Island Dinette

I have received another check through the Sheriff's Dept. They were going to his employer to subpoena his records because he is def.

not sending me the required 10% of his paycheck.

Is anyone else getting anywhere with this ***? Even his co-workers don't like him.

How did he find a woman to put up with his ways? She must know what he has been doing but maybe she doesn't care because she lives in a nice big house.

I just received my 1st check from this guy. I went to the Sheriff's Dept w/paperwork for Income Execution and my judgment against him.

They served him and Andre voluntarily sent in 2 checks so far. I received 1 & as soon as the other clears through the Sheriff I will be getting another. The Sheriff"s Dept takes 5% but that get add to the amount Andre owes me. So, I get the money he STOLE from me, interest and the Sheriff get 5%.

Let's see how long this lasts. The Sheriff is asking him for a copy of his paychecks because I'm supposed to get 10% of his checks.

Just found out that Andre works at Ashley Furniture in Patchogue. I went down there to see if it was true and I saw him there.

Erik (manager) did not seem interested when I told him a store employee ripped people off of alot of money. I did not say a name but he knew who I was talking about and a min after we stopped talking he was talking w/ Andre--so he must know about him. Erik claims to only been working there for 2 months but when I asked him if a particular table was in that spot a few months ago he said it was always there. Anyway,after being on my cell phone (not quietly) Erik nicely told me that if I wasn't buying anything he would ask me to leave.

I told him I did not have 2 buy anything-I was allowed 2 walk around & look. He then told me he would help me & put me on a time limit. Anyway after another 15 mins of q&a's my son started bleeding from a cut & I had 2 leave.

I will be calling Consumer Affairs, the D.A., News 12 and anyone else I can think of. I will also find out what my rights r in regards 2 putting signs up or talking 2 customers.

UPDATE:

I went to small claims court and immediately won a judgment against Andre for the amount I gave him plus interesting starting from the date I gave him $$. Next week I have to get in touch with the Sheriff"s Dept for the next step.

Today was the hearing at Consumer's Affairs.

Their were 4 of us present and we gave our testimony on our cases. The other people there were not aware that Andre can still be taken to small claims court. They were encouraged to go. CA will have an answer of wether or not they will be charging him with things and all of the proceedings are public accessible.

As soon as I am made aware that they made a decision I will post it.

There are 43 complaints against him and over $40,000 that he has "stolen". I will get in touch with the D.A's office to make sure he his brought up on criminal charges.

I too got taken from them Island Dinette.

When I first met Andre and Kathy in Dec. 2007, they seemed eager for our business. Time flew by and I went back in FEB. 2008 and left a $1500 cash deposit for a custom dinette set. They set was going to take 12 weeks, so by the time I called, they were gone. Needless to say, my money is gone too. I did contact the manufacturer in Canada, but they were unwilling to help. I contacted the landlords of both Farmingdale and Patchogue stores. Farmingdale said he was owed money too, and that Island dinette was only on a month to month lease there. The Patchogue landlord said they they were owed about $50,000.

It was *** to leave a cash deposit but I have done that before with other merchants and never had a problem. But from now on... ONLY credit cards. That way I would have gotten my money back.

I will also contact Consumer Affairs.

I too, have had problems with them. I ordered a section from their Farmingale, Island Wicker, store in August.

It took 4 months to be delivered, and they forgot to order the ottoman. Story after story (they ran out of fabric, the base was on back order, etc) and numerous "it will be in next week", I too contacted consumer affairs. Not only am I out $, but I have an incomplete set.

I did receive a letter stating that a hearing was to be held this week, but, according to Tanya's post it has been delayed. Thank you for the updates...

Anyone who ha been scammed by Andre please call Danielle Grucci at 631-853-**** with Consumer's Affairs. There will be an hearing in which Andre &/or his lawyer will be there--it will be held in the beginning of July.

It was supposed to be today but at the last min it was rescheduled. I will keep everyone informed of the date as soon as I know. I did win a judgment last week against Andre.

There was another person in another courtroom on the date but did not come upon her. If anyone else has sued Andre please let everyone know on this site.

Island Dinette is officially closed. My husband saw the sheriff's dept remove the furnishings from the Patchogue store Thursday May 29th and on May 30th it was on News 12.

Mr D's self Storage trucks came byto pick up the furnishings because soooo many people stopped to try to get something for being dupped from Andre and Kathy. The sheriff's Dept said they have been doing this since 1990.

I want to know who paid Mr D's to pick up the furnishings. Are they going to be auctioned off?

it is very upsetting to read these things. I was never ripped off by Andre, in fact very much the opposite.

You people do not have all the facts, you clearly have no idea how much it costs to run a business, to have employees, taxes, legal fees, etc. You talk about the big house but I doubt you know whether or not it's mortgaged to the hilt or whether they can even afford to feed their family. I am sorry for anyone who lost money, but I am sure in terms of only money, Andre has lost a million times more than any of you. Aside from money, he has lost his business, his dream.

