Bad Business

One thing people should know about Kobyco is the owner will never take responsibility for anything that goes wrong. There’s always someone to pass blame to so his company goes unblemished. If a salesman over bids a quote by a few hundred dollars and this isn’t caught until after the contract is signed the owner pockets the money instead of returning the money to the customer. They sell windows with lifetime warranties and they are quality windows but they are constantly doing service calls on those windows so if you always want someone coming to fix windows that you spend a lot of money on then buy from here and make sure you have them go over the number several times before signing a contract.

Poor customer service after the sale

Kobyco does not take ownership on the "human things" that can go wrong with a door order and installation. We have waited for over 15 weeks and our installation still isn't complete. The owner stated to me that if I did't want to wait and not have anything go wrong then I shouldn't have ordered a custom door or shutters. What that tells me - is that I should not have ordered from Kobyco. The hardware was on back order - but we were not told this for 6 weeks, we changed the hardware and still had to wait 4 additional weeks. The paint finish rubbed off while cleaning the glass with Windex, the owner stated that I should not use strong solvents to clean with. (my fault). However they would replace the trim that became discolored. The installers brought the replacment trim to install, but it was the wrong size. The owner says, that the factory sent the wrong size and they (Kobyco) does not unpack the order to verity the contents. The installers doubled drilled *** in one of the shutters during installation. According to the owner, it wasn't the crew who dobled drilled *** the screw was defective and broke the drill bit and the broken drill bit puncture the hole - not the installation crew. Now I have to wait an additional 2-3 weeks for a replacement shutter and who knows how long for the replacement trim - and when I voiced my frustration with the "factory" calling me directly to confirm what trim parts need to be replaced - the owner stated that if these delays and human errors are so frustrating then I should reconsider ordering custom in the future. No, I will never order from Kobyco in the future. They cannot handle the human aspect of when custom orders are not perfect.

Kobyco is one of the best companies in Rockford for your Window and door needs. I bought over $17,000 worth of windows,doors and 4 season room for our house and have nothing but good things to say about Gary (the owner) and his install crews.

Maybe you should have gone elsewhere and next time order custom!! Things will go a lot smoother.
