least a year old, I have no problem warranting work completed but at a year old, when the customer states they have let it set, and with so much salt corrosion your trim has froze up, I can not warranty due to owner neglect) Mr Brink knew at time of p/u the boat needed a starter and a tune up, he explained he found a $45 starter on eBay and was going to install it himself. I got a call from Mr Brink a couple of weeks later, they he installed the starter, got in the water, the boat ran great....than it died..he said "I think I wired something wrong" He wanted to know if we could give him some things to check, or have the mechanic call him.

I explained(this call came the week before Memorial Day) that we were slammed with getting customers boats ready...and if you have ever shopped or bought from me you know that my customers who purchase boats get seniority! That is my promise to them! Mr. Brink did not purchase from me, and Mr.

Brink has an email from me stating I will back my work....however my work was not the complaint...it was his. When Mr Brink called back he told an employee that he was not happy, pissed, etc. When I got on the phone and went to our previous conversation, he litterly was at a loss of words. I told him we completed all work that was on ticket, he knew when he picked it up it was not finished, and yes if your going to bring your boat in for service in the spring, will not allow a repair w/o approval, take anywhere from 2-6 days to get back with us, yes it's gonna take a while.

I guess I could of fixed everything and handed you a bill...like a lot of places would do. My customers know that I will back my work, and so does Mr. Brink...I will not back anyone else's. I do this for a living and I can assure you of someone has a problem and it's my fault I'm the first to know....and show me 1 customer who I have not taken care of!

If Mr.

Brink wants to bad mouth me to Rock Bluff and Online so be it, but I have my side of the story too. Keep in mind Joe your complaint is not work I have done on your boat....it your own!

I guess you've never googled your company, because I saw at LEAST 6 horrible reviews (and only 1 decent one) while I was posting the TRUTH about your horrible service, outright LIES, and trying to save others from being robbed blind. We keep our boat at our river house, NOT the salt water.

We purchased the starter from West Marine, NOT ebay, and it was installed perfectly, and still starts great. Joe only looks at the boat because it NEVER has run right after receiving it back from your shop... EVER. Mike was the one who promised to fix the power issue and look at the carb - which NEITHER were done - even when you had our boat FOUR months.

We're actually paying another mechanic to do the work we paid YOU to do... and refused to reimburse us for.
