Prostate Surgery

This is what I sent to my doctor. I have several items I want to relate; this may go on for several messages. First yesterday when I woke up, I had a very intense burning sensation in my bladder. I determined that catheter was blocked. I call the Urology number right away to find out what to do. I had to call three times to convince the answering service that I needed to speak to someone. After some 20 minutes waiting on the phone, I got to speak to someone who at first was very dismissive of my issue. SEE NEXT MESSAGE. Urolift continued, once I made the person on the phone understand that I had a real issue they could not make a decision and told me that I would need to be called back once they consulted someone else. In the meantime, I had to sand in my shower to keep for urinating all over everywhere. I had four events where I had to push incredibly hard to discharge around the catheter. The resulting spray went everywhere. After waiting for some time, I had to go to Urgent care. Urolift continued, once at Urgent care they could see the issue and acted immediately to help me. During their treatment someone from Urology called back. They could see the issue right away. I should have been made aware that this could happen. As I did some research, I found that it is highly likely that a catheter will become block with clots. This was never mentioned on discharge. For recently released patients there should be a number that they can call when in trouble and speak to someone right away. Urolift continued, for recently released patients there should be a number that they can call when in trouble and speak to someone right away. I was in great distress and having to eventually solve my own problem I feel is untenable. Waiting some three hours while urinating all over my house because I had no control with the catheter in. Having to wait on the phone for 20 plus minutes to speak to anyone is ridiculous. I could not even come to the hospital as it is 40 minutes away. Urolift continued, I now have stains on my floors which I will have to have repaired because the dye in the medication permanently stains the everything it comes in contact with. I was never told that there was a possibility that I would have a catheter during the pre-operation exams. So, I now have a really good flow, but I have to evacuate every hour, or less. I would like to know how soon that will change. I had some clots discharge, which was never discussed. This affair was poorly handled.

Cons:
  • Way to big no patiant care just a production line

Preferred solution: They need address the issue of never being able to reach a medical professional when needed. Waiting hours when you have a urgent but non life threatening situation is ridiculous.

User's recommendation: You have to ask about everything they tell you nothing
