My experience was excellent!

I have read almost uniformly negative reviews of this company, Although I never write reviews, I wanted to publicize that my recent experience was excellent! A few weeks ago, I ordered a ceiling fan on a Thursday evening and was notified the next morning that it had already shipped. It was delivered to my door that Sunday and everything about the experience was positive. I saved $ and the delivery was superb! I realize I am in the minority here, but when a company does well, that fact should also be publicized.

Company took my money without delivering product, then kept postponing the delivery date.

"I placed an order on June 14 for a lamp. The website indicated the lamp was out of stock and it would be in stock on July 31, shipping August 4. Meanwhile they had the nerve to charge my account for an order they could not fill. When I checked the status of my order on August 5 the website indicated that someone else had got the last one and that they were expecting shipment again on August 31. I called the company and was put on hold for 20 minutes. I gave up and left a message for someone to call me. The next day I called again and was on hold for 30 minutes. The man who finally came on the phone was totally unconcerned over my unhappiness. He said it is company policy to charge the customer before shipping the product because they do not keep card numbers on file. He did not offer an explanation why my lamp was given to someone else/or why the lamp was on back order again. Horrible customer service. I was concerned that I was being strung along that I might not get my lamp. He could not offer me any reassurance, so I cancelled my order. Company seems unscrupulous to me. me."

User's recommendation: Read the Company reviews before ordering!

Wondering if Company is a fraud. They kept “stringing” me along.

He said it is company policy to charge the customer before shipping the product because they do not keep card numbers on file. I cancelled my order on principle! He said they would refund my money. My question is, how are they going to refund my money if they dont keep card numbers on file? Do not order from this company. Horrible customer service. It looks like a con to me."

User's recommendation: I am questioning the company’s legitimacy.

Horrible experience

Update by user Apr 17, 2021

We have had no contact from the company to resolve this. We have filed a disputed claim with VISA.

I ordered a piece of artwork from this company. When I received it the colors were not even close to what was pictured on their website. I tried to secure a return label from them to return the artwork because Fedex would not accept the return package without a return label. I emailed and called numerous times. They refused to issue the label even though I agreed to have the shipping costs deducted from my refund. Steer clear of this company. They are the worst company I have ever dealt with. Their customer service is very poor!

User's recommendation: Steer clear horrible company.

Awful Customer Service Experience!

Update by user Dec 18, 2020

Although I did get the courtesy of a call from a CSR manager, she seemed apologetic but made no offer to resolve the issue. She did identify this as a good learning experience for her staff, but that does me absolutely no good.

Upon my first call to return this item, I explained that I was trying to return an item that was too small with the intent to purchase a larger fixture. After taking my order number and pulling up my order, the representative (Kara) then asked, what is the problem? I again explained that Id like to return the fixture for a larger one. Kara then explained that Id need to shoulder the cost of the shipping. My response: I have no problem doing so. I asked whether the cost could be deducted from my refund/credit. Kara again said no, I would need to ship the item back and pay the cost on my end. She further explained that I would get an email with instructions to complete the return within 24 to 48 hours of the call. I was concerned as to why instructions for shipping would take such an inordinate amount of time, but ok. Kara then told me that I needed to keep Lighting the Web informed of the tracking progress. This again confused me, but made sense after I recd the instructions (less than an hour later) indicating that the item would be returned directly to the manufacturer (or a warehouse other than the original shipping location. With that said, already in my car, I headed to the UPS store to get the box weighed for an estimate of cost. I then discovered that the cost to return the item would be $93.nearly one half of the purchase price. I then drove down the road to FedEx, only to find that the cost there was even more$101. Upon discovering that returning this fixture will cost me nearly half the purchase price, I again called to request that an accommodation be made to provide a return label and that the cost of same be deducted from my credit (reasoning that your cost would be less, and that savings could be passed on to your customer). After a brief hold, representative #2 (Arora) returned to the line and again advised that Id have to pay a courier my cost to return the item. I press on to explain that I dont mind paying the cost for the return, I just dont want to pay nearly 50% of the purchase price. She then suggested that I sell the item to someone else, in order to avoid the high cost of return shipping. I didnt find this an acceptable solution for several reasons. After explaining that my request is not at all unusual or unreasonable, Arora then suggested that Im asking her to do something nefarious which would cost her her job! But my request is nothing out of the ordinarythis is a routine practice in eCommerce! In order to provide stellar customer service, make returns simple and convenient, and to keep customers coming back, most companies I do business with online make this accommodation for their customers. However, rather than acknowledging that Lighting the Web hasnt had the foresight or interest in meeting this very basic consumer need, or doesnt have the operational capacity to do accommodate this widely practiced standard, I am accused of attempting to purchase a discount shipping label?! I have NEVER encountered and suffered this level of offense or treatment by a customer service professional in my life!

User's recommendation: Steer clear!

Worst Online Experience

I ordered $1500 worth of light fixtures and Chandelier. Nothing matched with the pictures. They charged me for shipping and took them one week to send me their authorization number. What a rip off company. This is deceiving, misleading customers. Don't buy from them. Very poor quality , all made in China. The shades look bronze in the picture while in reality they are cream. The finish they claimed bronze is more of reddish copper color. They don't match with my other lights. I had to return them Poor customer service, no response, closing the chat on me. I will call BBB, consumer protection and Attorney General.

I have ordered $10,000+ from lighting on the web in the last 2 months. My experience has been A+++ with them. Biggest discount on the Internet, fast shipping and always arrives in great shape. I have order 1 light from another company, RH.com, and it came broken and took 2 weeks for me to receive!

Lighting the Web

I bought a Livex Light from Lighting the Web. I was told several times that there would be no re-stocking fee when I returned that light. However, Brent refused to honor their word and charged me 20% stating that it cost them $50 to ship the light. If you dont want to get ripped off, DONT BUY FROM LIGHTING THE WEB I am very disappointed that you are misled by these online companies. First they tell you it is ok to return their products if you are not satisfied, then they charge you. The light looked nothing like the picture when it was purchased.
