Nothing happened. I was never contacted by anyone with concern about my pet. This place has never been really good but since becoming a "Chain" They are horrible and careless.

I called because my pug is vomiting foamy mucus overnight and was told that they cannot see him because "we are full" find another place to begin with and save you animals life. This place is somehow even worse that it was before.

NO STARS. June 30th I woke up to my beautiful 5 years old unresponsive The moment I walked in the lady in the front called to the back for an emergency when a nasty looking lady with a big nose walked out with a mean face an took my baby and walked normal back to the ICU. A few minutes in I was asked to leave a $600 deposit which was fine I was worried about my girl being taken cared of so whatever needed to be done to ensure the process I asked them to keep working on her. So I realized I stepped out without my wallet and told the girl I will be back which then she asked me to sign a paper stating I will come back for her SMFH. I got in my car ready to drive off when the big nose ugly mean witch came to my window and said my dog flat lined would I want them to resuscitate her. I yelled of course and went back in, I told them I am no longer leaving since I need to be here for a decision like that. I was asked to go into a room further in the back cause I was crying hysterically. The doctor came into the room and told me that it looks like Snowy will have to be there for 4 days minimum with constant observation. She needed X-rays and blood work, a catheter the works. I told him I don't have my purse and I didn't want to leave my dog. He said I have to leave my dog and yelled at me to go home and get my money. I was irate and terribly saddened cause this was the turning point for me I realized exactly what place I'm working with. I went home and come back not even 10 minutes and was put back in that room and confronted by another girl talking to me about how much it will cost to START treating my dog I already been here an hour and these bastards haven't even treated my dog to find out what's going on with her yet. So this inexperienced girl is breaking down the price and tells me the cost will be between $3,111.58 to $5,317.45 for 2 days while the doctor crock just told me she will need to stay a minimum 4 days so we're talking about $6,222.16 to $10,634.90 for not even a week. The girl tells me that THEY CAN NOT START WORKING ON HER UNTIL I PUT THE VERY MINIMUM OF 3,111.58. The doctor came in again to talk about my dog and the first thing he asked me was if I was able to get the money. I said not yet but how is my dog doing and he explained it can go 50/50 that she will need to get blood work done and cannot do that until I get the money together I asked what is happening with her now and he said they got an IV in her and a warm blanket. When he stepped out I almost threw up I was so disgusted with this place and just wanted to take my dog and leave .Now, the crock doctor came running and told me that Snowy is actively passing and ran to the back with me. I am now standing in front of my beloved dog with my husband and kids watching my angel passing and the doctor crock asked if I wanted him to rev......and stopped asking SMFH. The entire time at this place all they did was put an IV in her and a warm blanket I could have did that myself at home in the comfort. SO we now transitioning very quickly from saving her to talking about afterlife which only cost me $140 dollars with a complimentary Urn. Thank you. But the cherry to top this terrible experience off is they charged me $717.00 for *** what $125 consultation fee $85.52 for IV bag $56.66 to set up her bag ETC...... The doctor never came back to me and my family to discuss what happened with her or to help us with our mourning. Even while I was grieving over my dog another *** came in asking me for money I finally got care credit and she said you have 6 months to pay this off. The ugly big nose *** was walking down the hallway listening showing her face one last time to me and stared me down as if I'm disgraceful for not having $3000 to $10,000 in my pocket. Stay away from this place they are completely unprofessional, mean and greedy. If you have the money they will treat you but if you don't then you are irrelevant and taking up room and time.

Doesn't sound like a place I would take my mutt to for veterinary care, but we wonder "what in the world does the abbreviation SMFH stand for?

