Innovative title company , bellaire, tx
received and escrowed check through innovative title company in bellaire, TX - that turned out to be a fraudulent check. I contacted the company to verify that it was a fraudulent check and they stated that they were aware of the identity theft and that fradulent checks were being issued under their company name but there was nothing that they could do about. The owner then proceeded to threaten me with civil lawsuit of slander if this information was released to the public. Their website does not list that they have been the victims of fraudulent check scheme nor do they advise that it would be wise to contact them prior to cashing their checks or if there are any concerns. The owner's only answer was that it's not his problem and there is nothing he can do about it. He proceeded to tell me that there have been hundreds of these checks distributed through out the country which equals hundreds of victims for which he stated that he is not responsible for warning the public.

Let me guess??? You are upset because you were scammed by a Craig's List scam?
Did you really give the scammer a cash refund and whatever you were selling? Didn't you think for a minute that the deal was too good to be true and that the check was coming from a party that was different from your buyer?
And let me guess again that the company was frustrated by your attitude because you are out money? These scams have been going on since Craig's List was started and will continue on as long as people like you get greedy and grab onto something that was too good to be true.
