Liberty Language Services - On Sight Interpreters Review

I have been working as a contractor for this agency for a year now. I would say it's a good beginning for exposure to the field only.

As soon as new interpreters are recruited you will be getting scarce assignments due to the fact they want them to pay off their training program. Assignments are distributed first to the new birds, and you will be given one hour leftover in a week or longer which is unfair. I have met concidentally with the new interpreters and spoke to them and they were busy all week and said they get a lot of assignments and when confronting the agency with this their answers are all lies. I Highly RECOMMEND that if you consider working for them you should have another job on the side because they will only send you the last minute request when they are so desperate for you otherwise you are unworhy.

Take the job that pays more and offers you the competitive pay and cover their assignments if you have free time. To the founder try to be fair to your interpreters.

Only Interpreting Agency that treats Interpreters like Humans

I always get paid on time. The staff really understands when I have to cancel an assignment or can not accept one.

If I ever need more or fewer assignments I call schedule department and someone helps me. They always open to suggestions. I feel Ive made friends here and are not just a contractor but part of a family. They even have picnics every year to show there appreciation for there interpreters.

I enjoy working with Liberty for 3 years now. They make me feel like I know about the past of the owner but he never try to hide it.

He is a new man and I can respect that and respect him. Thank Liberty for all you do.

Naive Interpreter, Be Aware of Liberty's Tactics!

It doesn't matter how long you worked in the field, Liberty will force you to buy their training program. And this will results in offering free service for them a few months.

After finally paying off the fee, they don't offer you many hours. Believe me, you would get enough hours. They said, it is because some interpreters respond quickly to take the assignments. If that's the case, why do they keep recruiting new people?

Obviously they don't have enough tasks. I realized that I won't be their priority because they actually have to pay me.

Either they are desperate for money or simply don't care for the interpreters. Don't waist your time!

Yes, I agree. I don't get emails for all jobs available.

It is only barely couple of times in a week and at random timings. I wonder how people are always ready to get those jobs. Either they know through private messages so they are ready to accept the jobs.

Mostly I get jobs available next day or less than 24 hours, seems like no one else accepted them. No one responses to emails and text/voice messages at all.

Dear Interpreter;

I apologize you had this experience, there are so many factors that go in to which interpreter is selected for each assignment. Some times certain languages can receive a high level of request in a single month and others not as much.

This field is unpredictable, but to ensure you always have assignments join as many agencies as possible.

No interpreter can be forced to take our training. However, some (or most) of our clients require a certain training for the field. We will accept training from any other accredited agency, but this is a requirement that we have to fulfill for some of our clients.

If an interpreter chooses not to take the training they can be on our list for non-professional appointments.

We try to offer the student a chance to take the course without paying upfront so people who do not have the means can have a chance to get the training. I apologize you had this experience. I hope you will give us a chance to try and fix your concerns. Please call 888-746-**** Ext.

3 and ask for Silvia. We will see what went wrong here. When we do fill a role for a language we try not to recruit for that language unless we have an issue filling appointments for that language. It is very possible that in this case we missed something.

When we make a mistake we pride ourselves on trying to fix it. If you did bring this up to Silvia in the past please tell her you want to talk to Timothy Worster. You will be transferred to me.

Everyone at Liberty wants those that come in contact with us, from the office staff, interpreters, clients, and LEP's to have a good experience when coming into contact with our company.

We also want to state, that if you are a contractor, we encourage all contractors to join as many agencies as possible to ensure they will get enough appointments. Liberty should not be the only source of income for the contractor. Again we apologize that you had this experience. This company tried to *** me for some money to take their training. When I said I already have 15 years of experience and I don't need any training beside some overview of company policy.

Man agreed to mail me for free some reading material. Number of phone call followed. Never saw any reading material. I think this company don't have any business for freelance interpreters.

They just want to sell the training materials, that is basically available on the internet for free.

I ask them for some references related to their contract with any courts etc. None was furnished.

Applicant,

I am writing on behalf of Liberty Language Services, LLC. I apologize you had this experience.

There are some fields of interpretation where the standards governing the profession have required a specific interpreter training. This is mainly pertaining to the Medical Field. We do offer a legal training; however, we do not have much legal work at this time. Our main focus for on-site interpretation is Medical.

Independent contractors do not have to take training if they elect not to, but for the clients that demand these training requirements we cannot send interpreters without it.

We are not the only company that provides this training in the DC Metro area. We accept certificates from any of those agencies, as long as they meet the 40 hour requirements, and most do. We have had a quite a few interpreters that have been in the field for a long time, and they do not feel like they need the training.

To be honest, they may not need the training. But when we get audited by the Joint Commission we need to have those training certificates on file, or we could lose our contracts with some of our clients.

Again I apologize you had this experience. There are a few agencies that are using interpreters without any official training, we are not one of those.

Tim respects any complaints that have even the remote possibility of being from a client, interpreter, or former employee. The man posting these attacks are none of the above.

I believe in second chances, if this man did wrong on the past and now is doing good nobody has the right to judge him anymore because probably he already paid his debt with the society. the key word here is rehabilitation, I believe those post are just jealousy and hate, as a society we want our offenders to do right, to change and to rehabilitate, High five to this young man that I don't even know but judging for his business apparently he is doing great now.

We have to feel proud of people like him. I do know people without criminal record and they are not doing anything and living from the welfare.

My name is Johnna Houglum and I am the PROUD mother of this young man. He has been the victim of a person that has no sense of fair play.

This person posts all these things because my son has become 10 times more the man that he will never be. There is a story to tell and my son would NOT be the villain he would be the hero. He has risen from adversity and become a wonderful, giving, compassionate, intelligent individual. He is the most caring father, husband and son.

There is no one else on earth that can compare to him as a son. His business sense and integrity is above reproach. I am not just his mother, I am his friend, his employee and his greatest admirer. Few men could have accomplished what he has accomplished even under the best of circumstances but he did it with this man hounding him and slandering him and stabbing him in the back at every turn and more to the credit of my son, he has turned the other cheek again and again and again and NEVER done anything under handed back at this "ANONYMOUS" person.

We do know who this person is and we choose to just continue to work on the things that matter and not to give any significance to this extremely insignificant anonymous person. As you saw at the beginning of this post, i am not afraid nor ashamed to tell you who I am and what I stand for. Life is too short to let people try to get you down and my son and our whole family are taking the high road.

We do believe that this is the road to success both professionally and personally. May all who read this post be blessed beyond belief.

He may be have bad history for few years when he was a single but it is not the end of the world . Now he is a great person with family .

Come on ! even Juses Forgave people , who are you to judge people !
