Poor client relations, abrasive style, dishonesty

I am associated with a local non-profit organization in Lincoln, Nebraska. This organization provided John Fulwider with a contract to provide some consultation and services for an important project. Based on our experiences with John, I would strongly recommend that you avoid John Fulwider or at least make efforts to get informed opinions about his work style. Without going too much into detail, John developed a very poor relationship with a client that mattered, which reflected very poorly on our organization. What’s more, these issues did not seem to be based on professional differences, but on personal dynamics that made certain people very uncomfortable with John and his personality style. Instead of attempting to resolve these issues in a professional matter, John attempted to hide them, which only contributed to making the situation worse. This was extremely damaging to our organization (unbeknownst to John), particularly since Lincoln, NE is a small community and relationships are important. It is understandable that everyone makes missteps and no one can be expected to have a 100% batting average in client or customer relations, but John’s behavior was extremely poor and reflected conscious decisions on his part to basically make the matter worse. What’s more, upon asking around a bit about John after this incident, we have since learned that John has a somewhat negative reputation with former colleagues and associates of his. I cannot speak on those matters, but based on our experiences with him, they make a lot of sense.

John Fulwider Consulting refused service due to my religion.

John Fulwider is not a consultant I'd recommend for anyone valuing inclusion and fair treatment. After I respectfully asked John to facilitate a leadership seminar for my church's board of trustees, John refused service--but only after subjecting me to a one-hour diatribe regarding my faith and its principles. Moreover, he did this without any forewarning to either me or my church's governance. John is most assuredly entitled to his opinion and to his business decisions, but the manner in which he communicated with me was very inappropriate, offensive, and violating. Had he merely declined business via a polite email to me, I'd have graciously accepted. Instead, he intentionally rebuked my faith and informed me how awful he perceived my religion to be. I am still in complete shock regarding his treatment of me. Once more, I advise anyone to avoid business with John Fulwider Consulting. If you value equality and professionalism, steer clear of this consultant.
