map-marker Liscomb Mills, Nova Scotia

Liscombe Lodge in Nova Scotia not quite as advertised.

My wife and I recently spent a night at Liscombe Lodge at Liscomb Mills near the eastern shore of Nova Scotia. While the location is very beautiful on the banks of a river this seasonal lodge open from may to late October is very tired looking and needs updating badly. The chalet we had (#8) was most likely at one time a very nice place to stay. Now it smells bad and the toilet was quite dirty when we arrived. In fact the toilet got cleaner each time we flushed it. The chalet was not real clean and the bathroom was barely acceptable in cleanliness. One would think for $172/night plus HST they would be getting a five star resort but I would say maybe two star at best. The food in the restaurant is mediocre at best at not top quality. Some of the food was not very fresh (fruit & salad) and likely past it's "best before date". They could do so much better! The roof shingles are curled on many of the chalets and the cleanliness would be rated as a 3 out of 10 (with 10 being the best). I could not recommend Liscombe Lodge to anyone and the owners need to invest some serious money into once was a great operation. I would suggest additional training for the housekeeping staff as well. A Super 8 Motel would be much better and less costly. This place is tired and dirty! A good place to avoid. Closed now until the spring of 2015.
