Con Man

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

We hired this con company, and will be suing. We had to call police twice, and Id recommend NOT using any moving company from NJ, as they are mostly all scammers, Russian con men.

Broken belongings, your expensive things will go missing, they wont deliver until they feel like it, and you will pay out the ying ying or they will hold your belongings hostage. Neg 0 Stars 10stars

Damaged Household goods

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I wish to file a complaint with you.

In January 2021, I contracted the Lighthouse Van lines to move my household goods from Pine Bush, NY to Trenton, SC. I have moved over 12 times with the United States Army and in my entire time, have never received such poor service and deceitful follow-up with any of my moves.

In January 2021, their packing team report to my home in NY.

At first, I believed their work was as requested, but as they continued to pack and load items on to their truck, I began to notice the damage left behind. My solid wood floors had several scratches and there were large chunks of walls damaged where they moved out items and gouged out large chunks of plaster, chips in the baseboards and flooring.

They made messes in all three of my bathrooms after use which required my wife to go back and re-clean because couldnt seem to hit the toilet and one toilet was left with fecal matter in the bowl. I contacted the company about the damages and was refunded a check for $150.00 for all the damages they did; which was wholly insufficient. I repaired most of the damage myself in an effort to help the company keep the costs down and the repairs were required in order to complete the sale.

We arrived in SC and our household goods were place in storage until we closed on the new house; approximately 30 days in total.

We scheduled and had delivery on 21 February 2021. Many of the boxes that arrived were smashed or damaged and some items were missing. We took pictures as instructed, filed the claim and waited for a response. Based on estimates received, there was in excess of $4000.00 damage.

After speaking with their agent, I was informed that the owner was, difficult to deal with and that I would most likely not be reimbursed the total amount; and, as a result, only received a total of $150.00 for all of the damage to my NY property incurred by this so called moving company. I initially filed the claim on 1 April 2021 for the damaged goods upon arrival and unpacking in South Carolina. I was talked in to accepting a reimbursement total of $250.00 after several months of unreturned messages and going back and forth. I filled out the forms and sent them to their Assistant Claims Manager who told me to expect payment within 30 to 60 days.

On 20 June 2021, I again contacted the Assistant Claims Manager and was told that they would be getting back to me. On 21 June 21, I received an email back from her stating that the individual who writes the reimbursement checks was out on vacation and would not return for another week.

On 29 June 2021, I received another email stating that, unfortunately, the owner denied this claim.

I have called and emailed several of this companies representatives and to date, not had any reply back. I finally got in touch with a claims examiner today (26 July 2021) who informed me that he had approved my request and submitted it to his assistant who sent the request forward to the owners wife; who happens to be the companies book keeper/accountant, and once with here, was then disapproved.

Scammed, burned at every step

They gave me an estimate for about $2900 for a move from New York to Georgia. It seemed too low; but when they raised to about $4200; I thought they are legitimate, I gave them a deposit of $759 and the rest to be paid half at pickup and half at delivery.

So far so good

On pickup date they refused to pickup unless I pay almost $8400; because according them I have more stuff. In reality I had sold Items such as dresser; computer table; bed; outdoor furniture.

My box count was higher than 40 because I had packed smaller boxes lightly due to my arthritis since my closing was 2 days away I relented. They kept my furniture for 23 days awY

On delivery day they milked me for another $600 cash so I ended up paying about $9000

They broke various item and dumped my furniture in storage and apartment

It was a GREAT BIG MISTAKE

LIGHTHOUSE VANLINES

DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY

repeat.. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!

My first mistake was letting this company talk me into letting me hire them by telling all the other companies would subtract, which was exactly what they did.

The manager (I can't remember HER name) was very rude once I put down a deposit, treating to keep it because I didn't like the date. They are liars. I didnt receive my belongings for 2 weeks and had no idea where they were. Come to find out, they lost one of my TV's which they did compensate me for.

I've had my things in storage for 7 months and now that I'm unpacking I'm finding out they have lost some of my other belongings. The mover that delivered to the destination could talk about nothing but his tip the whole time he was unloading. I had to keep explaining to him..

YOU DON'T ASK..

YOU GET OFFERED.

This was a horrible experience and I recommend to everyone if you are smart you will take my advice and look elsewhere.

Run don't walk from Lighthouse Vanlines USDOT 191057

Although this moving company claims to be customer service oriented, I have had several problems with them; - They misplaced over 5 items including a 6ft. stainless table - They mis-shipped / delivered several items from another customer and were NON responsive in returning to retrieve items nor responding to numerous phone calls and requests by email to do so despite being immediately notified and having emailed a picture of the inventory tag affixed to someone else's property.

- The driver said he would return to pick up items and assemble some furniture but did not do so despite both calls to him and the Lighthouse corporate office. I have the emails to back up my complaint to Lighthouse Vanlines / USDOT 191057
