Wasted over 2 weeks with our car; Outright LIED about check engine light diagnosis

Land Rover Mt Kisco - Wasted over 2 weeks with our car; Outright LIED about check engine...

After waiting over a year with great expectations & optimism for the Grand Opening of Jaguar Land Rover in Mount Kisco, NY, that hope was completely shattered by our lengthy Ordeal with their "service" department.

We had recently purchased a gorgeous garage-kept 2004 X-Type with a mere 33,000 miles, as this was the previous owner's Summer car when he came up from Palm Springs, FL. for a few months to enjoy his home at the tip of Long Island.

This "RED CAT" is in excellent condition. Well maintained, however, the CHECK ENGINE light was illuminated. Being registered in FL made this a non-issue, as no inspection is required. Here in NYS we had no chance of evading that requirement.

That brings us to our ordeal with Jaguar Land Rover located at 299 Kisco Avenue, Mount Kisco, NY 10549. We brought our car in to be diagnosed (see attached) in January of 2022. The service manager was quite amicable & assured us of a diagnosis if we left our car with them for a week. After leaving our car with them for over 2 weeks without any contact from either Frank (the Manager) or a staff member, we called to speak with Frank.

There were several problems, Frank told us; They were understaffed, the diagnostic equipment was not applicable to our car which required more waiting. Having no choice, we continued to wait. Cutting to the point, when we finally were presented with a diagnosis, Frank informed us that a "Transmission Code" was the problem. This, of course, was The Worst News, as THAT would be very expensive to correct.

Frank offered neither to proceed nor any option other than to contact a Transmission Specialty Shop. We did so & were told that the repair was not worth doing due to the age of the car. Woe is us!

Odd thing being that the car performed exquisitely; The transmission showed no slippage when put to the test. The V6 honked when pedal to the medal & the transmission was always smooth.

So, a close friend who had worked in the car business suggested that we let him take our car to his New Jersey neighborhood Hispanic repair shop he has used for years with 100% satisfaction. Voila! 300 bucks later & replacing the front O2 sensor did the trick. Car passed NYS Inspection with flying colors & we now enjoy this classic car with ridiculously low mileage & a Mint Condition interior with perfect beige leather seats.

I spoke with a very expensive Classic car repair shop

in our area who charges twice what we paid in NJ. He was obviously well aware of the M.O. at Mount Kisco Jaguar; He very cynically stated, "They are NOT interested in repairing your 2004 Jag. All they want to do is sell & service their new cars."

FYI, We thought about going over & telling FRANK the Service Manager at Mt.

Kisco what a dishonest, unethical experience he performed as a Managerial CUSTOMER CARE Professional.

It was suggested that the possible gambit was to result in a trade-in for a couple of grand towards a brand new Jaguar from their showroom... PISSEDCONSUMER.COM was our chosen action, as many potential customers will see this review if they are smart enough to look for reviews & complaints. In closing; We were not charged for this outrageous insulting incident, albeit we lost considerable time & were stressed to the Max. So happy we found an Honest Shop in New Jersey.
