  • Gap insurance leaves me owing the lease balance.
  • Insurer advised filing a complaint with NJ Dept of Banking and Insurance.

I have the same problem as described in the other reviews. With the gap insurance I now owe money instead of being reimbursed for the outstanding balance on my lease.

And I had to jump through hoops to even get a response.

My auto insurance company suggested I file a complaint with:

  • Moran purchased Toyota, Honda, and Ford dealerships.
  • Contracts are signed on a glass table with unreadable terms and 30 pages of addons.

Moran purchased toyota, honda, and ford dealerships in Lake City, fl. They have you sign what they call a contract through a glass table.

Cannot read through the glass, no explanation, no terms or conditions, hand you a memory stick to see what you purchase. 30 pages of addons and nonsense.

They eat up your "$6800 trade in." Complained to everyone who would listen, including HG Toyota. Not their problem.

They have you sign a "contract" through a glass table which you cannot read. No explanation of the contract which has no terms, face

Pay back or add -ons. Had to wait for the creditors stmt to know what i owed $5000 OF COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY warranties toyoya already cover and they won't pay out on. They gave me a memory stick to download & read the "contract"

And Toyota endorses this corrupt behavior.

I have purchased toyota for 30 years, never again

Legal theft or outright fraud?

  • USAA valued totaled car $4,724 under payoff; JM&A redefined Car Replacement Assistance as Actual Cash Value and used it to claim a negative gap.

Car was totaled, USAA valued the car with tax title and tag fees at $4724 less than the payoff. Typical of a car about 2 years into the loan and the reason one purchases gap protection.

Was never late with a payment. Every document required was delivered immediately when it became available. Nothing was missing.

I had also purchased a Car Replacement Assistance policy through my insurer. State law requires that all monies from the insurance company be sent to the primary lienholder where they will be disbursed back to me.

JM&A, through a vague definition that becomes dependent on another definition, redefined my Car Replacement Assistance as Actual Cash Value. They then used the inflated ACV in their formula to claim there is actually a negative gap and they have no liability.

My Car Replacement Assistance was only $3500 +/- so I'm still looking at $1400 due to pay off the vehicle. How is a debt of $1400 calculated as a negative gap? How can they justify redefining my car replacement assistance as actual cash value?

I will fight. I will not quit.

JM&A is sold at Port Richey Ford and Mitsubishi. (FL)

  • I paid upfront for Gap protection.
  • After a total loss, the insurer paid toward my loan, not the full amount.
  • Gap won't cover the difference.

I paid, UP FRONT, for this "Gap protection" when I purchased my car 3 years ago. My car was just totaled a month ago because someone tee-boned me and my car was unrepairable.

My insurance company paid towards my loan what they valued the car at. This company, who's sole purpose is to cover the difference between a person's loan and what the insurance company pays when someone's car gets totaled (no fault of mine) is refusing to do their job. They are stating that the difference between what my insurance is valuing my car and what they are valuing my car is too great and since I haven't paid off most of my car they will not pay it. Why did I pay for your insurance again?

UP FRONT might I add!!! I was not making payments on their contract. They take peoples' money and then pocket it for themselves! Even the lady on the phone, Mac, couldn't really explain the purpose of getting their insurance as she knows it is a scam!

DO NOT GET GAP PROTECTION FROM THIS COMPANY!!! IT IS A SCAM!!!!

Keep Claiming They Are Missing Required Documents

AI Highlights
  • Spent 3 months trying to close a $1500 totaled-car claim and making double payments.
  • Documents sent multiple times; items still marked missing.

Oh my god...I have been dealing with this company for months trying to close out a $1500 claim for my totaled car. I have sent the required documents multiple times, through multiple methods, have had my insurance company send the items, the dealership...all to no avail.

I send the information, call to confirm it is what they are needing, then I get a letter 2 weeks later that they are still missing the same *** I have sent 4 times. I am not kidding, I have been going around with them for 3 months with this. I can't seem to get them to move to pay off the rest of the loan, so I have been making double car payments for 3 months. This company is so awful that I am about ready to file a complaint with the BBB and the Insurance Board.

I have never seen such horrible service in my life. If they are this bad about a $1500 claim, I would HATE to see what they are like with a larger claim.

If they ever pay anything off on the claim, I will be greatly surprised. Never have I been so frustrated in my life.

  • Car totaled; Geico paid about $16,800 of about $20,300 owed.
  • Balance left is $1,544; deductible $150.
  • Gap coverage says it covers difference; denied.

I purchased a 2012 totoya camry on July 2014. On March 1 2015, my hubby got in car accident and the car was totaled.

The insurance paid very quickly. I owed about $20300. Geico paid a little over $16800. After thr set v uce warranty cancelled.

I was left with a balance of $1544. My deductible was only $150. Today, I call gap. I was told they are not honoring my claim because Geico didn't pay enough money for the car.

That's bull. Now I am ledt with $1544 to pay out of pocket.

When, I got the contract, it said they wOuld cover the gap between what the insurance will pay and what is owed on the car. They are a complete rip off.

  • They won't reimburse unused GAP.

