Resolved: Bogus Business
- Daphne Salone (aka Wells) was hired Feb 28, 2016 in Paonia.
- The fee was $2000 upfront.
- Work produced: late, uncategorized QuickBooks file; no meetings.
Simple Miscommunication.
It appears that Ms Salone's contract was with my lawyer, not with me. Ms Salone is back in touch with me.
The problem may have resulted from the three-way miscommunication. I believe this might still be worked out.
Last year my attorney in Paonia, Colorado, engaged a forensic accountant to detangle my financial affairs. The accountant's name is Daphne Salone, and her e-mails come back with a "law & equity, ltd" logo.
Daphne charged the law firm $2000 in advance, a bill which I had to cover, and did not do any forensic accounting at all.
She was engaged by the law office of David Merrick in Paonia on February 28th, 2016, and returned her work to me nearly four months later, past any date on which it would have been helpful to me.
"Her work" consisted of a simple Quickbooks file into which my bank statements had been fed. She had declined my offer of accompanying receipts, and had declined to meet with me, both before and after she had done her work. Daphne left her entries unclassed and uncategorized. I would have been better off purchasing Quickbooks and doing the work myself.
(The way "forensic accounting" had been explained to me is that by the end of the work, the reports would be considered as trusty evidence in a court of law.)
Daphne never met with me at all, and has been unresponsive to e-mail enquiries since shortly after submission of her (non-)work. I highly doubt she is a bona-fide accountant.
I need to find a way to complain about her.
Daphne Salone is also known as
Daphne A Wells, Daphne Arabella, Daphne A Salone, and Daphne Arabella Wells
