They failed to id a creditor account as secured

I used Legal Helpers to file chapter 7 bankruptcy.Through out the process it was difficult to have someone answer my questions professionally. They would have me give second copies of creditor statements, because they misplaced them. I felt I wasn't been assisted the way I expected, I asked to speak to the attorney. But I was questioned and not allowed. It seems that they got their money, so he didn't have to talk to me anymore. Also, they failed to identify one of my credit card accounts as secured. I had to surrender some personal items. P.S. I am a disabled person .I expected them to be knowledgable of this .I though I was paying them for ther expertise.I do not recommend them.

Legal Helpers-Bankruptcy Nightmares

We hired Legal Helpers to do our bankruptcy and got an attorney named Mona G. We would get her all our paperwork and wouldn't hear from her for over a month and when we did our paperwork needed to be current and I would send it again and again and again....We did this for over 9 months! We even had to take the pre counseling class twice because Mona didn't do anything in a timely manner and the first one took expired after 6 months! We had to fight to get a waiver for the 2ND class as they wanted us to pay for it again! They kept telling me things were missing, not current blah blah blah! After complaining to Chicago, the manager of the Seattle office took over our case and guess what- we were in court with in 2 weeks! We were being sued by 3 of the creditors, threatened for wage garnishments and judgements on our records on top of the bankruptcy because Mona couldn't pull her head out of her #@$! THE WHOLE PROCESS WAS A NIGHTMARE! No one has ever heard of bankruptcy taking more than a year!! Legal helpers was great when we had the right attorney. Tread Carefully!!!

Having previously worked for LH in another state I can sympathize with your frustration. The problem is not the attorney working on your case but the system currently in place used to move cases along.

The "managing attorney" only took an interest in your particular case and filed it with the bankruptcy court immediately, because you complained to Chicago. Unfortunately, the squeaky wheel gets the grease and in your case it worked. "Mills" are not a bad thing when operated correctly. The efficiency can be used to lower costs and the savings passed on to the client.

The reality however is that mills tend to operate on a shoestring budget, only providing the bare minimum in resources which translates into your case being delayed for 9 months. I'm sorry you had to go through this experience.
