Qwest bundled direct tv

qwest phone in seattle allied w/direct tv for bundling, failed to investigate direct tv install complaints and now we've suffered 2 blatant failed attempts at install by ironwood communication, who employs disrespectful "techs" who have no trouble lying about company policy,

[ this tech's name was noel, a person lacking in common sense and brains,]

and playing shell games w/call back numbers to rectify the issues,

still not solved - ironwood's mgmt is worthy of the worst retribtuion-

and qwest, for not weeding out the criminals, and for not not taking any action concerning ironwood comm, their local seattle subcontractor

Didnt recieve my full service. Missing one reciever.

I signed up to recieve 4 reciever boxes for my house and the installer only installed 3 and said my exsisting cable was too old to send signal. So instead of running new line he told me i had to do it and call when it was done and they would come back and install my fourth box.

Now that i have remodeled my basement i called direct tv and they are tryin to charge me $80 for a new install even though i was suppose to have this box anyways. Now im tryin to get ahold of you the installer.

So what she just wants to get some, If I were you id be more mad at your husband for giving in. It takes two to tango, If one is only into it we call that rape and its illegal out here in the east coast.

Guest

All the complaints must be because of Jennifer, anytime a company dosn't make sure people have class it trickles down . I don't want to judge but Jennifer if a guy who is married agrees to sleep with you he is using you, a man who is smitten with a woman keeps his woman from a bad reputation.

Well you can say take care of your husbands and that would not happen if they were happy, well maybe you have all they answers but are you above God and what He says because God hates infidelity and He hates sex outside of marriage but I sure wouldn't want to be the cause of ruining a marriage. Many countries have been ruined in Biblical time due to immorality God will forgive but you have to turn from your sin and stop doing these things.God thinks more of you than that. just saying

Guest

Ok. For all you people out there who like to play the blame game.

It takes two to tango. And for all you pissed off wives out there. If you learned how to keep your husbands happy in bed... They wouldn't go looking for it elsewhere.

Furthermore, who the *** care's? Move on. Stop acting like a victim and go find yourself a man who will treat you like the sun rises and falls by you. Jesus.

They obviously didn't love you and you need to just let it go and find something new. Their loss!!!

Brandon Custer is a POS!!!

June 4th 2008 ironwood communications was scheduled to hook up our direct tv satelite. Mr. Custer (some young guy) came around 4:30pm and said he couldn't get a signal on our roof. (we still had an old dish network dish on the roof that he was gong to take down and put their dish in place) he walked around our property for about 15 minutes and said he would have to dig a trench about 30 feet from our house past some large (healthy) walnut trees. That would run us about 300 dollars easy.

He told us plan b would be to have the trees topped off.

June 10th- So i called a friend in the tree business and got a deal to have some trees taken out. only 200 dollars.

June 12th comes around and the second guy comes back to install our dish. He takes the old dish down and replaces it w/ his new direct tv dish. I told him before he bolted it in that Mr. Custer couldn't get a signal there and we had trees taken out of another part of our yard so the dish would go there...

what does installer # 2 say???

i get a perfect signal here. why did he tell you to have trees cut out???

It's now 9/17/08 and i have not been reimbursed for the 200 dollars. Ironwood communications is no longer Ironwood communications. It's new name is "DirectSat" but they have all the same people. You can't keep changing your name!!!! People will find out!!!! BEWARE of DIRECTSAT!!!!

I am NOT the Brandon Custer you complained about, but I AM from the western Suburbs of Kansas City. I am obviously aware that there is another person with my name that lives in the area, but I would very much appreciate it if this post was removed considering it is on the first page of results of a Google Search of this name.

Guest

Im NOT the Brandon Custer you complained about but before you smear someones name personally all over the net be aware that there is like 200 Brandon Custers and we had nothing to do with this... Thanks

Guest

This took place in a western suburb of Kansas City, Kansas.

