Excellent skills.

I have been seeing Kathie for ten years. She is by far the best practionor that I have ever had.

And belive me, I have had several. I have always found her to be congenial and very observant. Since her primary goal is to despense psychiatric medication, suhe spends a lot of time observing each individual to see how the meds are working. She has extensive experience working in the VA and prison where you can find individuals with extreme psychiatric needs.

She has done a great job collaborating with me and making sure that I am taking as few meds as possible. She has always gone out of the way to make sure I am able to afford my medicine. As for the office staff, sometimes I have to remind myself that she is not a trained office manager. As for insurance co pays Kathie is supposed to be paid as a specialist.

Amy was unaware of this for a while. Bottom line, I would send my own kids to see Kathie.

Also, drug seekers need not apply. She is very conservative about prescribed medicine s.

Kathie L Bankson NP - Psychiatry Doctor Review

Updated by user Mar 04, 2017

Kathy is experienced, stays up on recent medication developments and thoroughly explains medications, side effects, etc. Also Kathie provides counseling she is very good. It is unusual to find a Psych NP who does both so that is an added benefit.

Original review Mar 03, 2017

Kathie is a well qualified Nurse Practitioner who keeps up on research regarding new evidence based medications for clients. I have never had a problem with Amy-Kathie has a lot of integrity and truly listens to patient concerns unlike many other doctors I have encountered.

Strange place

My husband and I both went there in fall of 2016. First, office is dark, dirty and no working bathroom.

Receptionist is not there all the time and people just wander in and sit down......No sign in sheet, nothing. She didn't seem to remember from one time to the next why we were there. We went about 6 times. The last time we had an appointment, the door was locked.

We waited in our car for about 30 minutes. I had tried to call. As I was writing a note to put on the door and leave, she pulled up. Said she had a long weekend and was tired - she then proceeded to fall asleep while my husband was talking.

That was our last visit. PS - on my husbands first visit, she told him she works full time with prisoners and that is why she is not available except nights and one day a week.

BAD EXPERIENCE

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The service is the worst I have ever seen!! DO NOT USE this office as they are outdated with no email or way to contact Kathie.

I have tried to get refills for medication and they would not even talk to me unless I came in even if my child was out of medication. They are trying to charge me for a no show when I left a message and when I tried to explain it to Amy in the front office she hung up on me. I have had multiple issues with Amy who is related to Kathie so if you try and talk to Kathie about it nothing gets done.

She is very RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL. I will not use Kathie again and highly recommend you chose another provider.

Frightening experience

Saw her a few times, and at two different appointments, she took phone calls in the middle of the session. The last time, it was as we were discussing a deep depression I was in, and thoughts I was having about how everyone would be better off if I were gone.

Luckily, I had friends that were giving me plenty of support, and helped me to find someone else to help me, but it made me feel very insignificant to say the least to be putting that out there, and for her to ask me to hold on while she took a personal call, and listen to her discuss dinner plans for several minutes.

It was like her saying, yes, dinner is more important to me than your suicidal thoughts. How she is even allowed to practice is beyond me.

Horrible provider!

My husband was seeing this Nurse Practitioner for a while. Here's the 411: RUDE receptionist named AMY.

Shady practices, such as a co-pay of $40 when everywhere else is $25. In this modern day of technology and convenience, they ONLY accept CASH. And you better have it, or else they will direct you to the nearest ATM. Make sure you mark your calendar for each appointment they schedule for you, because "you will not always get a reminder call".

That is a direct quote from her rude, unpleasant, and cold receptionist. When asked why, I was told, "Because things come up." If you do miss the appointment, they tack on a $95 missed appt fee, which MUST be paid before they will give you a new appt. They could care less if you are running low on meds, they will ignore pharmacy requests! The NP has a pager number on her card, but pages will go unanswered.

Old and dank office with shoddy decor. Go elsewhere.

Agree! My daughter was seeing her and they Nickle and dime you for *** appoinents.

Would only give two months worth of meds so they can charge you for another appointment. For Med refills you have to see her...I asked if my daughter needed to be there for those appointments. She looked at me like I was crazy and said of course. She never said one word to my daughter.

Shady practice. In for the money for sure.

Omg that practice is scary!! The receptionist is her daughter just as whacky if not more!!

They may even give you a appointment card then accuse you lieing and say you did not have a appointment . "Where did you get this card" seriously never saw such a dark side of a practice. She will close her eyes during your appointment as well. Don't bother to even give this place a try..

And as this person said she will not return a call from anyone.. Very Very strange
