My Unfortunate Experience with Kevin Hromas & AAIMCO (American Association of Insurance Management Consultants) Date December 26, 2018 I unfortunately had to do this write up because the leadership at AAIMCO chose to do nothing when one of their members violated its own code of conduct. This individual remains on the Board of Directors, despite he has violated the organization's code of conduct. Actually nothing was done, hence one can conclude that their code of conduct is meaningingless and perhaps more of a marketing ploy to try to convince the outside world that they this organization has standards when they do not enforce them in anyway, that is at least is my experience. See below the email exchange that lead to Mr. Hromas rude, it was an email discussion about a certain issue within insurance and was being sent to the master email address which goes to all members. At one point, I was getting an email every 30 seconds, so I gave a friendly reply: ------------ “IS there anyway any of us can opt out of a given email, there are too many of replies on this same issue.” ----------- While this went to the 40 or so members, Kevin Hromas was the only one who replied to me and stated: ----------- Since you were dropping your membership in AAIMCO because you didn’t feel like you got anything out of your membership... even though you have never been to one of the conferences ... the bigger question is “why do you give a *** Tag the “Members” email address as spam and as of Jan 1, you’ll be off the ListServ. Kevin Hromas ----------- Obviously as you can see this is a very rude email. Furthermore, the proper way to remove an ex-member is to remove them from the list, he was rubbing it me by telling me to hit "spam." By the way, when someone hits "spam" it damages the sending score of that sender, so in essence he is telling me to damage the sending score of the AAIMCO organization. I replied back: ----------- “I got an nice email from Peter and was in the process of reconsidering, however your email was with the tone “why do you give a *** was beyond unprofessional and beyond repair. ----------- In my email explaining why I was leaving, kept it extremely professional and did not stoop down to this level. This is the first time I have seen any stoop this low in such as great organization and think you just damaged AAIMCO with such a response like this. Being into the holidays and trying to get things done for the week, I was getting an AAIMCO email every 30 seconds and it was eating up my time. This email eats up my time even more. Personally Kevin, I think you should turn in your resignation with such an email like this, I can’t imagine such conduct is acceptable in this fine organization.” Believe it or not, not one person or board member replied to this. I had to write a follow email asking them to address this. They did not want to address it in writing, so the President, Peter Marchel agreed to call me a few days later to discuss. Basically his phone call amounted to nothing, it was a waste of time and the only thing he was hoping for was that I renew my membership. He tried to tell me you give each guy a chance, if they blow a few times, then it can be addressed. But do they have a formal write up or count on how many times someone does this. As far as I know, none nor did Peter state there was any procedures. Also why did it take them so long to address it. Why is someone who responds so rudely still on the board? Hence it appears he was protect and the code of conduct is a fake front that does not appear to be enforced in anyway. I don't think Peter cared, furthermore someone who can not address an issue is a weak leader in my mind. If you want to do business with Kevin Hromas, it's very possible he will reply to you as he did with me since he has replied this way and it's likely that this is his personality. I don't know him very well, so if he replies to people like this that he doesn't know this well, he probably lacks respect to them. Did he apologize? No, no apology whatsoever and he had many chances to. Furthermore Peter Marchel told me he will not ask him to apologize. So this appears to be who Kevin Hromas and Peter Marchel are. It's obviously your choice if you want to do business with people like this. As for AAIMCO (American Association of Insurance Management Consultants), I have been in this organization for 8 years. At one point, I think they were a great organization and run by very dedicated people who want to to make it a great organization. However after 8 years, I felt the organization was in decline and I know other members who have left. The few that I talk to tell me they don't get much out of it, perhaps because there are just so many different consultants from every insurance segment and member are there to exchange ideas and get business. But I think the "get business" part of it doesn't work well for most, though it may work well for those who are expert witnesses. I really lost respect for the organization after this incident, though felt like it was in decline for some years. I am posting part of their code of conduct as of December 18, 2018: ----------- 1.05 A member shall treat each other member with the courtesy, consideration and respect which is due professional colleagues, and each member shall conduct himself/herself in the same manner by which he/she would like to be treated. It further states: 1.01 A member shall conduct himself/herself at all times as a professional and in a manner which will maintain the good reputation, integrity and good faith of the profession. A member shall exercise due care and shall sustain his/her professional competence by keeping informed of, and complying with developments in, professional standards. Professional excellence shall be the foundation and the constant focus upon which the member’s practice is based. ----------- Because of my experiences, I don't recommend doing business with Kevin Hromas or AAIMCO, I personally don't find their way they do business as ethical or honest. That is only my opinion, I would recommend you contact current (at random) and ex-members to round out my review of these two subjects. As for Kevin Hromas, Peter Marchel and the AAIMCO organization, if you won't want write ups like this, you need to properly address your issues. This is where you blew it. ID