I just recieved a check yesterday for the 200 dollars.

If people want results then you must call ironwood/directsatelite/180 Connect Inc. every day!!! I have an address of 6501 E Belleview Ave. 5th floor

Englewood, CO 80111

this is where my check came from so if anyone else out there is wanting refund/damage claim try writing letters to the add. above. Good luck! it was a 4 month process for me to get my refund back. They probably paid more on their phone bill putting me on hold for 30-45 minutes at a time every day for 4 months.

Bottom line: still not satisfied w/ directv because they didn't seem to care that a company that they hire is treating their customers like this, but my husband loves NFL sunday ticket/ superfan so I just vent in forums like this fine one here.

Ironwood Communications-A Multi-Year Nightmare

I've been installing satellites since the C band days. I'm not the brightest, best, or fastest, but I was service manager for a high end company that did celebrity (all athletes) homes and have done advanced control systems. I did nothing but retrofits for over 10 years, so if I may be immodest, I know my stuff. My structured panels are tidy and well labeled.

EVERY Ironwood experience has been at the best poor, but after the first few times I learned to be forceful with them. Recently, it hit closer to home.

My son bought a house and scheduled an install. We took the precaution to pull 4 down-leads to the dish location to his structured panel (which I put in myself). Ironwood would never have routed the cables the way we wanted them. There is an area in his house that had to be cut open to get the wires inside the house where they belong. We suffered the usual evening scheduled no-show, but no biggie. You learn to expect it from these guys. He came the next day.

You have the picture. The dish had the wiring, the panel had the wiring, and all of the receiver locations were in place. All this guy had to do was set and tune the dish, make a few connections to a multiswitch they were to provide and activate the receivers. I was working inside when the "installer" came in and told me the wiring we'd provided was too short. When I asked why, I learned he had moved the dish from my outlined location due to a tree in its line of sight. Strike one: The tree was dead. Really dead. We had quite a bit of rain early in '08 and everything else around had leaves save this tree. It shamed the guy, that was obvious.

He'd mounted to the flat of the roof through asphalt shingles and sealed with silicone. Strike 2: Silicone won't adhere for long periods like, oh, say Henry's Roofing Compound.

He spent an additional 1.5 hours on the roof *** with the dish. Mind you, this was a single element dish and we had already pulled the cable. I have a sat meter, but I have tuned these in a lot less time using only the receiver. He had an more advanced Sencore meter.

I was contemplating throwing the guy out, but he finally came down and finished. He actually seemed rather pleased with himself and had the nerve to give me his card!

This took a total of 5.5 hours! I'd have been kicking myself for wasting so much time. I'm not a speed demon, but I do know the drill. I've done it hundreds of times over the years, but stay clear of them these days. They're a pain to wire and DTV is has always been a pain to deal with. I had one hard and fast rule when I did them, though:

RULE #1: DON'T PENETRATE THE ROOF!

If you're reading this and contemplating getting DTV, hire a professional to do it. DON'T use Ironwood!!! I think their installation is a "free standard installation", but we all know that nothing is free. They're liable to do worse than this to your home. I recently made $500.00 ($55.00 per hr) fixing a structured panel that Ironwood (and a cable and phone company "installer") screwed up. BTW, cable and phone company people, at least in Phoenix, aren't any better. ALWAYS have them send a senior tech, especially if you have a complicated problem or the first guy couldn't fix/do the job!

I love my C-band big dish, prices are so low and lots of digital channels.

I wish you lived in Houston i would have you come out and make sure i have all the satellites programmed correctly.

Guest

You two guys must work for Ironwood. I'd then classify you as one of those being the problem.

Do the install myself? I could have done it MUCH better, I know.

After reading the facts that's all you have to say? You two are ***

Guest

Hey you should check out customer satisfaction websites. I believe ironwood every year is near the top. Get something better to do than *** about something or do the *** install yourself.

LIED TO AND GIVEN THE RUN-AROUND!

