John King Book Experience Worse Than A Bad Horror Novel

Now listen my children and you will hear, a horror story that seems unreal.

In Oct of 2012 I ordered a book from John Kings bookstore for $2500 plus shipping. The book was signed by Harry Truman to my Grandfather. The book was to remain a part of my father's estate, but was sold at auction by my father's eighth wife.

I was ecstatic to find the book and was more than happy to pay Kings price to bring it home, and I paid King with my Visa card. At the time of sale they told me shipping would be $4.00 which was crazy to me. I told them I would pay the extra shipping for them to ship the book with insurance and signature required.

My request was ignored, and the nightmare begins......

No book after a few weeks, shipped delivery confirm which did show delivery in my town, but delivery confirm does get misdirected, as other mail does at times.

Why anyone would ship a book of that value so irresponsibly is beyond me!

To make matters worse it has fallen on my shoulders to try to find the book. John King communicated with me a few times and expected updates. I filed a police report with the Garland Police Dept, spoke with Tom at the local branch of my Post Office and contacted neighbors and folks for whom I have received misdirected mail for such as Nadine who lives at 4822 Rollingwood while I live at 4822 Orchard Ridge. Tom who works for John King indicated that they had contacted my local post office. My local post office denies any contact was ever made by John King Books. When I asked King Books who they spoke to they did not respond.

I contacted my credit card company and filed a dispute. After several weeks the dispute was ruled in my favor because Chase disputes advised that King Books did not use care in shipping the book. They also advised that King Books did not submit proof of delivery, meaning that the book was signed for.

My name is now on King Books home page as a scammer. While they made a couple of minor revisions they never did include any mention of my efforts to find the book. There message to others is clearly meant to harm my reputation on the Internet and professionally.  You can read their scammer listings at http://rarebooklink.com

I have given Mr. Kings company two opportunities to fix their statement on their website and they have not done so.

I was visited by two Garland Police detectives this past week and gave them all the info I could. I even gave them access to a dumpster outside my house being used for clean up and renovations.

It has been brought to my attention that I have allegedly scammed others, I would love to see the proof that they claim they have. I think this wild goose chase is a horrible waste of our police departments time.

I would approach this company with caution. And if you do business with them use a credit card incase you, too have a problem. Much easier to dispute a credit card charge.
