My child is dead so contact from them won’t resolve things , my point in posting this is so others will see what happened to us and know it’s not just them not getting proper care and assistance from LA Care.

Updated by user Nov 05, 2021

I'm the mother of an autistic woman who was harmed by what's mentioned in my review, she never would've been able to review them or speak for herself and I've since have found out she is not the only special needs person affected.

Original review Nov 05, 2021
They subcontract healthcare and do not pay real attention to the quality of care and then get to distance themselves from the poor care that they are well aware of because it's subcontracted, when the fact is they are well aware that the subcontractors are not doing their job, they seem to like seeing these contractors push the envelope. They used a company that in turn subcontracted for years with another company called Synermed who was verified by the Calif Dept of Managed Care to have been commiting fraud by narrrowing access to doctors and and falsifying documents by filing denial letter but never sending them to enrollees.

If you ever felt like someone in an office was or is purposely denying your rights you felt correctly. With the massive number of LA Care enrollees who likely complained for years it's impossible that LA Care didn't know what was going on. Now in 2021 enrollees continue to complain about poor access to doctors, delayed payment for services and quack doctors, but they keep adding more and more enrollees when the Dept of Managed Care has fined them for not servicing their existing ones! One thing the public can do is go to their public meetings, they can't stop you from doing so, meetings are listed on their website but they do a very poor job of posting the information, call them and ask if need be and demand info.

They have these meetings and claim everything is just fine when it is not!

They use resource centers to solicit more members offering yoga and other BS but if you really need them for an illness they will find any way they can to delay services, even if one of their advocates get involved , they just hold your hand while their subcontractors continue to deny your care. Contact Dept of Managed Care for Independent Medical Review, LA Care has already been fined by them and they are aware there is a problem!sA

Preferred solution: They need to actually provide services and quit hiding behind subcontractors who don't do their jobs and intimidate enrollees!

Dishonest Billing Practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

My bill is due on the 30th. There is a 10-day grace period.

However, if I pay after the due date, even if it's within the 10 days, the phone menu wants to charge me the following month's payment calling it the current amount due. Then you get a notice saying you haven't paid. It seems like a trifle to them because it all makes sense to them, but calling the current amount invoiced the current amount due is factually incorrect in the outside world where it matters. That's not being customer centered.

It's also manipulative.

They want people to pay ahead. I was told their system actually generates a message saying you haven't paid 4 days before the due date on the 26th.

Predatory billing practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

LA Care is probably the only company in 2019 that doesn't allow for monthly automated recurring credit card payments to pay down monthly premiums. Should you be unfortunate enough to have to pay for your insurance on a credit card, you can not automate it, and you have to play phone tag for an hour minimum before somebody will accept your payment.

An associate connected me to their "automatic bill payment hotline" which is an inaccurate title. Should be "Automatic hang up the call immediately hotline" because that's what happened. When i called back and insisted on speaking to a supervisor, i got a voice mail. I'd bet money i'll never hear back from supervisor "Enrique".

By denying probably half their clientele the ability to make recurring payments, they are setting members up for failure. How easy would it be to clear a few thousand bucks from some chump and then deny them coverage because they didn't have a day they can put aside to spend an hour or two playing phone tag with LA Care?

Predatory as all *** will be researching other options come next enrollment period. Unacceptable.

Type 1 son has not had critical medical equipment for 2 mont

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

L.a. care health plan did not pay the provider for my type 1 diabetics son's medical supplies from vendor, leaving us with no medical equipment for 2 months.

I call everyday and still they have not paid provider, as is their responsibility. It has been a urgent situation for 2 months now and no one will put a superviser in the phone, and even the 2 times they did, it was useless. I have spent hours everyday trying to resolve this as my son's condition is life threatening. No one has a clue to what's going on and despite us paying for premium plan, i was just told that they go with medi cal guidlines.

I'm so pissed.

No one has seemed to care that my son is the one who suffers most. Appalling!

WHAT A JOKE

These people are the most incompetent group of people I have ever spoken to. Not only can none of them ever give any answers but they have pretty much perfected the art of transferring people around to " Managers" and keeping you on hold for hours just so that NO ONE IN THAT OFFICE has to even do their job.

SERIOUSLY..IS NO ONE IN CHARGE OF THESE PEOPLE? Is there no one accountable for the complete lack of knowledge, ethics, and health care at this place? Customers have very serious medical issues and these people act like it's a joke.

So unprofessional and really a shame. The Board of Directors should be ashamed of themselves letting this place be so severely mismanaged.

LA has the worst operations.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This is a review from a Doctor's medical office. Calling provider reps never answer the phone always voice mail.

Leaving numerous voice mails none return. Calling claims department, phone rang for 20 minutes no answer. If you have problems need to be resolve, Good Luck!!! With all these thing with quality health care system that are require by the gov't, well LA Care is the worst I have seen for the past 15 years.

Some big cheese at LA Care needs to look into services that they are managing. If in the near future there are no improvements we are force channeling our patients to a different plans.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Check up this *** experience I had with LA care they know that I'm already a full grown adult and I'm not eligible to be seen in a pediatric facility anymore but even though now I'm 25 they never made action on replacing my old insurance to theirs so I was definitely unaware of that so when I had a surprise appointment at my Children's Hospital they said that my insurance declined the request for payment I mean are they just flat out *** *** they know now that I'm a fully grown adult so it's their job to officially release me from my previous med center they're inconsistent, rude, lazy *** that needs to sued big time they ain't worth it just think about you and your dad being called out by them and said the appointment was approved but clearly got denied when I got there total *** *** !

Worst health plan!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

top well paid, least worked... Nurses low wages, lots of overtime without pay. Undesirable ethics, morals and values. Crooked HR department. Poor, micro managed management who abuse, discriminate, micro manage and .....

They don't take well of members because they overload the nurses with to many members and thereby reducing patient time and instead keek changes work flows.

Medical management, CM is the worst department. Phillipinia manager from ***. Discrimination and cheap ... Verbally and emotionally draining ... Slave driver!

If you're not Phillip be careful she'll hire you but if you ask question or challenge her she'll get rid of you.

Done work there if you're a nurse!!!!

L A Care Health Plan Medicare Sales Scam

I was contacted by a LA Care sales rep. for Medicare and I was coerced into signing up with them for my health care Medicare needs even though what they promised to me, they did not deliver.........I believe it was untruthful sales techniques and practices used.

I disenrolled the following month. The sales reps need to go through some type of sales training to understand the needs and culture of seniors.....as an older person there are certain considerations that need to be undertood, such as my lack of understanding how Medicare Advantage through ansd HMO is different from my regular Medicare under CMS and expalin the advantages and disadvantages......this was not done I felt I was strongarmed by a LA Care sales rep to sign my assigmnent form to LA Care to become their memner I was treated like a number not a patient.

I can tell you that LA care provides poor reimbursement to doctors. This is one reason that you may feel they don't spend enough time with you.

There is no such thing as a free lunch. If your insurance company pays little, then you will get little care.

Oh, there may be a free lunch for the LA care CEO, who pocketed $730,000. That's $730,000 that wasn't spent on your care.