I have been through something similar and you cannot imagine what it feels like to want to stand up, be honorable and do the right thing for everyone, but not be able to financially support that. Andre is not a bad person, he is a good person who had bad things happen to him.

We too were ripped off by Andre Edwards of Island Dinette. He took $1500 cash down payment and that was the last we saw of him.

I would appreciate the name in the Consumers Affair dept you wrote about. I sent a certified letter to them a couple of weeks ago and have not heard anything yet.

Ay help to get this lowlife in trouble would be greatly appreciated. I was even thinking of contacting the TV stations like Shame on You, or 7 on your side.

I have been waiting since Feb. 21st for a kitchen set.

Today found out that all the stores are CLOSED?? Kathy in Patchogue took $965 from me in Feb. Promised every month- it was coming, it was coming!!

I can't believe this can happen here on L.I. in 2008.

We have a small claims court against Andre & Island Dinette and I also have already contacted News 12 and Channel 7. Anyone who has been deceived by Island Dinette PLEASE get in touch with the media--the more complaints the better. I will be contacting the D.A and other news media.

I was surprised to hear Andre lives in E Patchogue so he is living in the same neighborhood where he is committing his frauds against his neighbors---he's a sad excuse for a human being.

He has done this before with Kathy and he hasn't had a license to sell furniture since June 2007--that is why I want the D.A involved.

I will do anything it takes to get my $1000 back, and to let people know about the kind of neighbors they have. Kathy really did a number on us.

After numerous phone calls to Andre(who is the president of the company) and numerous excuses from him we never received our orders of 2 kitchen sets--1 was in and going to be delivered and the pther was in a crate on a ship. It wasn't his fault he kept saying.

Come to find out the IRS shut him down and all furnishings have been removed from the warehouse. Patchogue still has merchandise but that no use to anyone when no one is there anymore. Found out Andre has done this before and Kathy is in kahoots with him. He is a SCAM ARTIST.

I will not let this go. I have found out that Andre lives in E Patchogue if anyone wants to look him up and knock on his door. I will be making updates on the sites everytime I talk to AG,BBB extra.

By the way--anyone who wants to take Andre to court you have to mention that he does not have a license to sell furniture--lost it last year. The more people that make complaints the more likely he will be facing charges--it's a felony.

Andre Edwards is now working for Tiffany Furniture on Rte 110 in Farmingdale. He swears he is not Andre, but merely a former employee who was ripped off by Andre also ...

BUT don't believe him ... he is Andre the Crook without a doubt!!!

What did you mean by "they are good people in a rough business"? Did you not hear the news reports on them?

Have you not read the complaints about them? Have you not heard about the 10,000's of $$ they scammed out of people? Andre knew he was in trouble--he didn't pay his business rent, he owes the IRS $$,he couldn't delivery furniture that he already received $$ for, and he still took $$ from orders up until a day or 2 before he was evicted from the Sheriff's Dept. He couldn't even show up or have his lawyer show up on the court hearings against him.

I was fortunately able to win my case against Andre and have a judgment against him. And since he makes sure his property only under his wif'e's name so he claims he has nothing to offer so he can settle the many problems. But he does feel comfortably in his "wife's: gorgeous house.He still hasn't gotten on here to explain himself. He is a LOSER and would NEVER let myself to order from him at Ashley's Furniture in Patchogue.

I guess he likes to stay close to the people he screwed out of alot of money.

When my dad passed in Dec 07 we wanted new furniture to start fresh when we moved into his house.

We ordered a kitchen set and diningroom. That would have been a good start me & my kids

Can't imagine not being able to tell oak from other woods, should be simple enough to take a chair to a lumber yard and ask. While it is unfortunate for chairs to break on a new set, wood does "check", depending on how dry (aged) the wood is prior to it's manufacture the less checking you might find. Shame to hear about Island Dinettes' problems, they are good people in a rough business.

Island Dinette is a company that is controlled by Andre S Edwards. He always made it seem like he was just a salesperson when we spoke with him but even his manager Kathy Strom admitted he was the president.

They have done this before. A couple of people are contacting News12,channel 7,etc--so the more people that contac them the better.

Andre hasn't had a license to sell furniture since June 2007. He really should be brought up on charges.

This man, Andre Edwards is still selling furniture at the Ashley Furniture store in Patchogue on Sunrise Highway just a short distance from his Island Dinette store. How did you go about geting him to pay with interest ?

We are out $1500 that we put down in cash on 11/2/07 yes that's right 2007. Did you call the Sherriffs dept? I don't want to call 911 but I want to get the law involved.

I already contacted better business bureau & Consumers Affairs. Any help would be appreciated...
