Missed Broken Filling for Two Years

I had been a patient of Dr. Letizia for several years.

I kept complaining to him about getting food stuck between two teeth and he basically told me there was nothing to be done. Last January, I went in for my semi-annual exam and was informed that Dr. Letizia had retired. The new dentist, Dr.

Arden, found that a filling was broken where I was getting the food stuck. Unfortunately, after two years of this being missed, the tooth then needed a root canal and crown. While I don't have a problem with Dr. Arden, I do have a problem paying hundreds of dollars for two procedures that very well might have just been a filling had it been caught in time.

It seems to me that Dr. Letizia should have retired sooner, if he was unable to spot a broken filling that was there for two years.

Use another dentist

I have been going to this practice since I was a kid. My dentist retired and sold the practice which is now called Arden Dental. It has been one terrible experience after another with this company.

I was told that I had a cavity in my wisdom tooth and that it was a waste to fill it since it was a wisdom tooth and that I should just pull the tooth. I went to another dentist since this dentist would not pull this wisdom tooth only to find out that the cavity was in the tooth in front of the wisdom tooth and that it just needed to be filled, well this in turn cost me more money because I now had to pay for another dental exam and my insurance only covers 2 a year not 3.

I was over charged for services that they performed that my insurance states were not needed but once a year, but when I questioned these charges I was told that there was nothing that they could do and no refund would be given.

I was quoted one price for a service only to pay more in the end after the service. When I questioned this they told me a quote is a quote and the prices do change once the service is done. I told the girl that even my explanation of benefits had a different price on it then what I paid. Again no refund.

My husband had a tooth pulled at this company, and we have since left this dentist and switched to another, only to find out that the root from the tooth that was pulled is still in his gums and he now has to go to an oral surgery to surgically remove the root that was left behind.

If you want to over pay for services and have incomplete dental work done then this is the company for you!!!

A GREAT DENTIST!

I'm surprised to see a bad review about Dr. Letizia and his staff.

I guess you can't please everyone. I am very happy with Dr. Letizia, and always have been. I've been a patient here for many years and I have always had a pleasant experience.

I rarely have to wait in the waiting room and I am always greeted with a friendly smile. For years I was afraid to go to the dentist, until I found Dr. Letizia. He is always friendly and kind, and he puts me at ease.

I've had my teeth cleaned by all of the hygienists there and they are all great. The hygienists chairs even have massagers. The front desk staff are friendly and helpful. I will continue to be a patient here for many years to come.

Keep up the good work Letizia Dental! :-)

Unethical and poor business practices

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTAL PRACTICE!!!!

My family and I have been going to Letiza Dental for years. Since we usually only get our teeth cleaned we always overlooked how rude several of the employees that work there really are. I experienced the same type of service as mentioned from T.A. on 6/1/11. I was running late due to a car accident and I know they really hate it when your late so I took a proactive approach to let them know I'd be late. The person at the front desk (Peggy) said well we're really running out of time how much longer. I said, I'm not that far it depends on how long the road would be blocked. She went on to say I was suppose to be there 15 min. before my actual appointment. I didn't appreciate her tone so I said, If you want I can just cancel my appointment if it's a problem. I told her that I made this appointment 6 months ago, got reminder card, wrote it in my appointment book, got reminder postcard, put it on my fridge, got a reminder call as well as a reminder text message (overkill if you ask me) and that my appointment wasn't at 6:45pm but rather 7pm. When I arrived I was furious to find no receptionist ( I had a few choice words to share with her ) the hygienist took me in and I expressed that I think this will be my last appointment when she asked me to fill out my address on a reminder postcard and tried to schedule an appointment.

The straw that broke this camels back leading to my decision to long provide them with my business. I was in-between jobs and changed insurance providers. In the meanwhile my son and spouse both went to separate appointment. I completely forgot to provide them with the new information and when I received a letter from the insurance company asking for reimbursement for paying the bills in error when my coverage expired. I advised Letizia Dental by scanning and e-mail. I received no reply. A month later I see they reprocessed the claim under my new insurance company. About a month later I received a second collection letter. Again, I fax the 2nd letter as well as the explanation of benefits for the claims from the new insurance company. Again, no reply. My daughter had an appointment so I sent a copy of the paperwork with my daughter who handed it to the dentist. Still no reply. A couple of appointments later I realize I haven't received any explanation of benefits leading me to believe that they haven't been putting in any recent claims because I probably have a credit balance. I also realize I haven't received a statements. I called the office and spoke to the new office manager Michelle who proceeds to tell me that they have no intension of repaying that they are well within their legal rights. I expressed I felt it was unethical and that it was poor business practices. I also express that I would put in a complaint to the BBB. I feel that this is insurance fraud and is one of the reasons insurance rates keep escalating.
