IHT Experience

After reading some of the more rather negative reviews, i feel compelled to give an honest assesment of my experience regarding this organization. In a nutshell, their business model is pretty ingenious.

If you are a marketer & a salesperson, then the platform that IHT is built on is perfect for you. Their is no agency out there that has as many carriers to help your clients. The learning curve is rather involved yes, but the reward for your time spent learning about the carriers & their appetites is duly rewarded if you have enough people to see. The closing percentages that are talked about in the reviews (80-90%) are very achievable.

My income has tripled in the eight and one half years I have been affiliated with them from what i was making after eighteen years being a captive agent. All I can say is this, if you have a viable plan and are willing to work and not give up, you will be successful.

IHT...EXCELLENT PARTNERSHIP

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been with IHT since 2011 and sum up the experience with them in one word....FANTASTIC. After reading some of the complaints, I wonder if they could possibly be talking about another co.

They have done nothing but helped me grow to over $4 million in DWP, have never "stolen" commissions/customers, or any financial issues. They told me up front that if I bust my ***, the sky is the limit and it certainly is.

I left the captive world in 2011, after working hard and getting screwed by these wonderful captive companies and their principal agents. Keep up the great work IHT!!!

IHT told me that if I don’t want to work anymore , I can either sell my book of business to another IHT agent ( or a future IHT agent ) , or I can leave the customers with them & still get paid Commision ( no need to work & still get paid ). But I don’t see that term on their agency agreement.Anybody know anything about this ?

How it works . Any experience? Please let me know .

It would be very helpful . Thanks !

I can't believe how blindsided this persons comments are. I was a captive agent and recruited by IHT and had smoke blown in my face about how you own your clients and will make so much more than as a captive agent.

Lies, lies and more lies. Re-read your contract, if you owned your clients then why would IHT have you sign a non-compete???

Why is it if you ask them to see the commission statement from a carrier you are writing business for they tell you no? If you owned your book of business they would never and I mean NEVER ask you to sign a non-compete or not show you the commission statement of your sales from that specific carrier.

IHT Insurance Agency Group

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I was a captive agent for 3 years prior to jumping on board with IHT in January of 2013. While it is never easy starting from scratch again, my experience with the Group has been eye opening.

This is how the insurance business should be run. The breath of carriers IHT is contracted with, coupled with the rating software, makes the process of finding the appropriate carrier for your client an easy job. Of the prospects that give me an opportunity, I can confidently say that I close 90%. The fact that there are no PC or Life production requirements means that you decide how fast you want to grow.

The Group does not force any underwriting guidelines on you, that aren’t shared by the carriers themselves.

While starting as a captive agent provided a good foundation to someone new to the insurance industry, I now feel confident I am providing a good service to my clients. I just wish I would have made the leap sooner!

IHT Insurance Agency Group-Agent Review

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been an agent with the IHT Insurance Agency Group since December 2011. Prior to joining IHT I worked for a captive agent for several years, and in my opinion the grass is greener on this side.

IHT has helped me grow my agency in in very short period of time because of the support they provide. In addition, IHT give us the opportunity to work with a multitude of carriers resulting in very competitive pricing when quoting new business. Although I do not keep track of my closing ratio, I know I sell at least 50-60% of the policies I quote year after year.  We do not have any requirements for production or quota's, so we can focus on the business we want to sell versus the requirements that other companies or agency's.

In closing, if you are a hard working agent who wants to run your agency the way you wish then IHT is the way to go.

IHT's been great to work with

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I've been an agent with IHT since 2006 and they've been great to work with. I am able to write almost everything I quote.

I think my closing ratio is over 90%. I've been able to work directly with PL UWs since the beginning, and they helped me learn commercial lines. My experience has been the complete opposite of the listed complaints. In fact, the reason I wanted to submit this review is because the other reviews are so unlike my experience with IHT.

There has never been anything underhanded in our relationship. I follow the carrier's eligibility rules and IHT gives me the freedom to grow my agency.

