Killingsworth Environmental What a scam!

I have a rental home that was built in 1935 on a crawl space foundation. My tenants contacted Killingsworth because they were convinced that the black spots on the hardwood floors were mold.

They are in fact pet stains from where the house once had carpet. I allowed him to do an inspection because I thought he would calm their fears. He did not even go in the house, but went into the crawl space for about 15 minutes. He came out and after about 20 minutes standing over in the corner of the yard walked up with a proposal to solve all of our problems for just over $4,000.

He wanted to install a vapor barrier, which was already in place. Then he wanted to install a dehumidifier after he did a $2000 mold remediation. I told him I would have to consider my options. Then I went home and looked over the paperwork.

He did not even mark mold as something that he found under the house, only "non-damaging mildew." When I called him back and asked about this, he just made some vague comments about additional testing. I had two other home inspectors come and look at my crawl space without telling them about him, and they both said I had no problems. I have checked the moisture content under the house several times and each time it was at or below average!

But because of him, my tenants are still convinced that the pet stains are some kind of deadly mold! He was just looking for a big paycheck!

Odd that there was no mention of a name in the initial post. By witchywaterwoman and then killings worth gave her name in their reply but then went on to say she w not in their database...bottom line..if you have a concern, hire and inspettor and let them know up front that you will not hire them for any repairs but will hire another company...you will get a more honest report...ask a painter looking for work if your house needs painting and you know the answer before you ask..

There is no reason to resolve the issue because I did not hire you to do the $4,000+ work you suggested after spending 15 minutes under the house. The initial contact with your company was made by my sister and co-owner of the house.

That is why you do not have my name in your database. You marked on the report NON-DAMAGING MILDEW, but did not mark MOLD, then went on to suggest mold remediation, vapor barrier (which was already in place), replacing vents, etc.

etc. etc.