I brought my dog in on a sunday evening after she had been in a fight with my other dog. They did a fine job of cleaning up a puncture wound on her face and then shaved around one of her upper legs to check for wounds.They told me she had very sensitive skin and it may be a little irritated. She cried through the night. they said only to put Gold Bond powder on it, nothing else. In the light of Monday morning I could see that the area was extremely inflamed and there were clipper marks in her skin. She had a temperature of 104 even though her face wound was doing fine. The clipper marks got *** before they started to heal after my vet put her on strong antibiotics. When I told them I wanted compensation (my bill was over $500 and another $200 at my vet) they offered me $30 off. I provided them with photos. I was told that if they did nip her with the clippers it was just because the person doing the clipping probably didn't have much experience. Well gee, I thought $500 would get me the EXPERIENCED vet tech. Never again will I step foot in this place. I have posted this review, along with photos of the wounds,on my facebook page to discourage others from using this office.

MONEY SUCKING VULTURES DISGUISED AS VETS

First, Dr Greenway tells me that my beloved cat has cancer while I'm driving, no warning, just "Ms. Procini, your cat has cancer". Almost crashed my car. THEN, Dr. Jennifer Bibevski does surgery and promptly goes on vacation, no warning, no other surgeon on call. THREE days after I hand over $6000 and all I can get on the phone is a receptionist. THEN, a vet in training gives my cat a dog dose of medication. THEN, since Trinity had a feeding tube in and it became clogged, they told me to flush with soda, when I asked if diet was ok, the veterinary nurse says yes. Diet soda contains Xylitol, which can be FATAL to dogs and cats. THEN, after Trinity has to be put to sleep, they send me another bill, it was unbelievable. THEN, I find out my dog rescue brought a puppy there that was born with birth defects. They wanted to put him through endless tests and procedures to make as much money as possible. THEN the puppy was brought to the specialists in Gainesville, where all 3 recommended euthanization. But not the LVS vets, they aren't happy until they've sucked every dollar out of even a rescue.

Great indifference/negligence

On 6/23/16 at 5:31 am our beloved dog Kilo passed due to a severe aspiration pneumonia, as a result of the great indifference/negligence of the doctors at and Lauderdale Veterinary Specialist (LVS). They operated him because of an "intestinal obstruction" - found nothing - then our dog got sedated because he was to stressed out after surgery - he vomited and they had to performed CPR - they immediately called us to tell us we had to take him home because it was too risky to have him there - that same day he Kilo passed as a result of megaesophagus with severe aspiration pneumonia which he had a change of getting after having Laryngeal tie back procedure a week before - LVS knew of this surgery and the risk and did not care for the well being of our dog. Even after we asked to make sure if no other test needed to be taken x-rays, etc...to make sure no liquid had gone to his lungs... Dr. Kristina Calicchino (VM11042) should not have released our Kilo without having performed additional exams to make sure his lungs were clear - giving his recent Laryngeal tie back procedure - the fact that Kilo vomited - Kilo was bound to have liquid go inside his lungs. We are so heartbroken and the fact that these doctors performed CPR on him and dismissed him from the hospital immediately - simply to freed themselves from any liability or responsibility - instead of taking responsibility and assessing the situation appropriately.

Poor Service Review

Agree with previous complaint and my girlfriend just had similiar experience with our beloved dog when I was out of town. Seems like he (they) are just trying to suck money from pockets and their communication was absolutely terrible.

I took my dog in for urgent neurological treatment to Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists and veterinarian neurologist James Cook. Despite sending the records ahead of time, he did not have them and could not, would not access them. He did no exam, took no blood and failed to correctly diagnose my pet which was promptly done in a single visit to a veterinarian neurologist who actually knew what she was doing. Promised he would set up an MRI and did not. Office staff failed in every way possible. No communication from him or his staff re MRI. Do not waste your time and money and your pet's health on Lauderdale Veterinary Specialists (www.lauderdalevets.com) and Fort Lauderdale veterinarian James Cook. These guys should be out of business. Worse, they delete all negative comments from their Facebook Page, so add fraud to the list.

Also, note that they rig their Facebook page to only show positive comments instead of addressing complaints, lie through their teeth in rebuttals that aren't even smart enough not to contradict their own docs. Be sure to read the complaints about horrible pet care on Yelp, Ripoffriport, ConsumerComplaints and all over. Dr cook and staff is amazing!!!!!!!! Our dogs are like our kids and we trusted our dog with Dr cook and be was top notch!