  • I paid off 36-month loan in 3 months.
  • The title was delayed; DMV weeks.

Won't reimburse me for UNUSED GAP insurance and lied about when I would get my car title back!! I paid off a 36 month loan on my car in 3 months.

33 months of UNUSED Gap insurance. They will not reimburse and their response is "Oh Well". I also paid off the loan with a cashiers' chect because they said that I would get my car title back in less than one month. At ONE month they just sent it to the DMV and said that it will take another THREE weeks.

Meanwhile, I lose out on the sale of my car for a Great price. LIARS!!!!!!!!!

JM&A Group refuses to pay out on GAP insurance

AI Highlights
  • Totaled my 2013 Cruze; gap was $2,500 after payout; waiver needed paperwork.
  • They paid $640 of the gap; I paid $960, net $320; dealer hard to reach.

I totaled my 2013 Cruze in November and after the insurance paid out I was left with a gap of $2500...no problem as I have GAP insurance. I was told that to file for the waiver I would need all this ridiculous paperwork (more than even my insurer needed) and within two weeks.

Somehow I got it all, and that was with a dealer that was impossible to reach (that's a different story). A month later and I'm told they don't pay sales tax in the gap and they'll only cover $640.

I paid 960 for the gap insurance so I'm out $320 for this less than worthless insurance, as it actually cost me money to have. Avoid this company like the plague.

JM&A Group GAP Insurance Rip Off

AI Highlights
  • GAP paid only 90% of NADA, not full loss.
  • Paid $600, got $0 from JM&A Group, leaving about $4200 out.
  • Not worth GAP and hoping for a refund.
Updated by user May 29, 2012

GAP insurance is a RIP off. We never got any money from the GAP insurance company. I would have been better off to have saved the money in case of an accident.

Original review Apr 26, 2012

My less than 1 yr old truck was in a total loss accident. We thought it was okay since I had bought GAP insurance.

We got a letter about 3 weeks later from them saying that they only pay 90% of NADA and do NOT cover the entire loss....WHAT is GAP supposed to be for then???? I looked them up on their own website and they explain that the reason you buy GAP is to cover your losses if you are upside down and have negative equity! What a RIP OFF! I'm out $600 for the GAP insurance and getting $0 from JM&A Group (Fidelity)!

Leaving me with about $4200 out of pocket.....Having GAP has not been worth anything to me, it only costed me $600 for nothing. If I hadn't already bought another vehicle and got GAP (by another company, THANK Goodness), I wouldn't buy it ever again.

I'm hoping I can get a refund on it now, if that's the real deal here!!!

Got in an accident months ago, totaled a one year old car we still owed 20 grand on. Insurance (regular insurance) covered 12 grand.

GAP promised to cover the other eight. Well, here we are, almost FOUR car payments into this mess, and GAP still hasn't paid. That's over FIVE HUNDRED bucks a month we're still paying on the TOTALED car, while also paying on the new car. GAP keeps telling us we're short this document, or that document isn't legible.

Whatever damnable excuse they can use. This time? They sent a letter with an EMPTY LIST of problem documents, telling us to fix them. That's right--a list of ZERO problem docs, but telling us they can't pay until we fix the problems with these non-existent documents.

They're trying to drag it out, wear us down, until we give up. But we're getting nailed over five hundred a month, and so far we're down over 1500 dollars waiting for them to honor the contract.

We had great success with the Better Business Bureau with our cable provider. I wonder how they'll do with GAP?

We are very sorry to hear you were not pleased with your Fidelity Warranty Services claims experience. We would very much like to investigate the situation. Please send your claim number and contact information to jmainfo@***.com, so we can address your concern in a timely manner.

I'm in the same boat you are in...except for me they say they won't cover a gap of around $2000 because they don't pay sales tax on the vehicle!!!!? I can't wait until they're part of a class action lawsuit.

I'm trying to understand your complaint, because they paid my sales tax after i sent them a letter stating that my insurance company was not going to pay it.

Guest

I too was told by JM&A that they will not cover my vehicle due to they do not pay if the insurer pays less than 90 % of NADA. I am now left with a $4,000 balance due to JM&A refusing to pay. This company should be banned from doing business.

JM&A has redefined my Car Replacement Assistance payment as Actual Cash Value, then used their NADA based value to mitigate liability on the remaining balance. A gap of $47264 earned me a letter from JM&A stating there is no gap so there will be no settlement.I will be filing a complaint with the Florida Office of Financial Regulation and the dept.

of Agriculture's consumer services if they don't reconsider soon.

I'll also be taking either them or the dealer to small claims court. If us Fidelity Warranty Services Cus is still monitoring this site, I won't rest until your product is no longer used by this dealership if I need to build a mobile billboard and drive around the block. *** I'll find every dealership in my area using your crap product and protest them too.

sounds like somebody did not read their contract. Good luck on your lawsuit I don't predict you winning a lawsuit because you didn't read the terms and conditions to a contract you signed

Guest
reply icon Replying to comment of Guest-756580

Well maybe your insurance company should of paid the full value of your vehicle and there would not be an 90% of NADA value on your claim that was not covered
