Don't buy from Joann's - ever!

I have just consumed an hour of life attempting to make some sense out of the duplicitous advertising and coupon specials of this business. It is New Year's Day as I write this, and their online advertising is pushing their "clearance sale". I had a purchase total of about $50, but when I asked for my $5 rebate (for a purchase total over $35), I was told that I was not entitled to this rebate because I had purchased items on "clearance", and not "on sale". Huh? The manager told me that this detail was embedded somewhere (not on the signs) and I that I should have known. I will NEVER go back to this local store (7 Corners in Falls Church, VA), and even though I will miss the convenience, I will not support this misleading practice and abuse of loyal customers - at this Joann's or ANY Joann's.

This is typical of Joann. They push unethical practices toward bait-and-switch.

The best idea is to walk away without buying the items when the price is not as-was-indicated (in their favor). The difficulty finding things because of lack of floor-walkers adds time to the shopping experience, along with waiting to have fabric cut, and then waiting to check-out. They know customers often have a lot of time invested in the items in their carts at purchase time. It is often easier just to buy things at the higher-than-marked prices, or without an expected rebate, than to walk away ...but walk away.

Do not feed Joann’s monster practices. Someone told me they got revenge for the waste of their time and the bait-and-switch by walking out leaving a big pile of cut fabric on the check-out counter when the discount was not as promised.

Another person told me after they experienced the bait and switch, they came back the next day, had several yards of fabric cut, and left it in their cart. I am not supporting vengeful behavior, but Joann needs to look at its ethics.

I never heard anything from Joann Fabrics. They don’t seem to care if they have unhappy customers.

I still firmly believe they have the worst customer service ever.

Their idea of helping is to say I am sorry. Don’t waste your time trying to complain.

I placed an online order for pickup in the store and received the email saying they received the order. A day later I called to see when it would be ready and was told part of it was out of stock. I asked if I could just get two extra of the one in stock and was told yes. After calling for the third time I was told they didn’t have the two extra ones. I received an email saying part of my order had been canceled which led me to believe the rest of my order was ok but I was wrong. They just didn’t bother telling me. I called corporate to register a complaint and the woman I talked to just said she was sorry. She made no offer to remedy the problem other then to say she would call the store to see if they had any in stock. I repeatedly told her they stated they were none in stock so once again her help was to say she was sorry. Joann Fabrics customer care really does not care so don’t bother complaining.

Gotcha Sucker is Joann's Store Motto

When I have to shop at Joann, I only go with a coupon. I only purchase with a coupon and I only get last minute items.

Every other time I shop at Joann, I end up kicked in the teeth at checkout. This time is no different. Joann Huntington Beach, CA is a scary clown of a store.

I chose my fabric based on full price (no sale sign) so I can use the coupon to get a more fair price (the big gimmick is that there is no way to get anywhere near a fair price unless you have a coupon). Then I get to check out and the employee says: "oh yea, this is on sale." At that point, I look at the worker and reply: "this is the worst store in the world.

You are saying I don't get the price I planned on because I can't use the coupon. This store is horrible and I hate this store." My horrified teen daughter turns to me and says: "it's not her fault mom" and she follows me out of the store as I curse the store and ignore the employee.

I hate Joann. Every other time I shop here I am kicked in the teeth at check out.

The signs do not always accurately reflect pricing and the whole organization of the business is to rip off shoppers at every opportunity. "Gotcha Sucker" is the Joann motto.

I think that the corporation uses those coupons to draw you in, then they put almost everything at a promotional price so that the coupon is useless. You can not always tell by the ad as to whether or not the item is on promotion before you make a trip to the store with your coupon.

Before a piece is cut, I always ask the clerk to affirm that it is NOT on promotion before it is cut. I predict that Joanns is circling the drain and will be gone from the retail landscape in due time. Or, they will become basically a crafty store with no real fabric. They are really pathetic and almost useless.

I have almost just quit sewing altogether. There is nothing of any value in the store to sew with.

Ordered fabric online which was in stock. Get an e-mail saying part of the order was canceled. But waited to the shipping date because they hadn't refunded the money. After I e-mailed them they sent back a new stock number and said it would be sent for the same price. So I call the phone number I got and guess what they won't refund the money or send the new stock number. They want me to call the bank and tell them Joann doesn't get all the money.

