I bought a lot in the Harborside subdivision on Lake Keowee in Six Mile, SC. The sale procedure was unusual to say the least, but I got the lot I'd wanted. For the size lot I got, and the fact that it was outside the main subdivision, I thought the single building, tree cutting and use restrictions in the covenants were overly restrictive. But I agreed to them in the purchase. Every thing went smoothly, with no surprises. More a matter for the lots within the subdivision, but I am concerned about the company's schedule for finishing the road (bringing them up to the concrete curb level), installing the promised boat slips and continued erosion control. It is nearly a year after the sale, so this will have to be seen. Overall, no complaints, per se.

Did some extensive research

Did some extensive research online after receiving a sales brochure in the mail about an upcoming 1-day sale of lakefront property (7 acre lakefront properties @ $39,900). Seems that they are high pressure bait and switch con artists, according to some 100 or more complaints that I found on line. People complain about being held hostage in meetings or agents' vehicles on site and won't take no for an answer. Apparently, they ask for credit card numbers and try to get folks to let them transfer funds from 401K accounts. Many comparisons to used car salesmen and complaints that hired help at these "fire-sales" are not licensed real estate agents. Won't be going to that sale!

I have been to many events, 4 in total. 1 was with another company and the rest have been with Lakewood.

I was never held hostage and they DO NOT take credit cards, and you CAN NOT transfer funds from a 401k that you're contributing to. It wasn't until the 4th event that my wife and I found exactly what we had been looking for. Great deals are made to be had, and people should ask questions; we asked a lot and that helped guide us to our property. First hand experience is the best source of information as they've always had what they advertised among other properties.

Also, the person that sold us the property showed us his real estate license. I only asked because I had been told the same thing.

They have an event taking place Saturday May 18th 2019 "between Nashville & Memphis TN". "3 acre Dockable Lakefront Estate only $39,900" My guess is somewhere on Kentucky Lake. I won't be blessing the event with my patronage.

Lakewood Land Company scam!!!!!!! Deceitful

Updated by user Nov 14, 2012

Mr Rye and his company made goOd on my down payment by returning it to me. This company did the right thing in the eyes of this consumer and the public.

ALL MATTERS HAVE BEEN RESOLVED AND TAKEN CARE OF.

I WAS ABLE TO WALK AWAY FROM THIS LAND AND LEARNED THAT THE LAND...

Mr Scott Rye. JP Bryan, Stacey Orman. ALL liars that will steal your money if you even think about going to their land sale. I warn you. DO NOT even go to the event. Very deceitful BAIT and SWITCH sales tactics. They know what they are doing and they know that they are being investigated by the Federal Government on shady sales tactics and dishonest business trade. Do not waste your time in going to their events. You can get a much better deal through a realtor and take you time in finding an investment property or a place for yourself. They make you feel like you have to buy right then and there in order to get the deal that in reality SUCKS. They know it and that is why they try to pressure you into buying right there. They will not take NO for an answer.

Thanks I wsd tempted to do thr same but backed away when they wanted my credit card. Or open a new loan or something.

I bought a timeshare which ended up being bought by Diamond resorts. Don't buy that either cause after my spouse died they increase d the dues to numbers beyond my income. All the dues and a lot of interest now due. Unwilling to compromise but I haven't pursued it further because we are warned not to do this in first place.

Out fifteen thou.

Not counting dues. What a scam.

Lakewood Land Company LLC - Knoxville LIARS!!!!

Went to their event yesterday in North Georgia and should have listened to the blogs I read on here this past week. Fortunately I did NOT buy one of the trash lots of land and did not cave to their high pressure Bait and Switch tactics. This company undoubtedly needs to be investigated for fraud and sales deception. Very unexperienced sales staff and the land was not a good deal at all. I will do much better buying my land through a Realestate Agent that can take me Round and I can take my time. It is very true. If it sounds too good to be true it IS too good to be true!!!!

Lakewood land company LLC victim

Lakewood Land Company is a "Bait and Switch" scheme company. Totally False advertisement and extremely misleading. Rude and unprofessional individuals Nd will stop at nothing to take your money. There events are Hyped to make you fell like you are getting this great deal when in reality your getting ripped off to an unbelievable degree. I would NEVER waste my time again doing what I did. Save your time and your frustrations. My neighbor got roped in with a property they basically baited him on and then switched hiim up to a much higher priced property. Trust our words...Lakewood is a slime balls company like slimy used car salesmen.
