Refund refusal by Nick Louma
- - Rented shingle lift; carriage came off tracks, dropping shingles.

I rented a shingle lift from London road rental for a week for a out of town roofing job. I put the sections together exactly as they told me to and the first time raising 3 bundles of shingles the carriage came off the tracks and dropped the shingles to the ground nearly injuring the operator.
We took the apparatus down to examine what happened and discovered that the guide rollers and brackets were worn and bent completely out of spec. We decided to try it again though as we had 150 bundles that needed to be on the second story roof. We put it back against the eave and attached it to the eave again. We loaded only 2 bundles this time and when it got to the upper section of the ladder about 20 feet up it did the same thing.
Dropped the shingles to the ground almost hitting the operator again! Unbelievable! At this moment we decided that we couldn't risk the chance of injuring someone so had to hand carry every bundle up a ladder to the second floor. This ended up taking 16 hours because only myself and 1 other person were on site.
When I called them Monday morning to explain the problem they said that I should have called them Sunday when they were closed. Ridiculous! They refused to admit that they are renting dangerous equipment and endangering lives so that's why I'm writing this. I have rented several shingle lifts in the past and never dealt with anything so stupid in my life!
They offered me a in store credit but I really don't want to deal with such dishonest people if I can help it.
Beware of this company in Duluth mn. After my experience with this, I was made aware that this company has been sued multiple times for similar instances but they have a rock solid indemnity contract and lots of attorneys waiting for their lawsuits to come up.
