Jonnys Towing and Recovery

I just had a “light duty” tow for a van from Lombard to Villa Park. The tow was 3.9 miles.

I WAS CHARGED $390!!!!!! I have never paid this much for a tow in my entire life! I called to inquire why the tow was so high for traveling less than 4 miles away. I was told that the tow truck is clocked from the time it leaves the shop until it returns.

This particular tow truck they sent was coming from Crest Hill which is 35 minutes away! So rather than explaining to me that there are no trucks in my area and I might be better off using another company, they just charged me for their travel time! When I called to dispute the charge, the man that answered was extremely rude and hung up on me!!!! DO NOT EVER USE JONNY’S TOWING!

If you do, make sure you ask WHERE you truck is traveling from because you are responsible for paying no matter how far away their truck is! Absolutely ridiculous scam and horrible service!

Jonny's towing was contracted to transport multiple pieces of equipment from a jobsite in Illinois to a new location in Arkansas. The experience with this company was TERRIBLE, DISHONEST, and IMMORAL.

Little to no communication, LIED about locations of units being transported as well as the manner in which they were being transported. Delivered days late, sub contracted the loads to other carriers without approval or our knowledge.

REFUSED to release the equipment when requested to do so by multiple contacts. **LOCAL AND STATE POLICE BECAME INVOLVED.** This company's practices are UNETHICAL to say the least!!

These people suck! Never ever contact them, they hang up on you, very rude ***

They charged me 23 extra miles, then I called them to find out why, they hung up on me. I'm going to contact channel 7 news and report them and tell my story, I know Roz Vernon and she will help me, I will tell her to read the reviews on Jonnys Towing, there's alot of un-happy people out there.

I'm also contacting the BBB

and report them.

This is no way to run a business or to treat people.

Horrible company. Did not disclose rate before hooking up.

After telling us cost ($195 hookup plus $5/mile!!) my husband wanted them to unhook and they refused and held vehicle hostage.

Unsavory owner & company. They did reduce down to $155..still an outrageous amount, but we had no choice, vehicle was held hostage.

I was charged $195 for a flat tire change, nothing complicated. I had the spare tire handy.

I had only driven approximately 100 feet after the flat occurred, then was able to pull over, so the tire/rim were not damaged (other than the puncture in the flat tire). It only took the driver approximately ten minutes total time. I feel this was an exorbitant fee for such a simple job.

I was in Naperville at the time, Jonny's advertised an address in Naperville, so I felt it was a local service. I feel this company engages in price gouging because they know that once the service is provided, the customer is stuck with it.

BEWARE! THIS COMPANY WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU!

My husband went out in a storm to get me dinner because I was sick and got stuck. I looked them up on the internet and their add promised a "20 minute" response time so I called them. All of the other adds listed prices between $50.00 and $65.00 for towing out of snow. When I asked if they had trucks available for our location, I was told they did and that someone would be right out.

ONE HOUR and THIRTY MINUTES LATER - after numerous calls, the driver finally arrived. Despite the fact that their website says that they take credit cards, the driver insisted that he would only take cash and proceeded to follow my husband to an ATM. In addition, he never quoted my husband a price prior to pulling the car out of the snow. After it was out, the driver told him it would be $175.00!

But after he followed my husband to the ATM, he told my husband he had made a "mistake" and that the charge would be $220.00! When I called the owner, he said our choice was to pay what he demanded or he would call the police and claim "theft of services". Lucky we are lawyers! We paid him more than was fair, but certainly not what was demanded and I will make it my mission to warn the public that this tow truck company is a SCAM artist!!!

Do not use them!

Stay away! Horrible service and extremely unprofessional taking advantage of people in distress!