Well, let me start off with the fact that Ironwood called me and told me the tech would be here on Tue. @ 4 to install.

I was here and he never showed. Not even a courtesy call to say he wasn't showing. I waited until 7 and then called DTV directly. They tried to get in touch with the dispatcher to find out where he was but they never picked.

I was on the phone for an 1 1/2 hours. I have been calling every day to try and figure out what is going on. It is now more than a week later after my initial installation and I still have no DTV. I got a hold of Ironwood and they said that the reason why was because they didn't have the correct equipment and that she couldn't give me a new schedule date.

Well, as pissed as I was I got DTV back on the phone only to find out that the real reason was because Ironwoods techs aren't trained to install the new dish and that they have to go through a month of training. Now I won't have my dish installed until sometime in October. So much for the NFL network.

Ironwood, you suck ***!

Ironwood Communications is completely inept.

June 23rd: Subscribed to DirecTV; First available install date (by Ironwood Communications) was July 7th!!

July 7: A kid (16-years-old, if that) comes to my house and says, "Man, this is going to be tough. Are you sure you don't want to go with cable?" I finally convince him that, yes, I do want DirecTV. Then he says, "okay, well I won't be able to hook up the DVR." I ask why, and he responds "because I have to run a line from the satellite dish." Isn't that his job??? He abruptly leaves; I call to reschedule appointment and the earliest date is July 14 (between 12-4).

July 14: I receive a phone call at 12:10 that says installer in in area and needs directions. I immediately call back and provide directions. Operator says she will forward info to installer. I never get a call back. 6:00 rolls around, and still no installer. Ironwood says they can't get ahold of technician, the technician supervisor, or dispatch. They try to reschedule me for July 29th (over a month after subscribing). Still no resolution. DirecTV is a great service, but if it is being serviced by Ironwood Communications, avoid at all costs as they are completely inept!!!

ironwood doesent have complete control of a technician that makes his own decisions, unfortunately it sounds like u got a tech that got to much work given to him or he was just flat out lazy. i mean he is in a company vehicle, makes his own decision with out supervisor approval to reschedual or cancel a job and then goes home.

How does ironwood control a problem like that right then if they cannot locate that tech. why are you blaming ironwood for the tech being negligent.

they cant deal with until they see him. I know for a fact that dish network and the cable company has the same problems, so just request for a lead tech to do the install.

Total Disregard and Disrespect

I am an owner of several multi family houses.

Ironwood has never asked me for permission for their installations. In the latest installation they installed the dish on the chimney of the house, which was under contract for repair.

They also took one of the Direct TV dishes that was on the property, which was paid for and supposed to be used in case a tenant wanted the service and to avoid any further wiring and drilling, which brings me to another topic; one time they drilled on my roof, installed the support bracket incorrectly with no caulking, hense my roof leaked!

Ironwood communications just delivers the workorder and the eq.only

Ironwood Communications,

The company as a whole is a great. Its Directv that makes up the work order. Not Ironwood Communications and they only install what Directv gives them. They can only do what is on the workorder and nothing more and this is Per Directv.

I had a good install only after the tech supervisor stayed on the phone with me on a 3 way call for over 1 1/2 hours to get my workorder corrected. It took Directv's workorder's 3 different times comming out to my house.

But when I called the local office and talked to the tech supervisor Chris he took care of me and never set the phone down and keep talking to the directv's rep and telling them that the workorder is still wrong and that the customer deserves better !

After 1 1/2 hours they finilly got the workorder correct and the tech supervisor get a tech out to my house within the hour and had it installed before the night was done. The installer stayed till 10 pm to complete it. And explaned everything till I fully understaned it.

Directv had to give me more than 198.00 worth of credit because of all of the cancelled workorders and all of the time that I wasted waiting for the correct workorder.

