Island Dinette
Andre Edwards of Island Dinette stole $1500 cash from us
We ordered a dining room set on 11/02/07 and gave Island Dinette $1500 cash down payment. They said it would take 8-10 weeks, after which I called to follow-up.
I called January, February, set not in yet. I went in person March, April they said wrong set came in they sent back. I contacted BBB who said to contact the Consumer Affairs. I sent a certified letter to them 2-3 weeks ago and have not heard anything yet.
This guy took our money and then closed up shop.
I want him behind bars for being the crook he is. If it takes being on every news station in the tri-state area to do it. I will until we get our money back with interest and then some and that *** is rotting in jail!!!!!!
Island Dinette (Andre Edwards) LIARS and cheats
We moved into our new house in Sept 2007 and ordered a kitchen set & dining room that we liked at Island Dinette in Patchogue on Feb 10,2008. We lived in Patchogue for 8 years and always passed by so we figured the store was ligit---BOY were we wrong. Andre and the manager Kathy Strom helped us with the order.Stupidly we paid in full for them. After 5 weeks we received a message that the order would be in about a week so they will call back with a delivery date. After 2 weeks I called and was told by Kathy that 1 set was in so we figured we would wait a week for the other. Another week went by playing 'phone tag' and was told they would call the warehouse to find out where the tables were. I spoke to a man on April 1st and after getting an attitude FROM him because I was asking for my furniture he said the other table was on a conatiner on a ship in the ocean. I asked him for a # to speak to someone in charge - he told me to speak with Kathy and she would be in on Thurs.(he claimed there was no one above her).My husband then called back and spoke to the same man claiming to be Andrew and and he said that he tried calling the warehouse but no one called him back. 15 mins later Kathy called. She said Andre (not Andrew) is the Pres and doesn't know why he didn't tell us that or why he was putting everything on her but she said he did try calling the warehouse (he would lie about things and she would swear to it). On Thurs April 10th I went to the store and Andre said the only thing he could do was give us $200 back and that we should be thankful because the table set went up $100 since Feb. We really liked the sets so we let it go another week. We have not heard from them since and they are no longer in business. The furnishings are still in the store but after numerous phone calls my husband found that Andre has been unlicensed for about a year from selling furnishings.
Kathy and Andre have done this before and have a company names Rise Furniture with the same problems. After some detective I found out Andre lives in East Patchogue.
The Attorneys General and Consumers Affair have gotten ALOT of complaints within the last week alone. I am going to pursue this in small claims court, try to bring Andre up on felony charges for operating w/o a license, and even try getting in touch with the news.
If anyone wants to contact me about this (any suggestions or if you are in the same boat) please write me @islanddinettecomplaint@***.com
Everyone scammed by Island Dinette read this
I have written reviews about Island Dinette and just figured this would be a good place to keep everyone updated. My husband & I won a judgment about Andre (not that we'll see any $$$).
Even though he lives in a gorgeous house (20 Moss Creek Rd E Patchogue) in it in his wife's name only--as is all vehicles(which is understandable since he doesn't have a driver's license). Andre's license to sell furniture expired in June 2007.
I will write more in my next blog.
I will give the name & # to contact in Consumer's Affairs to make sure he gets in all the trouble possible.
It is not right that he was able to take $$$ from alot of people--not deliver as promised & then claim he doesn't have any $$ to pay back but live in a big house.
A Long History of Complaints
I had a very similar problem with Island Dinette 6 years ago. We had to take them to small claims court and we won. Still they did not refund our money even though THEY broke the contract. After almost one year, the sheriff secured our refund (with interest).
What is REALLY sad is that I made complaints to the better Business Bureau and the office of Consumer Affairs back then. If this has been happening for at least 6 years, why was it allowed to continue? I even contacted the media. No one was interested in my story.
Imagine my happiness when I drove by the other day and saw the police in front of the store, furniture on the side walk, and the store empty with lights off.
It is a shame that so many people have to get scammed and hurt before something is done!
I got scammed by Island Dinettes too.
I purchased 2 cast aluminum patio sets back in 9/07 for $3900. I received a partial order by the end of Sept.
that consisted of a table with only 3 legs and four chairs. I refused the table at first but was told by Kathy the sales manager that a replacement leg along with the rest of my delivery would follow within 2 weeks, I foolishly agreed. In Oct I was told by both Andre the owner and Kathy that the remaining pieces would not be available until the early spring season. So I waited.
In April I was guaranteed a delivery of 4/28. When I called for my delivery time there was no answer, I tried for days and then went to the store on several different days and it is closed. I luckily purchased this on a charge card and they have filed an investigation on my behalf. I didn't think my charge card company would be able to help being the charge was back in 09/07, they can help you too.
So if you too were scammed by Island Dinettes aka Andre and Kathy and you charged your order call them ASAP.
Don't wait like me.

