Attorney David J. Letvin investigated for criminal activity

Chicago attorney David J. Letvin of the law firm of Letvin and Stein has been investigated by the Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission for fraudulent conveyance, deceit, misrepresentation, filing an illegal bankruptcy petition, failing to represent his client's interests, conflict of interest, sleeping with a client's sibling in order to gain control of the client's money, moral turpitude, intimidation by filing false police reports, and numerous other violations of the statutes regarding attorney behavior. Even though the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission was unable, or unwilling to punish him for the above actions, I would still not recommend him.

I have had the opportunity to see Attorney David Stein help a family member of mine. His ethics and profound professionalism has helped sort out a legal mess that seemed impossible. I would highly recommend him and his firm.

This comment is very harmful and inaccurate.

The Illinois Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission (ARDC) http://www.iardc.org/ is a part of the Illinois Supreme Court which oversees the licensing and discipline of attorneys in Illinois.

It accepts and reviews all requests for an investigation it receives for Illinois attorneys, http://www.iardc.org/howtorequest.html and if the ARDC finds grounds for a violation of the ethical rules which govern attorneys, it will file formal proceedings to impose discipline. If the ARDC finds there is not sufficient basis for an investigation, the ARDC will notify the person making the request, and will not take any further action.http://www.iardc.org/htr_filingarequest.html.Final disciplinary action is public and listed withe the name of the attorney disciplined on the ARDC's website

David Letvin has been a licensed attorney in Illinois since October 1973, and no discipline has been imposed upon him by the ARDC or the Illinois Supreme Court, as the author of this comment doubtless knows. From this, one can only conclude that the ARDC found the request for review filed with it groundless, if in fact one was filed at all.

In addition, lawyers are rated by a commercial service Martindale-Hubbell ,http://www.martindale.com/Products_and_Services/Peer_Review_Ratings.aspx.

David Letvin has the highest rating for legal knowledge and experience, judgement, communication and analytical ability and a testament to his having reached the highest level of professional excellence AV® Preeminent™ 5.0 out of 5, http://www.martindale.com/Results.aspx?ft=1&frm=freesearch&afs=david%20Letvin.

From this ranking, you can see that David Letvin is held in the highest regard by other attorneys practicing in the areas of law that David Letvin practices.

David Letvin has the highest ethical standards and is client centered in his representation. I have known him and worked with him on a number of matters for over thirty years and recommend him highly to friends and colleagues in need of his services.

1. The ARDC is tasked as you state above, and it does accept and review complaints against attorneys.

However, if you review their cases, you will see that virtually the only cases they take action on have to do with conversion, eg, theft of client's funds from a settlement held in an attorney's trust fund. David Letvin didn't steal money from his trust fund; his plot was more clever and nefarious.

2. Peer review of lawyers by lawyers through Martindale-Hubbel is worthless.

David Letvin's exemplary review simply means that his attorney friends and associates have given him their thumbs-up; ignorant of how he 'represents' his clients' interests or his client's financial inability to sue him for his actions. The only valuable opinion of an attorney is by his clients.

Sorry, but if he actually did those things, he'd have received some type of reprimand or punishment. Attorneys get reprimanded and censured for less than what you're claiming. Also, ARDC investigations aren't criminal matters.

You have no idea what you're talking about. In many cases, the ARDC and FBI do not investigate or prosecute attorneys or judges unless the media forces them to do so.

When riots were taking place because CPD illegally shot someone, the DOJ said we were FORCED to become involved, or we wouldn't be here. Illinois is the judicial "hellhole" of the nation and the information I've been given shows that the corruption is driving citizens away at a rate of 2 every 5 minutes.
