Keep billing us
- Deductible 379.10 billed after insurance removed responsibility.
- Payments delayed by Change Healthcare cyberattack; balance shows 379.10.
Hello. My husband Robert Harter had an US done on January 15, 2024.
His patient account # is H258********. At the time, our insurance had erroneously said we were responsible for the deductible of 379.10, which was appealed and removed as our responsibility. Kettering billed us for 379.10. During this time, GEHAs payment vendor, Change Healthcare, had a cyber attack.
Thus all payments stopped until they could safely do so. GEHA, stated all healthcare facilities were notified that payments were being delayed. This was also on the national news, so I am sure your billing dept was aware. However, I notified you myself, and basically got a rude response back from your billing agent, that we still owed a deductible, despite telling him that we did not.
The last straw was when I got a letter threatening collections. In May, I was on a three way call with GEHA and Kettering, in which GEHA explained that they had changed payment vendors, and the total due of 379.10 would arrive shortly. The billing agent stated she understood, and would take care of it. A week later, my husband received a message on his phone about his delinquent account again. When he called back, the agent said disregard.
I have received notice that payment was made by check to Kettering health for 379.10, and that we owe 0 balance on this account. However my husband did pay 20.00 on the bill, so this should be a credit to our account. Now June 4th, Roberts MY Chart is still showing a balance of 379.10, and threatening collections. I was advised not to pay any more money to Kettering on this account.
GEHA gave me a check number of 10713****. Please get this straightened out. My husband is a senior citizen and does not need this aggravation, when this situation was beyond our control. Your billing agents, need to follow through, when one calls to report a problem, please note the issue on their account.
When people contact billing to explain a situation, dont automatically assume they are trying to avoid paying their bills. We dont do that, and never will.
User's recommendation: Make sure you keep all correspondence, receipts. If you think your bill is wrong challenge it, don’t automatically accept it.

Verified Reviewer |Reschedule my appointment upon doctors request
- Appointment with doctor at Kettering Health Primary Group, Washington Village.
- Assistant refused to reschedule; hung up; manager cited busy policy.
I had an appointment with my primary doctor at Kettering Health Primary Group at Washington Village Dr. The doctor's assistant called me asking me to reschedule my appointment with my doctor, and she refused to reschedule my appointment at a time that suits me because I have other appointments.
She hung up the phone in my face. When I called her manager and told her that she had hung up the phone in my face, she replied that it is the policy of this place that when they are busy, their policy is to hang up the telephone on patients' faces. I don't know what kind of policy this is.
They were very rude to me, and I really got upset by this kind of treatment. I wish that the telephone calls were recorded; then they would behave much better with patients because they would know that there is a check and control.
Preferred solution: Apologize from the way they treated me and change the assistant of my doctor and change the policy of hang up the phone in patients face when they are busy, they should be more polite with patients.

Verified ReviewerResolved: Billing screw up
- Three accounts were sent to collections without notice after a payment plan.
- Kettering has taken no action; care may transfer to Premier Health.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I called the Patient Advocate. They recalled the bills from collections, gave me credit for what I paid the Debt Collector and put me on a payment plan.
I had all my bills consolidated and put on a payment plan. Three of them were not and sent to Collections.
No notice. No late notice. Nothing.
And Kettering won't do anything about it. Guess my care will have to be transferred to Premier Health.
- Great clinicians and service
- Billing dept stinks
Preferred solution: My bills out of Collections and on my payment plan.
User's recommendation: Watch you bills!!
