Dr. JBs hummingbird feeders grow mold

I bought this because the ad said it was the best feeder ever because it was so easy to clean. Bragged that it can go in the dishwasher. Right-- it can go in the diswasher but it will come out just as full of crud as it went in. It's the WORST feeder I've ever seen--it has all sorts of crevices where mold grows and the crevices are so small you can't get into them to clean it. I soaked mine in bleach for 4 days (great for birds to drink from something soaked in bleach....) and there is still black crud in there that I can't get out. I e-mailed the doctor with my complaint and got no reply.

Dr JB's feeders are intelligently designed, much better than the garbage big box store models and they completely clean up without the need of a dishwasher. In my experience, angry consumers usually have no knowledge of how to correctly feed hummingbird, how to maintain or clean the feeders and many don't even realize that they have to frequently change the nectar.

The above complaint is sheer lunacy.

Utter nonsense. Been using DrJbs feeders for years, never had a mold or any other issue.

Once a month we remove the petals and soak in bleach solution for 30 mins and the rest we wash by hand as it's so easy. She is obviously either a spy from a competitor, or just a plain *** nutcase

I have several feeders that have a one piece base that I cannot clean as good as it needs to be, so I bought 2 Dr JB's and I am so happy with them that I will buy more! With the 2 piece base I can clean every part!

All my other feeder are being eliminated! Thank You!

Maybe the person complaining about the feeder not coming clean isn't taking the base apart. Or maybe she needs or new dishwasher.

We LOVE these feeders! They solved all the problems we ever had with the other feeders on the market. We are so glad we found them and will never use anything else again!!

Best Hummingbird feeder made. The complaint is completely off base.

The feeder does not grow mold. Heat, humidity and neglect grow mold.

Try changing the sugar much more frequently. My dishwasher gets my feeders completely clean inside and out.

This is the first time I have heard it reported that any customer had a difficult time cleaning one of our feeders. They certainly don't grow mold, and in our experience, they're less inclined to collect it because of the high-polish surface.

It's more common for our customers to say that they don't need to be dishwashed because any nectar residue will wipe off very easily with soap and water. (There are no crevices or small spaces that you can't easily reach with a paper towel or sponge.) However, what is more difficult to understand is the claim of non-response, as I answer every e-mail myself. If I had received the e-mail, I would have tried to help, but if a customer is determined to be angry, I will often just offer a refund.

Give our product a try, and be your own judge. Thank you!

This feeder is one of the best out there for ease of cleaning. It has other flaws that make it less than optimum.

If you need to clean the feeder, get some uncooked rice and a bit of water and vigorously shake them around - you'll get rid of all the mold.

But in any event, if you have so much mold that your dishwasher can't clean it, you're not paying enough attention - change the nectar much more often and clean it EVERY TIME.
