  • - Billed over $400 and faced late payments due to my pay schedule and my husband's SSD.
  • - I was told a different amount, paid it, then got a shut-off notice while my husband was in hospital.

I was just served the same sentence - as a JCP&L hostage I had to dish out over 400 dollars. My payments may be late due to my pay schedule and my husband's SSD, but it has never NOT been paid.

I called in the beginning of the month and was told a different amount than what the entire bill was and paid it then was sent a shut off notice because they informed me of the wrong amount. I am extra sensitive as I have been doing this while my husband was in the hospital and recovering.

Talk about add insult to injury. I guess that is why people are switching to Solar all over my neighborhood.

AI Highlights
  • - The customer has been with JCP&L for 26 years at the same address.
  • - A $306 security deposit is due; online payment rejected; consider a 12-month plan.

I have been a customer of JCP&L for 26 years at the same address. Suddenly, a $306.00 security deposit is due for late payments.

So, I continue to pay my consumption charge timely and disregard the security deposit. I attempt an online payment, but not accepted as it is below their disconnection requirement. Customer service informs me that, as a JCP&L hostage, any payments I've sent have been contributing to the "security deposit first", with subsequent amounts credited to my actual energy usage. So now I actually owe more than $600 with the two combined.

If you find yourself in this situation, here's a suggestion: request a 12 month payment plan. They will label it as consumption payments, but in actuality, it is the equivalent of their security deposit broken into tiny little payments :) Ha Ha
