This company charges highest management fees and this leads to underperformance. If you are a client move your money out immediately.
- Propietory funds most salesforce pushes
- High fees
- Underperform
User's recommendation: Do not touch this company
Do want others to be sucked in like I was
- - High fees and poor mutual fund moves.
- - 2.6% TFSA return in 10 years; underfunded.
- - No topping up or alternative fund suggestions offered.
First off I do blame myself for being so stupid as to deal with these con artist, I was to busy in life and trusted these people to manage my money, what a mistake, there fees are the highest, they park your money in some crap mutual fund and tell you everything is going good, the statements they send are designed so you cant really see what there taking and what your making, here is a example: my TSFA was extremely underfunded and not once did this manager ever say I should top it up and it made a whopping 2.6% over 10 years, and never suggested alternative investment fund , you see they dont care if you make money only that they have your money , I could go on but believe me when I say these people are cockroaches, and yes Im taking about you Jamie Powell
User's recommendation: Open a self directed invest ment account and learn about ETF and other funds, iyou can buy any fund there sell yourself without the fees

Verified Reviewer |Pay to withdraw funds
Is it standard practice to have to pay money to get your money out??? I am being told that I have to pay $5k in order to withdraw my funds. Is this how that really works???
- Account appears to have made money
- Dont know why being asked to pay fees up front to withdraw funds
Preferred solution: Full refund

Verified ReviewerIncredibly poor customer service and huge fees
- - IG dropped us for a small portfolio and we have to explain TFSA withdrawals.
- - Now Winnipeg handles everything with calls and security.
Up until a few years ago we had our own financial advisor with IG. We were then kicked to the curb because we didn't have a big enough portfolio.
Now anything we need to do has to go through Winnipeg with a myriad of phone calls, callbacks and security questions. I have to even explain to them why I want my money from my TFSA!
Ridiculous. Now I want to leave them but I am told they will kill me with fees for switching to another broker.
Poor service.
- - They didn't apply my lump-sum mortgage payment.
- - I'm pulling out all my investments with them.
- - Service is poor and I can't trust them.
DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM . I WAS paying a lum sum payment on mortgage.
They never took it out. Now I'm hounding them to do it so I can move on.
I'm pulling out all my investments with them. DONT TRUST THEM. THEY DONT DO WHAT THEY SAY .
I WOULDNT PUT A REVIEW IF SERVICE WAS NOT SO POOR. Do not use them
User's recommendation: Don't use them

Verified ReviewerTerrible service
- - Friendly when you pay; they ignore withdrawals.
- - Advisor not handling the RESP file; gave a 1800 number.
- - Wait times are hours; the callback doesn't work.
Theyre super friendly when youre giving them money, ignore you completely when you want it back. When I attempted to withdraw RESP funds for my kids my advisor said he was no longer handling the file and gave me a 1800 number. Trouble is, wait times are multiple hours long regardless of time of day and the callback feature doesnt work.
User's recommendation: Do not use IG

- - Money dropped $25,000; explanations missing and summaries unavailable.
- - Over contributed to husband's TFSA; $7,000 CRA penalty incl GST.
We invested some money with them, immediately it went down by $25,000 with no explanations. Summaries were missing and the agent was unavailable Then they over contributed to my husbands TFSA which resulted in a CRA penalty of $7,000 including withheld GST applied to the penalty.
We did file a complaint with their headquarters and with CIIRO and the Ombudsman for Banking, none of which has helped us recover our money paid to CRA for their mistake.
We are trying Report Seniors Abuse which might be able to help us get a lawyer pro bono. Investors Group is a rip off company designed to steal your money and do it right under the nose of our government regulators. Over 70% of the Ombudsman for Banking complaints favour the financial institutions. The banking institutions support the OBSI institution.
What the *** We will not give up until they are held accountable and you should not either.
Post on your Facebook page, write reviews on BBB and keep the light on these Grifters. They need to be held accountable and to stop stealing our and our kids money.
- Everything they do is designed to steal your money
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Stay far away from Investors Group and Edward Jones