Nobody has taken my clients, nobody has imposed eligibility rules other than the carrier rules that all agents have to follow. I love working with IHT.

Like your book of business? If you like your book and your paycheck you DON'T want to have anything to do with these guys calling themselves Integrity Honesty, & Trust.

Their only loyal partner is the bank and they will do whatever it takes to steal your book. They say it's yours, but in fact they lie. They take "your" book and you can't even service your own clients because you are at their mercy. They increase the fees on you and tell you they must do that for their operating costs.

That's a lie, it's their vacation funds that run short every year and they are making millions and you do all the work. They can sell that business whenever they want and you will be SOL. They also treat you horrible after you sign on the dotted line and you cant even get a phone call back.

You can go to Network Insurance in FL and submit all you life, health, and annuity and make DOUBLE of what they pay and you wont have to LIE on the applications and say that Todd Evingerham took the application. They also tell you that you can write anything, but in fact it will take about a month to get your commercial quotes back and by the time you get it back, the business is with another agent.

This company tells their "1099 agents" that they can write with many companies. They neglect to tell you that if you don't have 100/300/100 on the autos and the home in perfect condition that you cant write it or your commission will be cut to about 5% They are ruthless liars and you will no longer own "your" book of business if you sign with them.

They are heartless legal thieves and they have stolen over $100,000 in my commissions from me.

Thaey kept about 1/2 of my life/health commissions when you can go straight to Network Insurance in FL and double your commissions.

As an ex-employee of this company. I know for fact that this is true.

The company has individuals that make the big decisions regarding the company called "partners" these partners are in constant arguments, power struggles and manipulation to get what they want. They charge 3-5000 to gain access to their systems then the agent is required to pay 2-300/month to continue to be able to write with their companies.

They have strict policies that they force you to follow and then if you stand up for yourself they take the company away. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

They lie!

If you sign a contract with IHT before doing your homework you will be as sorry as I am. I've lost my ability to service my clients and they are "no longer my clients" with their two yr non-compete clause that they "enforce." It's been a nightmare for me.

I've lost my business and IHT partners have taken them from me. They tell you that you are in business for yourself and that there is no production requirements, but in fact that is a lie. If you don't produce certain numbers you are "locked out" of carriers and you will not have the ability to write business. Also if you don't have "packaged business" your comissions will be dropped to 5% and you can only write with a couple carriers.

They keep all your bonus money and they keep over half your comissions and charge you to give you a hard time. BE CAREFULL & DO YOUR HOMEWORK!

Don't make the same mistakes I made, I am truly devastated from their actions.

Can we contact you about IHT. We are kind of in the same boat and would like some feedback. Can you email jhiggy35@***.com so that we can stay anonymous.

Pray for these people that own this company. They truly need help since they are taking from the "little guys." Hopefully the agents will find out what IHT does to them before they sign that contract that I hear is so devastating. :eek

IHT will TAKE your clients from you

I signed a contract with IHT Insurance company. Now I am unable to write business unless it is "packaged" and they told me that I would be able to use dozens of "carriers." They were not honest with me.

I now have a "non-compete" and don't have the ability to write much business. Do your homework before signing any contracts! Do not let them do this to you because you will lose your income and do all the work GIVING it to them. I was MUCH better off as an "exclusive" farmers agent.

The owners of IHT are making millions and taking turn on lavish vacations at our expense. You will be lucky to make 10% on any business. They typically keep 1/2 your income and all of the bonus money that you are supposed to make. They will not help yyou service in any way for any reason.

They charge you thousands a year in feel above keeping over 1/2 of YOUR income. Many companies do the same thing they do and only charge 2% not huge fees by the thousands like IHT.

I Can't believe that I fell for these guys and gals calling themselves IHT Insurance Company DBA 1st Buckeye Insurance which is supposed to stand for Integrity, Honesty, & Trust. They took my whole book of business then they told me that I can only write certain products ect...

