Little Giant Ladders...really great almost

I have had a Little Giant Ladder for several years. Although a little heavy it has performed well and is very stable.
However, my complaint is twofold.
1) The red knobs at the top of the ladder that releases the ladder for folding, spin when you put your hands on them while in use. This is particularly troublesome when working close to the top of the ladder and inadvertently putting your hands on them for support. The "spinning" has nearly thrown me off the ladder several times. There does not appear to me to be any practical reason why these knobs need to spin.
2) When lowering the ladder, the cross brace are very close to the ladder on both sides. The braces have nearly caught my hands on several occasions. I have had to warn helpers about this issue so they would not hurt their hands.