If you want to cancel an order with Joann.com, good luck. It’s very hard to get in touch with them either by Email or even worse by phone.

I ordered the wrong item, tried to cancel it, and I’m having a very difficult time doing that. The customer service number they list is not a working number. Good luck getting them to answer your Emails also.

I ordered yarn online. It showed online that they were all in stock. They took the money out of my account but then canceled two of the skeins. The total is still for the full amount taken out. I am not a happy camper right now. I will shop at Michaels from now on.

I tried for 3 days to call an order in, by the time someone knew what they were doing the item was out of stock and discounted. If they did it properly I would have gotten my order, so I cancelled it all. They lost almost $100.00 on my order. Will not use them again. Only excuse was they were so busy.

How Did Lauren Get A Management Position?

It sure isn’t because of her warmth and sparkly personality. I shop here a lot, 4-5 times per week. They’re the only fabric store with a large selection of apparel fabrics. I usually have a pleasant experience. Last week, on two separate occasions, I purchased 2 yards each of two different pieces. There was a very young girl at the cutting counter, and normally wait there but I needed a couple of things and came back as she was folding the last piece. A day or so later, I am about to start cutting my pattern and I realized that it was cut incorrectly. Not selvage to selvage, but the width was cut in half and my yardage was measured lengthwise. So I had 29” wide and 2 yards long. I couldn’t cut my pattern and the print was wrong. I thought it was only on one print. I took it back and explained, the associate at the cutting counter was baffled but immediately cut me a new piece and I went on my merry way. Today, two days after that, I realized the other piece was the same. I was frustrated, but since they had handled it so well two days ago, I assumed today would be no different. At the counter, I meet Lauren. I explained and gave her what I thought was the receipt but it wasn’t, it was from the other incorrect piece. I did not have that receipt with me; however, the fabric has “Designed Exclusively for JoAnn” printed on the edge and was obviously cut wrong as who cuts the width in half?! Lauren said there’s nothing she can do without the receipt. I reiterated that the fabric was indeed from there. She rudely tells me she can’t help me. I ask for her manager because now I’m mad. This happened twice. Lucky for me, Lauren says she’s the manager. I told her I can’t believe that she is so unwilling to help. Her reply, “I can’t believe you’re arguing with me.” After telling her that I would be speaking to her supervisor, she says, “Good. Do it.” I offered a helpful tip that as a manager, she should ensure that her employees are properly trained for their job and know how to cut fabric. She raises her hands and says, “Wasn’t me!” I walk away and she’s talking about me to other customers and her co-worker. She loudly, so I can hear, says, “I TRIED to help you!” Did you? Because I just had to spend more money on the correct cut because of your employee’s error. The associate who assisted me two days ago was helpful, polite, and did what she could to make it right. Lauren the Incompetent Manager could learn a thing or two. Whether she was right about the receipt issue or not, the way she handled this was completely ill-mannered and not appropriate managerial behavior.

Policy is policy in many stores and they are enforced much higher up. You were told twice that there wasnt anything that could be done without a receipt.

You got mad because it was your fault you didnt have the right receipt? So how is that her fault? Unfortunate you didnt have the correct receipt for the exchange but you said you are at the store several times a week.

Why didnt you just buy another piece of fabric that was cut correctly and then the next time you are in the store, return the fabric with the correct receipt? Problem solved.

I STILL DID NOT GET TO USE THE REWARDS ON PRODUCTS I WANTED. HAD TO PAY REGULAR PRICE FOR A PIECE OF REMENANT THAT WAS 50% AND ANOTHER 25% ON TOP OF THAT. I WILL BE LOOKING FOR ANOTHER FABRIC STORE THAT TREATS THEIR CUSTOMERS RIGHT!

Repeatedly tried number after number and none of them worked. The last number listed as a customer service number sent me to India to the credit card and gift card center. They could not help me nor transfer me to someone who could.

Was recently at this store 3 days ago. Found the store to look like a garbage dump. Floors dirty looks like it hadn't been cleaned in very time, these tall massive racks which handicap people like me can't navigate. Very unorganized. Staff uneducated, very poor customer service at cutting table when its not busy. Some staff not properly dressed for work.
