Golden retriever

I had a registered golden retriever that I bought when he was 9 months old less than a year ago. In June I had him out to waggin wheel vet in the village for his rabies shot & heart worm screening...he was healthy, July he was healthy, up until the end of august he was healthy...then I started seeing yellow matting in his eyes plus he just wasn't as active as he normally was. So i took him to Kelly's as it was closer. She said that he had rocky mountain tick fever, gave him meds, sent him home. Within a week he wasn't eating I called them and told them and was told by assistant that was normal with what he had. Then I called again a few days later spoke with male assistant & told him same thing he told me to come pick up some appetite pills for him that was on Friday late afternoon & I said I would pick up on Saturday. He said he'd leave them at front desk. I didn't make it in Saturday as I was moving. The following Monday I took him back in as he was down to bones. They did a complete blood work up & came back to say he now was anemic & has whip worms gave him more antibiotics plus iron, worm meds plus the appetite pill. At this point he was down to 52lbs. They weren't to concerned about his weight . I called them a few day later still concerned about Rangers weight loss & not eating was told by the assistant that this is common with this illness & that some dogs make it & some don't. Early this morning he could barely lift his head I contacted waggin wheel & told them what was going on so they requested Rangers work up & would have vet to look at it. In the mean time my sweet dog died. This afternoon I received a call from waggin wheel saying vet said yes he had tick fever but believed it was a fungus causing my dog to lose weight as fast as he did that he could of got from eating rocks or something that caused a fungus & that an xray could help determine that & to bring him in. I had to tell them at that point our dog had died. I called Kelly's & was told by receptionist she was sorry but as I told her that doesn't bring back Ranger. She said she would tell Kelly. I haven't received a call or anything. I am now going to have other vets look at the results & go from there. I have a 15 year old granddaughter completely distraught over her dogs death, we all are. He died in pain, he had been in pain for over 2 weeks. I will be having this checked into. UPDATE... Kelly called me & wants to put blame back on me because she isnt a thorough vet. There was more going on with Ranger she missed. My dog would be alive today if I had taken him on out to waggin wheel where I know he would of got the best care. My thinking was she was closer & the matting of his eyes was something simple to diagnose. I will take blame for not taking him to a better vet to start with.
