Concerns with Installation of sod

My wife and I had some work done by the Landscape Guys of Maryland approximately 6-7 weeks ago. The work involved filling in a 4'x4'x4' hole and covering it with sod, as well as place sod on large areas in our back yard and our side yard. We purchased the sod, which laid around for a few days. Our concern is that the areas for the sod were not properly prepared with enough top soil, or graded properly to allow any water to flow properly away from our house. I waited to enter this "review" in order to see if the sodded areas would grow well. They haven't.
