Abject Failure

I hired and paid attorney Ryan Lane $5000 at our initial meeting. He was to represent me in a family court child contact dispute.

He waited so late (months) to petition the court for the appointment of a forensic evaluator to conduct an evaluation that one could not be done. Over the course of months I asked him several times by by email and in person to send me his current bill, he never did. The night BEFORE our trial was to begin he sent me a PDF that contained his bill. He wanted $4000 before the trial was to start and a post dated check for another $4000.

Most people don’t have to imagine the stress this causes the client. Due to his failure to to timely petition the court for a forensic expert I had to settle with my ex-wife instead of going to trial. AFTER we settled Mr. Lane informed me that “the judge may hit you with some fees”.

The judge hit me alright, with over $20,000 in fees for the opposing attorney and GAL. You would think an attorney would have discussed the possibility of his attorney paying fees if he settles BEFORE the day the trial was to begin. During his representation I was to go to “reunification” therapy with my daughter at a local therapist. The scheduling was to go through Mr.

Lane’s office.

He notified me one week that “something fell through the cracks” concerning his office telling me of the reunification sessions because I had missed two entire appointments. Run from this lying, abject failure or your children will pay the price.
