Lakemoor Dental $53,900 OSHA Safety Violation

I have worked as a hygienist at Lakemoor Dental for many years on their both locations in Lakemoor and Hainesville and have recently left this place and started working on a better dental office which cares about its staff and patients. The owner of this practice is a profit maximizing person whose only goal is to increase his profit. The new $53,900 OSHA Safety Violation penalty they received a few days ago is proof that this place is not a safe dental practice to go to. Here are a few links that covered Lakemoor Dental recent safety violation, please share this with your friends and family members if you care about them: https://www.osha.gov/pls/oshaweb/owadisp.show_document?p_table=NEWS_RELEASES&p_id=32760 http://www.dailyherald.com/article/2016****/news/16070****/ http://www.nwherald.com/2016/07/05/osha-cites-lakemoor-dental-with-employee-safety-violations/av7ezb1/

Traumatized child

I have been moving around to a variety of dentists in the area for the last few years based on our insurance. I was pleased with how thorough I felt the cleanings were. They were fairly quick, less talking the better. I was also pleased with the work that was done on myself. I do not take Novocaine and the dentist was pretty cooperative and very very little pain. What my low review is based on their experience or lack there of in dealing with children. My youngest, 7 years old, was in for a cleaning, cavities were found and a treatment plan was discussed. I was told along with my son listening, these fillings are surface only and will NOT be needing Novocaine. My son and I were very comfortable and excited to continue our treatment plan and get these taken care of. Next time I went in, I was told not to come into room that my son, would be fine and this would be a quick visit. Skeptical, but wanting my children to be independent, I let them take my child alone in the room. I then hear my son screaming, I got up and was assured, he is ok, I stood there and waited calming myself down. About 10 min later...my son comes out and tells me that he was lied to and they gave him the shot. HOW TRAUMATIZING! I am furious as how they handled this and will NOT refer anyone for pediatric dental work and will be sharing my experience. THEN...they called 1 week prior to MY cleaning, I cancelled and they never recorded it. I get a call the day prior to confirm appt and I said I cancelled it 1 week ago, THEN get a bill for $75 cancelled withing 48 hours! UGHHHH!! I am done with this office. Time to move on.

Reason of review
Poor customer service

Double standards

recieved a coupon from lakemoor dental for $59.00 you receive full exrays and a check-up. went in with my coupon and tried to make an appointment. was asked if i had insurance and responded with a yes. they informed me the coupon was for uninsured new patients only. i asked what it would cost me with my insurance and was told that they could not tell me due to the fact they werent sure how much my insurance would cover. had the service and was billed $108.90. thought that was alot, but they billed my insurance and got paid an additional $119.00. then i received a bill for the remaining balance of $135.10. not bad, if i had no insurance i would have been out the door for $59.00 but with insurance they got paid $363.00. wondering if its legal to treat people like this?

Excellent comment Sharon. We have never refused to treat a patient in need.

We do accept CARE CREDIT. On the business side, unfortunately we are a fee for service industry, just like your grocery store is a fee for product industry. If however,a patient does not get approved for Care Credit, there are roughly 20 low-fee for service dental clinics in Northern Illinois area. At patients request we will offer this information.

Thanks again Sharon for your input. We NEVER want to hear of anyone ever suffering from tooth pain.

See if you can apply for a Care Credit card. These are specifically for medical (and dental) and offer no finance charges for a certain amount of months. I keep one for emergencies such as yours.
