Got a quote in April and he pushed for us to pay over 50% of our quote to get supplies and secure a job date for concrete. Only did 10% of the work.

Excuses after excuses. Took off with over $6000 of our money.

Only paid $1100 back to date, still waiting for the rest. Just keeps giving excuses.

I cant believe after so many bad reviews and people being taken advantage of, that he is not arrested and in Jail.

So pathetic...

Without a doubt the shiftiest *** I've ever dealt with. Do NOT use him.

I engaged Jayson Bongart from J & A Fencing to construct my front fence. He is from Ballan but advertises in my local newspaper in Newport.

A quote was provided on 6 March 2014 of which we accepted.

Jayson wanted half of the money up front as a deposit so he could order the material, so I paid him $850 cash on 24 March 2014.

He never turned up to do the work and after chasing him up for weeks on end I told him that I wanted my deposit back because he had taken so long and I had now engaged someone else to do the work.

Jason kept saying he would drop off the deposit refund but this never eventuated. After calling him numerous times he eventually paid $300. He gave excuse after excuse and said he'd pay $50 per week etc etc which has never been paid back.

I'm out of pocket $550 in total. I've given up.

I have his home address and have threatened to pay him a visit to try and re-coup my money but he STILL hasn't paid!

He tries to justify his reason for not doing the job through his problems. 2 weeks ago he told me that he had work and waiting for his money and when he gets the money he will call me.

Don't believe him he does not call you so it's off to the Magistrate court on the 15th Jan 15 to see his financial situation to repay. He also mentioned that he does not want to pay it off at $20 per week, but what else can he do?

He stole our money and does not want to give it back. I am in no illusion that he will be doing the fence.

Paid Jason $1100 to order the material for our fence in January 2014, but after at least 20 excuses did not deliver. We still ring him but he never commits to any repayments.

I have taken him to VCAT who made an order for him to pay but he ignores it. I am at the Magistrate court now but I wonder what impact this will have. All I can do is to get the sheriff to take his possessions to the value but it's a long way off. Do not give him money even if he says he has to order the material.

Abysmal workmanship, made an uneven, wobbly fence which will have to be ripped up as it is unstable, and then tried to blame the owner for leaning on it!

Materials used were all substandard/warped - looked like reject timber. The fence posts were not at all secure in the ground, the fence leaned at many different angles, there was sawdust throughout the paint, many palings were split, there was a 10cm difference between the placement of one gatepost and the other, the catch on the gate did not close. I could go on.

Do not EVER hire Jason Bongart, he is dishonest and couldn't build a fence to save his life.

We received the quotes for fencing 11/12/13. We paid Jason $1100 on the 29/1/14.

He said he needs 2 weeks for the materials and we organised that someone would be home on 3 occasions but he never showed. I sent him a letter of complaint. I asked consumer affairs to step in, to no avail. We are going to VCAT 55 King street Melbourne for a hearing at 2.15pm Friday 26/9/14.

He is such a liar, with his many excuses and contradictions.

He still advertised his business and he was seen doing a job at another place. I cannot warn people strongly enough to steer away from this person.

I also cannot understand why police are not prepared to act on a person who takes money under false pretences.

I paid J&A fencing and Gates $1000 deposit in December 2012 for a new fence, after many contacts since placement of order from me and false promises from Jason I still have no fence. I waited 12 months and I then went and lodged a complaint to consumer affairs who sent me to vcat instead, after the hearing I was sent to magistrates court, the next step is the sheriff for recovery of money.

All this extra work has cost me more dollars in pursuing this matter.

I feel I have lost my money I am so angry. Does anyone have any further suggestions ?

Contracted Jason from J & A Fencing to pull down and replace a fence back in May 2014. Promised it could be done in about 3 weeks.

Its now September and the fence is only 3/4 finished and Jason nowhere to be found. It started off with excuses about a broken down car, feeling ill, etc. now he doesn't return calls and have even stopped answering the home phone.

Clearly this guy is a shonk with no morals whatsoever - the type that belongs on A Current Affair. Pissed at myself for not checking up on him before getting him to do the job - had I seen these reviews on how much of a crook he is, I would have run a mile the other way.

The worst person I have every had to deal with. Avoids calls has taken deposit up front and won't return calls or text.

Enough is enough!!! Stay away from these crooks.

We were told we would get our fence done within 4 days. He has done around 5 hours of work on this, with not much to show for it.

He asked to be paid up front and has been by all of us. The neighbor has started doing the work himself as he is so irate the work has not been completed. Not good when you are paying someone for a service! Don't understand how someone can own a business and treat people like this- how can he justify taking advantage of people?

Do not use this company!

When on the 2 occasions he did turn up he said he was going to be there at 9am, at 10am I rang him to find out were he is. First time he arrived at 10:30 does 2 hours work "pulls one small fence down then goes home" I call him to find out what's going on tomorrow he says he will be working to completion and will be there at 9am turns up at 1pm pulls another small fence down and goes home.

Next day he doesn't turn up at all, I now have two neighbours fences down.

I will not be held to ransom by this low life. After many let downs I sacked him and asked for my money back.

Stay away from these cowboys. It took them two weeks to finish a simple fence. Job should have been done in two days. They over promise and under deliver. Not only was their work well below standard, they couldn't even get the fence construction right. The supporting beams were placed too low. Thats what happens when you send a unsupervised 'bored' teenager to finish the job. When the job was delayed Jason (owner) didn't ring to communicate or update us. He disappeared for days on end. Just don't know how this mob are still in business! He even demanded to be paid before the job was done so we had no recourse for poor workmanship. Trust me - I regret using them. Don't fall for the line "we've been in business more than 30 yrs". Its a ploy to convince you to hire them. Call another fencing company cause this one shouldn't be in business.
