Despite several attempts, Independent Bank never contacted me and refused to work with me. It's clear that Independent Bank does not care about their customers...just robbing them of money.

I am a retired disabled veteran living on a fixed income. I get less than $2000 to live on every month.

After paying bills I typically have $100 left for the month to live on and for gas to get to the VA hospital as I am a frequent visitor due to ongoing medical issues from my time in the service.
Regardless the past few months IB has charged me over $400 in insufficient funds fees and daily overdraft fees. March - May. I have been dealing with extra bills after a woman vandalized my vehicles and stole a bunch of my stuff. Also, I have been spending most of my time on the west side of the state where my fiancee lives on a farm with poor internet connectivity.

Also, for a few weeks I was VERY sick with covid. These issues and my ongoing medical issues from compound traumatic brain injuries and PTSD have made it impossible to keep good track of my finances.
I recently tried to get IB to refund me for the fees once my account was up to date (it took a couple of weeks because I have NO other source of income and my fiancee is also disabled living on a fixed income). Yet they said it "wasn't their fault" and only agreed to refund me $46 of the $418!
Charging unnecessary fees and taking money from a disabled vet, or anyone living on a fixed income, ESPECIALLY during this economy is just criminal! It should not even be legal.

Most banks practice lenency especially during the ongoing pandemic, yet IB has a history of overcharging their patron and not being reasonable. Over the past few months IB has taken a quarter of my VA Disability Benefits.
Not to mention the times that I had an overdraft fee were all times that I had money that was supposed to be deposited into my account and it ended up being later than expected.
