Disappointing birthday dinner
- - Eight of us sat outside without a reservation and ordered appetizers, wine, mains and dessert; staff asked us to move to the bar and we left by 9:30pm.
My family took me to Kaluz Restaurant Ft Lauderdale, for my 75th birthday on Saturday, August 16, 2025. I requested to be seated outside because it was a beautiful afternoon and it also did not require a reservation.
The group consisted of 8 of us and we ordered appetizers, drinks including a bottle of wine, the main course and desert. I know you are aware that the final bill was a lot.
The service was good until someone (a male, which I presume he might have been a manager) came by to find out if we were good and if I were enjoying my birthday. This was before we had desert. Soon after desert he came back and suggested we sit at the bar because he needed the table.
We arrived at Kaluz approximately 7:00pm and they seated us by 7:30pm, and then kicked us out by 9:30pm.
My family and extended family eat out a lot and this is the first time we were practically escorted out of any restaurant. We felt like we were chased out.
We visited Fogo De Chao restaurant last weekend and the service and staff were excellent. We were there for three and a half hours and no one approached us telling us that they needed the table (of 15) although there were several customers waiting to be seated.
I am not one to complain but this episode put a damper on my otherwise enjoyable birthday celebration.

Birthday Dinner disaster

The service was good until someone (a male, whom I presume might have been a manager) came by to find out if we were good and if I was enjoying my birthday. This was before we had dessert.
Soon after dessert, he came back and suggested we sit at the bar because he needed the table. We arrived at Kaluz approximately 7:00 pm and they seated us by 7:30 pm, and then kicked us out by 9:30 pm.