But Ironwood Communications and there tech Supervisor Chris got the job done for me and I love my Directv ! ! Its the Best thing I've ever ordered as far as any kind of cable.

Ironwood Communications is awful

Ironwood Communications in Nampa, Idaho was supposed to install DirecTV at my home. A technician came by, stood in the backyard for about two minutes, announced he wouldn't be able to make it work and left.

At least I think that's what he said. He was cockeyed and spoke such poor English I couldn't understand him at all. I called their office and was treated poorly by the person who answered. Eventually I called another company, and their technician installed it in less than an hour.

That technician told me that anybody could have made it work and the tech from Ironwood must have been lazy or something.

hey Brian, Then why dont you get into a company van. YOU ARE FIRED. Come see me in my office.

Guest

I'm a tech out of the nampa office in idaho and although i do find much of the complaints legit there is one thing you must understand. We as techs can only do our best.

Directv is constantly sending us equiptment from 2,3,4,etc. companies and all those parts don't always fit well with each other. So when your dish keeps falling it's not always the tech, some parts were made too big by the manufacturer. Since i am a tech i try my hardest to leave every customer feeling completely satisfied, however i am only one person and not everyone feels the same way.

I don't believe blaming it on the pay is right. While i would like to recieve some kind of compensation for driving my own vehicle well over a hundred miles a day like previous comments have stated you need to shut up or get out of the job.

My point is not every tech is horrible and Directv is far from sainthood but to pin it on one person or company isn't right either. :sigh

Guest

I am a tech that works for Ironwood Communications in California. I have been reading some of the complaints.

And I agree with some of the complaints, But not the worst company thou. I am just saying that the problem unfortunateley is money. the tech feels he is not paid enough or is treated badly or what ever. And as a result YOU the custumer pays the price.

Also reality is that some people there is no pleasing, no matter what the customer is not happy. My point is there is no perfect company, i mean look at our Government.

Life is to short to FREAK out over tv. People that complain have no peace.

Guest

Tech, that is the biggest load of *** I have ever heard. I am having issues with Ironwood right now.

Not because my home is not wired for Directv, (it was before the installer came,) but because your company has THE WORST customer service. The install I received had a new dish, which consistently lost satellite signal, and after a week lost the signal all together. It took me calling the Nampa branch, the corporate offices and directv every single day for 6 days until they finally sent someone out to check. This was today, and while the tech stated he "fixed" the dish, it just began losing satellite signal yet again.

I know this is not due to the location of my home, as I have had directv service before and never had this issue. I think that the main thing that bothers me is that no one at your company, from the local receptionist to the president (who I called twice and refused to answer or call back) ever tried to apologize for these issues that the COMPANY caused. I have yet again called the local branch to report the problem, perhaps it will actually be resolved this time.

As far as not getting a raise is such a long time, this is an issue you should take up with your company, NOT with paying customers. If you can't provide quality service in the job your in, and you don't like it or the pay, quit complaining and find a new job.

Guest

I am a Direct TV installer working for Ironwood Communications. Some of these complaints have merit, but some are pretty ignorant.

Let's get a few things straight:We live in a Wallmart world. Everyone wants everything for nothing. If John Customer can save $1 by switching TV providers, no doubt he will, and then complain that the next company can't provide the same service as the last. He doesn't care what these companies do (like sending call centers to India or hiring illegal aliens) to cut costs.

And why did John Smith build a huge brand new house without having it properly wired with phone and cable in every room. Saved a few buck there I guess. No worries, DTV will wire the whole thing for free. And then there's Jack Contractor.

He used to make a good living installing satellite systems, but has not had a raise in 15 years (not even cost of living or fuel surcharge) and has endured several pay cuts in that time. He does quality work but he is a dying breed and is always on the lookout for a better job because he doesn't make any more money than the next *** that the company is forced to hire to keep warm bodies in the field. That's about it.

If you get a good installation then you got lucky with a hard working and experienced tech who hasn't quit yet. :(