Holy **&*,
My husband and I ordered a dining room set last JULY, that's right, July. Anyway, unlike the other comments, we received the set however, it was damaged. Two chairs had rips in them and the table is cracked. We dealt with the Farmingdale store and after NUMEROUS phone calls over the 10 month period of being promised shipping dates, we have still not received the "replacements" for our damaged paid-for furniture. "Andre", who I feel I know so well due to all our phone contacts, has claimed that the table top was coming from "Malaysia", said to give it time. My husband and I being patient figured we'd wait.
FINALLY, we received a delivery date, that the table top and 2 cushion replacements were in, we call for the "window" of time to seek delivery time and NOONE is there all day, all weekend. We were definitely scammed. Unfortunately we are STUCK with the set, that is nice, but damaged.....I have to serve on a damaged table for a long time now and 2 cushions have rips. Makes me feel real proud to have company. I guess at this point, it is just good to know we were not alone.
Signed,
A VERY ANGRY customer
Island Dinette Patchogue
On February 14, 2008 I purchased a dinette set that I was told was Oak. The set was delivered on February 23, 2008.
I puzzled about the set being Oak because the chairs and table were not heavy. About April 21st I called to report 2 broken chairs. They said someone would get back to me on Monday. The following week I called and again was told someone would get back to me.
Seeing the break on one of the chairs I am convinced the set is not Oak. I have been informed Island Dinette has filed Chapter 11.
Who is going to replace my broken chairs?
Island Dinettes ripped us off
We ordered a dinette set from Island dinettes in Patchogue in January and got the
same runaround as the others. The furniture is coming
from Malaysia, delay at port, blah blah.
I should have seen the warning signs and my gut
told me to ask for my deposit back in March.
I was sold a bill of goods and they must have
had a script to follow.
Spoke with Kathy Strom numerous times and she lied outright. How do they sleep at night.
Hope the credit card company can get our $590 back.
Very upset about this deceitful practice.

Island Dinette (Andre Edwards) scammers
Please contact news 12, news 7,etc to complain about Island Dinette and president Andre S Edwards. I have written and I know others have but the more the better. He has no license to sell furniture (since June 2007) and he should have to answer for taking alot of money from alot of people. Andre and his manager, Kathy, have done this before.
Andre lives in Patchogue and I can't believe he would do this to his neighbors. He has no conscience. He is just full of excuses. So please, please, contact local news and authorities. Let him pay for what he has done.
Purchase of kitchenette from Island Dinette in Patchogue, N.y.
i purchased a kitchen table w/4 chairs from Island Dinette in Patchogue, n.y. on 4-l-08 from Andre -
we told him est.
delivery date would be about 3-4 weeks. Left a deposit of 447.91 on AMEX and by end of April 2008 began calling to arrange for delivery of my set. Called many, many times and no answer with the store or warehouse.
Called AMEX and complained about them and are awaiting their investigation into this matter. When we purchased this product we also dealt with a woman named Kathy who had called and said we owed more money
Island Dinette-Patchogue
Sure looks like things havent changed for this store. I wish I would have read the reviews before I ordered kitchen counter stools in November. Here we are the end of February and after many lies about dates of arrival later, 8 weeks now going on 4 months. UNREAL!
I doubt I will ever get the merchandise I already paid for and wish I went to a any other store besides these liars.
I am disputing this charge with the credit card company today, I am so sick of wasting the time wondering if I will ever get these *** stools. Not to mention I already paid for them and have nothing.
I am telling everyone I know to stay away from these lying croooks.

Andre Edwards is now working for Tiffany Furniture on Rte 110 in Farmingdale. He swears he is not Andre, but merely a former employee who was ripped off by Andre also ...
BUT don't believe him ... he is Andre the Crook without a doubt!!!