They never told me that BEFORE I signed the contract with them. The only people they are truly honest with is their personal bankers and travel agents because with your money they stay on vacation. They keep your book of business and you do all the work. Don't fall for their scam or you will in fact be broke and they will legally own your clients.

You will be better off as an exclusive agent.

:cry :( :cry I will be in bankruptcy because I trusted them with my business.

SIGN & GO BROKE

This company will tell you anything that you want to hear and after you sign the contract with HUGE fees you will lose your clients because you lose your clients. they keep all the bonus money and tell you that they are their to help.

How are they helping when they pay pay 5% commission on auto insurance and I made over 10% as a captive agent. did I tell you about the $225 a month in fees that they draft from my account along with 70% of the commissions that I make? you work for them and they make all your money and keep it. Once you sign your business is GONE.

Good Luck. There are several other companies that do the same thing with fees that are thousands less.

Do your homework and work for yourself not for IHT.

They lie to gain all your clients and you're outta business!

This company does not tell you about how you lose ownership of all of your very own policies and business. You sign a two year contract and they end up with your hard work, your commissions and then tell you what to write and where to place them.

They don't tell you the truth before you sign the "CONTRACT that binds you into losing your ability to help your very own clients. DO NOT listen to these money hungry people that will lie, cheat, and steal to get your clients. There are companies that set agents up honestly like ASNOA that don't keep ALL the bonus money, fees, and OVER half of your hard earned commissions.

I wish I would have never heard about IHT. I've been financially devastated ever since I signed their contract and listened to their lies.

Like your clients? Want to keep them? Then stay away from IHT!

This company will tell you anything that you want to hear if you are a captive agent. They will tell you about how much better their side of the world is, but in reality you wont be able to get quotes back on commercial insurance in weeks and you wont be able to place home/auto business unless it's "packaged"with limits of their approval.

Your policies wil no longer have your name on them,so if you thought life was bad before; you haven't seen anything yet. When you lose all your renewals and bonus money for 1st Buckeye DBA IHT Insurance Agency Group you them will want to change, but it will be too late, they have already talked you into signing your whole book of business over to them. Work hard, Rod and his friends are making millions off of agents like you and me.

They take turns on a permanent vacation and we are footing the entire bill with our blood, sweat, tears, and cash! They keep everything, your policies, your dignity, your renewals, your bonuses, and your clients.

Stay away from these people calling themselves IHT if you like yyour business. They steal your clients and lock you out of the sites.

They also raise your fees agter you write a lot of business!

Good luck, if yopu sign you will have a two year non-compete and will not be able to stay in the business after they steal your clients and you can't write commercial because you cant get a quote back for a month and you lose the client anyways. IHT DBA 1st Buckeye will hide you to only take your comission checks and they keep more than half, all the bonus money, and 50% of your life money when you could sign with a broker and keep it yourself.

IHT Insurance Agency from Ohio

IHT tells agents that they will help you "build your book" but in fact roll your clients and don't disclose the way they hide all passwords from their agents to restrict your production unless you produce minimal levels which is against the contract you sign with them. They will also barter comissions if you "hold out" on them so they start with a horrible contract and "get what they can" out of agents.

Don't sign the contract unless you want to "sell" your book and not get paid on it! This company "hides" exclusive agents so they can write business and they can have a larger book. BE EXTREMELY carefull and do your homework before signing with these people that wont even return phone calls once you sign that contract and you jhave a TWO year NON-COMPETE (most companies are one year). They also FRY agents in court if you try to get your own contracts.

BE Carefull and DON"T let the name IHT Integrity Honesty Trust fool you. The worst thing I ever did in my caree was sign with these crooks!

What about they said “you can either sell your book to IHT Agent or let It with them . The carriers will service.

Your customers & you still get paid “. Thanks !

I can't understand why somebody from IHT would put a comment that says to call them before making any honest posts. This is the USA and we have freedom of speech here.

C'mon you've GOT to be kidding us! :x