Verified ReviewerImcompetent money management
- - I have 25 years of low RRSP returns.
- - IG has withdrawal errors: last year's wrong amount and this year's funds went to another's account; unresolved.
For the last 25 years, I have had consistently low returns on my RRSP return. Now I am older and starting to draw on my investment.
For the past 2 years when withdrawing the funds, IG has made major errors in the withdrawals. Last year, the withdrew the incorrect amount of funds. They fixed it, but it took several calls to get them to do so. This year they deposited the funds into someone else's account.
They had confirmed the account during the withdrawal process.
I am still waiting for them to sort this out. I would not recommend anyone deal with this company.
- Poor investment strategies and incompetent staff
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Do not deal with this company

Verified ReviewerTreatment I received with IG Wealth
- - I have been with IG for over 10 years.
- - Advisors switch often.
- - Investments never grew and I felt treated poorly; I'm leaving.
I have been with IG for over 10 years. I will not stay with them, they switch you from advisor to advisor, they never really get to know you.
My investments never made money and I never felt I was treated properly. I'm done after again getting yet another advisor.
They always promise they will not trade me off but here we go again but not this time!!! I am going elsewhere!
- No personal attention to you the investor
- Bounced from one advisor to another
Preferred solution: Apology
User's recommendation: Do not deal with them, they are only interested in profiting from your money and do not care about you!!!
I originally invested with Investors Syndicate when it was an outstanding company to deal with. Now my agent has disappeared and it doesn't matter, I'm not allowed to contact her anyway.no
- - Investors Syndicate was renamed to Investors Wealth.
- - Cannot reach a local branch; calls go to Manitoba to speak with an unknown agent.
Since renaming and rebranding itself as Investors Wealth (?) this company isn't worth trying to deal with. I originally invested with Investors SYNDICATE when it was the easiest company in the world to deal with.
This monstrosity that it is today is horrible beyond words.
I live in Ontario but I'm calling Manitoba to talk to an unknown, faceless person at the other end of the phone. The agent that enticed me to invest with Investors Syndicate many years ago is long gone and I'm not permitted to even call a local branch (why on earth they even exist I have no idea) because they have ZERO information and can't speak to any of the questions that I have.
Would NEVER recommend this company - absolutely negative experience for me.
User's recommendation: I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone unless you like planning your life around their time frame and for their convenience. I originally invested with them when they were a reputable company and I could pick up the phone, call my agent and talk to my personal agent without making an appointment - at their convenience. I'm withdrawing every single cent from them - I wouldn't invest someone else's money with this company!!

Promises not kept!
- - Promised 6% annual gains were not realized; returns were less than half.
- - Documentation is convoluted; clarification requests caused confusion.
I was led to believe that at least 6% of capital gains p.a. was very realistic when it turned out, 7 years later, to be less than half of that.
I could have received more with GICs, without all the headache.
Moreover, documentation is so convoluted that one has the impression that this is deliberate. Requests for clarification resulted in more confusion.
All in all a very frustrating experience!
User's recommendation: My advice is simple: keep your money a healthy distance away from this company!
If you like losing your hard earned money, go ahead and sign on the bottom line.
- - I lost $12k with I.G. due to the DSC.
- - DSC locks money for 7 years and has high fees.
- - It took almost 3 weeks to dump them on the market.
I lost $12k with I.G. because of this thing they force you to sign, called DSC (deferred sales charge), the sole purpose of which is to lock-up your money for 7 long years !!!
The I.G. investments had the highest fees and did very poorly; but I could not get the money out because of the DCS I signed. Finally after 7 years of losses, it took almost 3 weeks to dump them on the market; no one wants I.G.
investments. I am not certain, but I think this monstrous DSC is illegal now.
User's recommendation: NOT !!!!!!!!!!
